    The coin I used was a 1948 Sixpence. Extremely common and not collectible in this date bracket. It is not a rare coin in any way shape or form.
    So let’s have a little context before commenting. I wouldn’t recommend doing this on something like a hammered. That would be ridiculous.
    In addition: People should be free to do what they will with coins THEY have found, that aren’t rare or collectible in anyway.
    With a date as modern as this, the outcome is purely subjective. I like how they look.
    So Let’s not be silly, eh?

    Put a bit of insulation tape around the end of each jaw of the pliers. Should avoid any potential damage caused to the coin 👍🏻

      Billy Arnold or just a small piece of cardboard where pliers grip the coin . I thought the same 👍🙂

    Thanks Kris good job, if you put a drop of hot glue on the inside of the Longnose pliers face it will help you hold it tighter without scratching the face of the coin👍

    Just don't do this to ANY coin that has ANY collector premium, because after you do it will have basically NO value to a collector and only be worth scrap metal value.

    Put the polish on the coin instead of the polishing mop Chris. Less will fly off. Nice end result. As a kid I used to polish old pennies with Brasso until they looked like gold coins.

    I guess it all comes down to personal preference. I did this to some old silver non-collectible coins a few years back. Now when I look at them it makes me sick. I prefer the frosted silver look to the mirrored silver look for coins. But I prefer the mirrored silver look for silverware and jewelry.

    Waaaah! Waaaah! Waaaah! You're not allowed to do that. You'll ruin the coins, you know. It's terrible. You should be ashamed of yourself. You're destroying history. It's against the law. It's the end of the world as we know it. Waaaah! Waaaah! Waaaah!

    This will ruin the coin! If you have a coine with any sort of numismatic value it will be worthless or reduced just to a piece of silver or gold. Never polish an old coin in any way or form. Valuable collectors coins are generally much more valuable untouched with a nice patina. As a general rule - never polish (or even touch it without a cotton glove) an old coin until you have got it appraised.

      @@Addictedtobleeps I think Yaroslav Baltiec needs to read your disclaimer in the description. Yes, I agree, with collectable valuable coins, it's said that you MUST NOT CLEAN COINS under any circumstances. However, I don't see the harm in cleaning the odd coin, just to see what they look like when they are 'nice and shiny'.

    • @yaroslav7856
      @yaroslav7856 4 роки тому +1

      @@Addictedtobleeps After such polishing, the coins completely lose their numismatic value. Now it can be used only as a trinket for keychains. I watch your channel, and I like your videos, but you can’t do that about coins, it’s barbarism in relation to them. Many people, because of their nescience, can repeat this with respect to old coins, i.e. we must protect history and not destroy it with our inept actions. I wish you good luck in the development of the channel and wish you to be careful about your findings. Best regards, Yaroslav.

      Yaroslav Baltiec Yaroslav. It’s common. It’s from 1948. It’s not even full silver. It’s worth about 40 pence.
      It’s not really barbarism is it? It’s a bit of metal. It’s not like it’s a dog.
