As you said, I think that the classical faces were more natural (or the beauty standard back then), now with plastic surgery, the standarts are becoming more unnattaible and unnatural and some people just look really similar (Ariana Grande, Megan Fox, Bella, etc.). To me, an angular jaw or angular features in general can look good but if it's way too angular, it becomes weird.

    • @wickedwonderland9831

Plastic surgery was prominent even back then and they already performed a wider variety of procedures. "Classical" beauties like Marilyn Monroe definitely had work done, there are documents that list a chin implant, among other things.

Classical Face vs Modern Face is like Old Money vs New Money. A classical face is more proportionate and low key, the modern face is more flashy and "extreme". But classic will never go out of style.

unattractivess is the unbalance. balance is beauty, not how small your nose is. unattractiveness is usually when people look at you and say "wow something is wrong here" or "something is off/missing/too much"

@@riorio745 I'm sorry you feel like that. Generally if you find yourself unattractive, that means you find yourself feeling like something is off with you and you can't point it out. That practically means unbalance is present. For myself, I had to study my face a lot by taking pictures, editing my face, adding/modifying looks, accesories and facial expressions. Currently im doing pretty good, especially when taking pictures but I learn something new about myself every month. Work on yourself if you need to and I hope nothing but the best comes for you too.

I believe according to research that attractiveness is about health and fertility. Stress levels, how fertile a man or woman is, and immune system are all reflective on someones face as well as body. Unfortunately with the presence of vanity and the world of materialism or aesthetics, we have moved from placing the importance on function to framing our views of attractiveness solely on how something visually looks. Although how someone looks correlates with their health, our eye has moved toward exaggerating these physical indicators of attractiveness to the point that they no longer reflect health. I hope this made sense. For example, the exaggerated hip to waist ratio found in anime and popular with plastic surgery. Realistically a woman does not have to have very large hips to have a healthy child birth, and they would have to be severely narrow for it to create problems. The extreme tiny waist and very large hips would also pose a problem bc those proportions would also make it difficult for child birth (womb being too narrow/ hips being too wide where baby may have too much room to come out the improper way?)

Our soft diet has also lead to more facial deformity than in the past. The soft sugars plus over taxing farm soil has led to food with poor nutrition. This distorts the thyroid hormones which are responsible for strong jaw development. This is why people need plastic surgery to begin with.

I've had this conversation several times with my sister. I think that the exaggeration of features we see in modeling is not really a comment on what regular people find attractive. We are inundated with advertising and models with exaggerated features when photographed in a particular way often makes for a more captivating image. When you watch videos of those models you can often see that they are not actually 'that attractive' they just photograph interestingly. I think the video mistakes what is essentially an advertising strategy for proper beauty ideals.

As someone who is half-French, I’ve known about Alain Delon my whole life.
His face fits perfectly in the modern era. The Hemsworth brothers don’t have super chiseled jawlines, and they’re lauded like crazy.
I’ve shown Purple Noon clips to female friends here in America over the years, (of all races), and without exception, every time, their reactions were like:
    😳🫢🤤
Even the ones who don’t prefer white guys would say, “damn, he fine as hell.”
Trust me, if Alain was young today, and a famous actor here in America, (he is actually considered one of France’s greatest actors), he’d be a MASSIVE sex symbol in this era…easily. I’d even bet he’d be more praised over guys like Hemsworth, Chalamet, Cavill, etc.

I'd like to see how one can glowup with respect to facial harmony rather than just the generic advice looksmaxxing or glowup other channels usually bring. QOVES has done really well delving deeper into facial attractiveness using more sophisticated terms, ratios, and peer-reviewed studies, so I'd like to see if it'd be possible to analyze how one can glow up or become more attractive wrt facial harmony with an otherwise average face or above-average face in some aspects offset by others.
For instance: women with more masculine faces/lower thirds, shorter more wider faces and how men/women can set their eyebrows, beards for accentuating or hiding certain parts of a strong/weak jaw, just otherwise average-looking people having their lack of facial harmony pointed out exactly (as often-times regular-looking people have a hard time pin-pointing what they look like and if they're ugly, normal, or somewhat desirable etc etc. I'm aware videos of similar themes have already been done but how about with headshots sent in by us average-looking subscribers?

@FuckOuttaHere The reddit amiugly one was deleted a week after per the reviewee's request I think. The other two were advice from Reddit or other online posts and just responding to stuff like "just be confident", hobbies, clothing, skincare etc. I'd like to see average looking subscribers send their faces in (there are many who would) and get them analyzed, told what they could non-surgically improve and the likes according to their face. People in the comments also disagree and they're rather insightful comments.
There's a tonne of celeb vids QOVES has made but it gets repetitive with these very good-looking people. I'm kinda tired of them and the requests personally. Even just rudimentary facial analysis or critique by subs from him would be a good taster into what their facial assessment offers (which is far, far more comprehensive) but that could arguably prevent people from buying an in-depth guide if they care enough only to get the taster...

My face is somewhat similar to your description in that other comment but I lack facial harmony since I've got deep set eyes + tear troughs from forward facial growth... so I look uncanny, a bit ugly I guess 😂. I think that these recent urge for really prominent jawlines and cheekbones could be a form to compensate the softer sugar rich diets that we have nowadays to keep the gene pool diverse, in ancient times probably just the fact that you survived a long time was enough proof that your genes were good for mating.
Similarly how our feet are getting worse and worse thanks to modern footwear.
It will be interesting how plastic surgery becoming more and more accessible will overlap with our traditional perceptions of beauty, like having a good jawline thanks to surgery, despite naturally being weak, so it becomes a problem for future generations.
Technology is becoming our shell against the harsh environment, it's not necessarily bad, at the end of the day is what makes us human, without it our survival rate is at it's minimum nowadays.

His chin was pushed forward and they took a piece of bone from his rib. he even had some bucal fat removed. Thank goodness this was entirely covered by insurance since it was medically necessary. • @Saffron-sugar
    @Saffron-sugar Рік тому +6

This is just my humble opinion, but looking at it from a different time perspective, this is interesting to me.
    I’m guessing you’re pretty young.
For example, when you say that preferences to feminine beauty was different 50 to 100 years ago, I don’t agree. Especially, in the United States, in the 1970s a particularly more angular and masculine look was fashionable for women.
Check out the strong facial structure in 70s icons: the model Veruschka, Lauren Hutton, Janice Dickinson, Farrah Fawcett, Beverly Johnson. Chiselled!
Look at the cover girl make up ads of the 1970s. All the models look the same. Cheryl Tiegs, Christie’s Brinkley all American, small light eyes thin lips dark blonde hair.
But, in the 1980s, full lips, doe like eyes and heart shaped faces were back in style. Look at early 80s Madonna. Her make up style tried to exemplify that.
The version of a woman’s face in the 1980s and the 1960s was called the “European“ look. Larger eyes more heart shaped faces etc etc.
In the 1950s women went for an almost childlike look. Less sharp definition. Softness, ultrafeminine.
But before that, the 1940s so very square shouldered fashion was very simple neat “handsome“ features. Katharine Hepburn for example.
Look at the idealised woman in the Edwardian era. They looked like dolls, ideally.
So, what are you calling classic beauty? I’ve watched the video but I’m not clear as to what time you were pinning as “classic“.
If you look at the ideal in a Rubens painting, we are back then, women’s faces would not be what you are considering classic in this video. So what?
Are we just saying generally uniformity versus lack of uniformity?
But, Marilyn Monroe had a very short chin, a small mouth and large eyes. She was not perfectly symmetrical. but she’s not modern either.
Why are fashion models often diamorphimally masculine? Because they’re freaking tall! Look at Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe, they were like 5”4. If you’re gonna be 6”+ tall, your bones are gonna have to be bigger. You’re not going to have tiny little size 5 Cinderella feet and you’ll probably have a stronger jawline. I’m not sure if that’s called “masculine“ or just big, because tiny men, like jockeys, don’t usually have huge jaws either.
As far as men are concerned
There is never been a time when a man with weak features was considered particularly attractive.
Never has a defined jawline has been out of style. Handsome Squidward has a chiselled square jaw and square chin like Kirk Douglas did (not the modern look). The type of defined man’s jaw and chin that’s fashionable and right now is more gracile. Angled and pointed rather than blocky…. With the exception of Brad Pitt who has a square face. Or is he classic?

It is interesting how beauty standards and ideals are often local and vary between different groups of people. For example, here in Finland, childlikeness, innocence, lightness and femininity are admired in the facial appearance of men, for example the young Leonardo Dicaprio or the young Elvis Preley (i.e. babyface) roughly corresponds to the current ideal and beauty standard of facial structure in Finland. On the other hand, it is also considered ideal that there are no significant appearance differences between the faces of women and men so that children can have "the face of their mother." The ideal for women's faces in Finland is the same as for men they should not be too formal, cold and rigid, but radiant, pleasant and alive. However, so that the soft and round but clear and visible lines of the face are also admired according to people.

The major difference between what you call classic beauty and modern beauty (aka fake beauty) is related to the selection process operated by the studios which are less exigent on the beauty factor ...and the strong jawline is certainly linked nowadays to the generalization of orthodontia and plastic surgery rather than good genes, particularly for the women ... Many of major actors of previous generations were striking beauties coming from nowhere while the new ones are just pretty guys with connections ... Hudson / Grant vs Clooney / Affleck , Redford vs Pitt , Delon / Curtis vs Cruise ...

I think people are forgetting that both the classic and modern aesthetic of faces existed back then and exist today. All people look different, and trends come and go. Now people on here are criticizing the “modern” face saying it looks “unnatural” compared to the classic. People don’t just wake up in the morn ing and put on a different shape jaw. Some are born this way and some aren’t. You are comparing a current beauty standard to an old one; neither is representing the whole of the human population that isn’t a model. There were square jaws in the 50’s and there are soft features now. Prominent bone structure can’t be unnatural because it’s a common human trait. Just stop obsessing over beauty standards and realize that genetics don’t care about fashion trends and people will always look different from one another.

It's interesting to me that Paul had the heartthrob status despite the flaws I've mentioned.
