Penny mordant was awful yesterday. Also the sooner the tories are out of power the better
@@Stephen0988 yesterday, all her troubles seemed so far away
She needs to stand up and fight!.... because when she stands up and fights!....then....then..........I forget the rest
Good eye candy especially at the coronation
@@199019852007 well yes, quite. That was very sexually conflicting for me.
Also I don’t think she’ll retain her seat
This lady is awful, well spoken drivel
She was condescending... and rude about the plaid cymru reps name... she watched the debate and knew she was taking part in this conversation and she couldn't be ar$ed to prepare for it... she also doesn't seem to have a handle on how bad things are for the tories.. bigging up penny mordaunt as next leader... she is one of the leading tory lights who are almost dead certs to lose their seat!!!
It sounded like her father and grandpa were avoidant roles in ww2 by her nonsense
She was OK.Calm down.
yes, and extremely patronising...the Welsh name was too difficult ...
She’s horrible. If you talk about Diane Abbot you have to talk about the abuse she receives from your donor Heston!
Angela. How very rude. "That chap" from Wales is Rhun ap Iorwerth. For goodness sake have the respect to pronounce his name correctly.
They are not Welsh Nationalists he represents Plaid Cymru, The Party of Wales.
...quite And Mrs Twinset and Pearls is Angela Cholmondeley de Tjarnqvist Pffelfftang. Bent Boris's aunt
Angela demonstrates exactly what is the problem with the party.... still trying blindly to defend the party instead of fixing the issues.
Mrs Twin Set and pearls looks like a typical Tory shill.
I'm from the Netherlands, and when I try to picture an ' upper class ' English women , this one fits the stereotype I had ;)
Yes, a very shilly woman indeed
Penny Mordaunt 'did well'? She came across like a sadistic public school Head Girl. Failed to connect with the audience at all - or the television audience according to the post debate polls.
she can be my public school head girl any day 😉
Pointy Morbid I'm calling her after that debate, also trying to figure out whether her voice or her hair won in the volume competition
Penny Mordaunt 😂😂😂...
Sunak was the best that the Tories could come up with. Enjoy. 😊
He was second best, behind Truss. You have to question the intelligence and good judgement of the conservatives. They've become talentless, stuck up, hacks. They were always considered a bit mean in terms of their fundamental ideologies going back to Thatcher, but many of us can admit, that they seemed competent in their way of going about their work.

WHO CAUSED THOSE TOUGH TIMES?!!
It's a very deliberate strategy to pretend that a new leader means a new party (despite the fact that it's all the same people in the cabinet, just jumbled around)
What Sunak did shows lack of judgment and damaged him and his party in the eyes of the nation but what Truss did did all of that but also made people materially poorer because the vast majority of us rely on low interest rates to manage.
What an accolade, a worse PM than the wet lettuce 😂😂😂
If anything, a wet lettuce might have been better than Truss was 🤣🤣
Well he'll cement that on 4th of July when his Party wiil get annihilated at the poles because of Sunak.
Rishi Sunak is a disgrace leaving the D-Day 80th Anniversary early.
Rishi attended what he was supposed to attend. He has an election campaign to fight. Well done Rishi.
@@susannamarker2582 He's made the defeat of the tories an absolute dead cert now. Well done Rishi.
@@susannamarker2582lt was the 80th anniversary for God's sake,NOT just another event.
Rishi Sunak couldn't care less about D Day events or anything national security related. To leave early, when all other foreign leaders were there, to go for a pre-recorded election interview is utterly disgraceful. He is an unelected leader with nothing to offer the UK. He's an embarrassment. Thank goodness he's on his way out of politics because he's no bloody good at any of it.
@@futonclutch5040 Maybe, but all of that is not a reason not to vote for him. Starmer is a confirmed communist and is definitely not talking about some nasty surprises he has up his sleeve. Remember when Blair got in ? One of the first things he did was raid private pension funds. That got no mention in New Labour's 97 manifesto. Starmer is a hard-left lawyer from the Haldane Society of lawyers. He joined it at the end of the 1980s, when everyone knew it was a cover organisation for the british communist party, the old CP. Blair was a Trotskyist at University. Starmer is a communist. You cannot vote for these people. So I'm voting Tory.
Not sure why I expected better, but that lady was rude about the Welsh just because they have a different language that she struggles with.
I just about got last that sentence and thought... "Wow, what an absolute insult to the Welsh."
just have some respect and have a go rather than dismissing it.
she's so on brand for an over privileged old tory.
Is it too hard to say "Rin" (Rhun)?
There's quite some difference between admitting that you can't prmounce something and flippantly dismissing someone's name as unpronouncable.
Imagine what the old cow is like trying to pronounce Polish names....Runs through Tories like a stick of rock: entitlement, privilege and racism.
Both Sunak and Truss were tasked with bringing down the Tories.
They are doing a Stirling job of that😂😂😂
Well it didn't take much did it
If she hadn't been in such a rush Truss would've become very popular
IMHO MURDOCH AND HIS EMPIRE WAS CHARGED WITH BRINGING DOWN THE TORIES! I HOPE THE JOURNALISTS HAVE BEEN PROMISED GOLD FOR TYEIR BIASED EFFORTS!
Tory voters brought down the Tory party by electing self serving morons election after election.
Right wing survival of the unfit.
If it had been Kier Starmer who had left early, this woman would be having an apoplectic fit. She would be foaming at the mouth and calling for his resignation. Yet again is reduced to ‘what aboutism’ regarding Dianne Abbott (btw Penny Mourdant did a 💩 job. She just talked over everyone)
The snobbery here is off the scale
I’ve been saying this - he’s politically inept. With the new ULEZ stuff, I’m convinced he has hired Susan Hall to run the campaign. Would explain all the gaffes as well.
it's his own complete disconnect from the reality of people's lives due to his ill gotten wealth and hyper privileged upbringing, combined with being surround by tufton street think tank idiots, who are just there do their oligarch masters' bidding.
UKEZ was brought in by Johnson when he was Mayor.
Truss was an economic car crash, no way could she stay in office
Yes, D-Day celebrations notwithstanding, Truss was an atrocious prime minister, and did a fabulous amount of damage in very short time. Sunak has done a lot of damage mitigation, in comparison. I look forward to seeing the tories off, possibly for several decades.
Exactly. Sunk is a disaster in terms of political judgement. Having faulty economic judgement is far worse for the country.
@@shadowside8433 Sunak printed £100 billion and then used it to pay people to stop working on and off for a year, causing massive shortages of goods, services and trained personnel whilst hugely increasing the money supply, leading to large scale inflation. He forced restaurants to close to stop people from congregating and spreading covid, and then created the "eat out to help out" scheme to help the restaurants offset the damage he'd done, resulting in people congregating and spreading covid.
He and Hancock have done far more damage than Liz Truss could ever dream of.
And an insane person
It’s how you say sorry that’s important too. I can’t count what he said as an apology when he minimised and told us, the injured how we should move on. This is the definition of insult to injury.
Yes, Sunak is also petulant and arrogant - he hates being told he's made a mistake and doesn't understand why he should apologize. Text book narcissist.
@@stephenelliott7071the money has made him arrogant
Dannat said that the bloody Sunday families should get over it.
He's said sorry, but he hasn't said it in a way that remotely suggested he meant it.
At least he can say sorry and is probably the only PM to have ever said sorry for anything! But of course people like you will say anything to critique something about him. I don't hear you talking about the improvement to the economy, or to your salaries by reduction of NI, you don't care what it actually does for you.
If Johnson was the buffoon, then Sunak is the blithering.
…….Idiot😅😅😅
You forgot to say 'idiot'
Idiot
Sunak, a former financial gambler, has put a £1m spread bet on the Conservatives to win 50-100 seats…..
The bookmakers currently have the Tories at 33/1 to win the GE. This means that Sunak's £1 million spread bet is way down the Swanee.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
When Theresa May was in power, I thought she was the worst Prime Minister in living memory. What I can't believe now is that she's not even in the top three and looks almost Churchillian in comparison to her successors.
There we go again, idolising another racist - Winston Churchill. Likes of you voted Liz Truss, we're in this position cos of you
Jesus, doesn't that just epitomise the contempt with which the Tories hold other countries - couldn't be bothered to try and learn Rhun ap Iorwerth's name then proceeded to insult Wales by calling it unpronouncable. John Redwood in pearls...
Couldn't agree more and I didn't see this message before I posted my own. Why did she go unchallenged when mocking a name from the oldest language in Britain?
@@tristanp1983 I'm surprised the Scottish guy didn't say anything. Expected nothing less from the interviewer. I would suggest that if she struggles with names of just one syllable that she probably shouldn't be anywhere near power.
Also she didn't even bother to read a paper to prep for this discussion either. "Saturday is housework day, don't you know, haha". Daft bat.
Lazy, condescending arrogance from the Tory - they just don't get it, do they?
they honestly believe they are meant to rule because of the accident of their birth. the idea that they should actually being qualified to do so doesn't even occur to them.
Out of touch Angela Knight, you don't understand the younger generation, they'll have clocked this.
How condescending. Learn and pronounce his name. You are supposed to be an educated woman. Would you have said the same thing, in the same tone if he had a 'hard to pronounce' Asian name?
‘Sunak has performed pretty well’…..are we living in an alternative universe
Inept is the word!
Yes clearly we are. You're in the universe of supporting a party without any plan nor sense
Can we please challenge the normalising of laughing about not being able to pronounce someone from these islands' name? Welsh is a language far older than English and has been on these islands since before the Romans. If you can't be bothered to learn how to say someone's name, maybe keep that to yourself rather than laugh about the name being "unpronounceable". The Welsh alphabet, as it happens, is phonetic so if you bother to learn how to pronounce the letters, you'll be able to pronounce any Welsh word that comes your way.
Totally agree with you, this woman is a shame😂😂
She is trying to excuse his behaviour because Sunaks generation didn’t have fathers who fought so don’t treat it as seriously?
No we didn’t, but we have parents who have spoken about how the war and its aftermath impacted their youth. We also had grandfathers who spoke about their experiences or were not around due to their sacrifice during WW2.
Many of my generation still care deeply about our grandfathers and great grandfathers who served in WW1 and WW2 and understand the sacrifices and horrors they endured.
She comes across as belittling and out of touch
Liz Truss would've rolled in on a tank.
Nah, a skateboard with a wonky wheel.

Angela Knight! Wasn’t she the one defending the banking industry during the credit crunch?
A worse prime minister, than the prime minister, who was worse, than a lettuce ! 😂😂😂
a cabbage?
I was disgusted last night at Penny Mordaunt. i had always thought she would be a great PM. I had never liked Angela Reynor thinking she was a loud mouthed yob if I am honest. The reverse played out during this debate. Shouting people down, talking over them and wagging fingers in their face is NOT what I expect from my party. In contrast, Reynor was way more measured. As was Nigel Farage. Today I have made the decision to switch to Reform. The fact Tories seem to think she did well tells me I dont want to be part of that party anymore. Being rude and behaving badly isn't excused in my book by a cut glass accent. VOTE REFORM.
How is Brexit going? 😂😅😂
It makes me want to pull my hair out when I hear Tories say the NHS needs reform because the reason for it is the damage they have done to the NHS themselves.
and that has nothing to do with illegal immigrants. If Brits spent their time dealing with and discussing the real issues - instead of Meghan and Harry - they might be in better shape!
Vote out to help out. 14 years of decline. Time to change vote Labour 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
A B C Anything But Conservative
Who is that woman? Presenters, please keep a lid on the lies. Abbott was not offered a peerage
What has problems did Sunak resolve ? NHS waiting lists ? Small boats ? The economy?
Potholes? Sewage in our rivers? Brexit? HS 2 ?
Tories and Sunak have completely failed us .
Sunak also has a bad temper and bad manners.
He has money - that is all it takes, folks. One, there was Truss, Sunak and Johnson in same government.
Your absolutely correct, is no contest, frighteningly the worst ever !! If they lose to the extent is expected Sunak has to go down at the greatest failure of all time.
Two more out of touch guests is hard to imagine
It is also time to tell the truth and apologise for lying in order to deceive people who are probably not very politically savvy.
Liz truss at least tried to be somewhat of a conservative
She had the right ideas she just wasn't PM material and she wasn't a complete fraud like Sunak, she certainly wouldnt have left the D-Day event early to focus on her campaign, same with Boris.
There is no way anyone is worse than liz truss
The Iraq War killed somewhere between 250,000 and 1.2 million people. Let me assure you, Blair was worse than Truss.
Well Sunak is catching up on her in the worst stakes.
Poor ol' Neville Chamberlain didn't get a good press but by the time Churchill took over the reins in May '40 he had contracted cancer and passed in November '40...
There is still a month of campaigning to go - I understand that Sunak has a mass seal cub kicking on the Northumberland coast lined up for the press on Monday...😂
Labour are in the door, that's fairly likely. Farage won the debate. Even with a bbc selected venue and crowd. Who did ask fair questions. Presenter usual bbc condescending fodder in which they have a vast number to choose from.
Christ almighty, yes it was a mistake to miss the D-Day event with the world leaders. Terrible judgement. But this is far far far from the disaster that was Lizz Truss.
Anyone who was part of Johnson's government is part of the overall problem. Just because we have a new Prime Minister, in fact, we've had three of them in just a single parliamentary term, doesn't change the fact that the government is still the same one elected in 2019, and is the same overall government in terms of ideology since 2010. Starmer might be a bit lame, but he has a legitimate point when he says we need to turn the page. If we hand the conservatives another term, then frankly, I've lost all faith in this country because talk about self destructive behavior. Thankfully all the signs currently suggest the tories are in for an absolute drumming, and I am looking forward to it.
Angela Knight, yes, we all remember her for her cronyism towards the Banks when she worked for their industry body. Why does TR have these people on here
Nonsense Jim; Truss would've left just as early if the choice was between honoring fallen heroes, or incompetently trying to further her political career... and even if she did end up staying longer, it would only be because she believed the first part was all about the second part. 😂
Please, please, please replace Rishi with Penny Mordaunt. RIsh's never going to lose his seat, but Mordaunt's in real trouble and raises the real possibility of the sitting Tory leader losing their seat. That would be Portillo to the max...
why would you want to stop that?! he deserves the shame and disgrace.
@@oitoitoi1 I'm not sure you've understood the point I was making. But for the record, replacing their leader with someone who four weeks later loses her seat leading to another change of leader would be entirely in character for the modern Conservative Party. I'd root for RIshi to lose his seat, but it just seems unlikely. That said, he's got another month to find a way to make it happen so you never know...
You say that... but Sunak's constituency contains the Catterick garrison and he's just disrespected the military monumentally. It could be far closer than we thought now.
Did she call Penny Mordaunt Caroline Dinenage?
Yes she did. And the presenter just let it slide.
We told the Con Party he was worse but the pathetic low life MP's went ahead and ejected the better one (Liz) and replaced with the flawed Rishi Sunak. Hope they are happy to lose their seats?
Some "mistakes" are so awful, so damning, that they cannot be forgiven....
As always, it's not what they say that matters, but what they don't say.
When Angela Knight talked about parties that might do well, she carefully avoided the Lib Dems. Why?
Electoralcalculus are predicting 61 seats for the Lib Dems on 9.7% of the vote and zero for Reform on 13.8%. While that might be too optimistic for the Lib Dems, many experts, and privately many Tory MPs, expert the Lib Dems to take a significant number of Tory seats.
The Tories fear Ed Davey far more than Nigel Farage, which is why they never mention him.
Lol changing the tory leader now would only work if they have someone better than Rishi but they don't, he's the best of them lol! What planet are they on if they think Mordant did well? A cardboard cut-out playing Tory talking points on repeat would have done the same thing.
Nonsense, bunny.
Problem is as Einstein put it, nobody with integrity would enter politics, hence the job attracts unscrupulous and narcissistic profiles, who of course rely on your vote to have you to blame, its a loose loose situation for the voters and s win win win for the politicians.
I have always voted Conservative. I have been telling them from Rishi Sunak downwards to my local MP for many months that they are going to I get hammered unless they apologise for their incompetence and start asking the right Qs and answering them. All their eyes just glaze over. It’s like you are talking to a cult member. They cannot engage in the issues and what has gone very badly wrong. Reform could not organise a government or an opposition. But they are asking the difficult Qs regardless whether you agree with their answers or not….
Bring Boris Back
so we can put him in the stocks?
Shame that the discussion descended into Party points scoring having started quite sensibly. Seems like second nature for politicians to defend the indefensible when their side get criticised. Equal fault really. Shame.
There was one that had an effect, the "I agree with Nick' debate all those years ago. I also think it captures at least some interest of people who aren't like me in that I read two newspapers a day. One leftwing and one rightwing.
Nope. It’s not “Rin” ap Iorwerth it’s “Hreen”.

The D-Day issue was terribly judged/advised. It speaks for itself. However. Irrespective of whether Labour will or will not raise taxed by £2000 over five years, Rishi Sunak told a palpable lie. He said the Treasury had signed off that figure when they had not. They then tried to fudge it by saying the figures were right and well researched and the Treasury had signed off a component. However, that has not gained cut through. I wonder why.
Did Mordaunt do well? She just repeated the same old trash the Tories have been spouting for weeks now and which has been shown to be misleading and inaccurate. I think lying to the public and talking absolute nonsense is not doing well, it's shameful.
Michel Hussain was terrible. She let Penny Maudant interrupt Rayner repeatedly, then stopped others from interrupting.
Saying that Rishi Sunak is worse than Liz Truss is a massive hot take indeed.
Diane Abacus in the House of Lords 🤣🤣🤣 That’s so absurd…but I can see Starmer doing it 🤣
My theory is that it was part of the deal that Cameron would get to play statesman at the D Day commemoration
D-Day Dodger Sunak Wants National Service. "We shall leave them on the beaches, we shall lie about taxes & if we are cross examined in a Public Enquiry about covid, partygate or brexit... we shall never remember"
Oh no he's not - to your headline. Liz Truss and Kwarteng completely trashed the economy with their silly self interested but ignorant ideas. Although not a constant Tory voter by any means, I happen to think Rishi Sunak just about saved Britain after the debacle of Truss and Kwarteng. My mortgage went up virtually overnight from £119 pcm to £300 to quickly £480 pcm...Shocking. On an income of OAP and circa £50 pcm...it has been a nightmare.
Lead the country? - Ritchie Sunak couldn't lead starving kittens to a bowl of milk.
Sunak is so callous, shows no compassion for anyone. He is really letting down the sickest, most disabled people at the moment and then when he left the D-Day earlier that says it all. He suppose to be on his best behaviour at the moment so we want to elect the tories and it is impossible for him to behave. He seems like Mr Bean, he just can't help himself.
Yup. he's worse... but that doesn't mean Truss gets any form of break... or Johnson.

Total tosh...Speak with intelligence. Truss was crazy. Sunak has been unlucky and drawn the short straw. Press has been on his back throughout.
In sports, a team is judged by their in-game performance, not their management style. In politics, the electorate does judge by management style and changing leaders in the middle of an election campaign looks chaotic. The Conservative party changing leader now will lose floating voters.
Its too late for floating voters, the pendulum swang so far that Starmer has been going after Tatcherites for the last few months, after D-day Sunak is so lost Starmer will be gunning for Borrisistas. If the election had been called for a little later he'd be trying to get Reform voters and Priti Patel would be defecting to Labour.
