I used a $5 lavalier microphone connected to a gopro via a 3.5mm to mini USB connection. The microphone was taped to the rear side fairing probably 10 inches from the exhaust outlet. The presence of the rider's legs prevented wind noise from getting to it, so its pretty much all exhaust sound. I've also got a handful of other videos using similar microphone placement. Ear sex indeed. :)
@@gunthergunther7 I just rewatched my video, and in the title screen it says "microphone on muffler". I've done enough of these videos that I don't always remember what I did. I think the setup I mentioned was what I used on the SV650 Delkevic exhaust video, this one I just taped the microphone (same I mentioned above) to the end of the muffler right before the exhaust tip protruded. Either way, lots of exhaust sound, no wind noise.
@@gunthergunther7 Give it a shot! ABS would have saved my brother from crashing this bike. Bent the forks considerably, destroyed most of the fairings, bent front wheel, subframe damage, etc. Lots of damage. We are rebuilding it, he is okay. No, I didn't catch it on video unfortunately. He locked up the rear wheel braking before a corner, noticed that the engine stopped, and focused on figuring that out instead of turning. Don't let anyone tell you ABS is stupid.
It's an Delkevic 9 inch oval high mount. it involves cutting the stock headers by the muffler, but otherwise uses stock headers. The microphone is just a few inches away from the exhaust outlet.
