When you sold the fish it jumped from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. I'm guessing it adds time to account for fish being unloaded from the boat

i would recomend to spend sometime to just sail around to remove some the fog so you can have more locations to fish, and yes its painful to do in the starter boat
