I really loved the Zach Snyder remake of Dawn of the Dead. The fast zombies were done in a way that made the fear of the outside world so real. They knew that every survivor they met could mean the death of them all!
DreamcastGuy I thought it was great as a popcorn horror flick, but it lacked the impact Romero's societal commentary had. I do think it gets snubbed a lot now that zombies are everywhere though. People forget how great that movie was for the time.
EuroTrasho Productions I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they were targeting two completely different types of audiences. I always feel like Zach Snyder is always within inches of greatness with his films, but almost always falls short. I wonder if that's just his M.O., or if he's the victim of studio revisions.
Jacob McQuaid I completely agree. With horror, and really any sort of narrative, you need to pare it down to the smallest cast possible to convey the story. Makes everything that much more meaningful. That's one thing that Romero really got in his older films.
I first saw this film on a grainy VHS in the early 1990's as a young guy. It blew me away. Such great social commentary, and an interesting story about what life would be like in the wasteland. I love the characters too.
HorrorNinja847 Zombie aka Zombie Flesh Eaters was a huge reason why I feel in love with the undead, which in turn made Resident Evil my favorite gaming series, of course I was far to young to be watching the uncut version of Zombi but it scared me in a good way lol.
I found a whole lot of things wrong with the remake that makes me want to throw it out of my window. I till support and own it on blueray, but damn, they really didn't do as good as I originally thought as a teenager when it came out
My personal favorite was Day of the Dead, the make up effects and the kills were something to behold. However I do recognize that Night of the Living Dead is perhaps the best movie in the series. It was the precursor to modern day horror and it's truly a horror masterpiece.
To bad and SOO SAD.. we don't and prolly will never have talent and movies like these again George Romero, James Cameron.. Peter Jackson.. ect... movies were and will forever be the best from 1960-1990s music is dead movies are dead and soon our planet will be too thanks guys "You know who you are..." but.. on the plus side at least our games are getting better
Night of the Living Dead wasn't about the civil rights movement. The only reason that Ben is black was because Duane Jones was the best actor to audition for the role. Most of the script was rewriten based on the actors' views of their characters.
Meanwhile on PS4, The Last Guardian, Uncharted 4, Horizon, Gran Turismo 7 (maybe), Street Fighter 5, Final Fantasy 7 Remake (Maybe), Hellblade, Ratchet And Clank. PS4 is going to kill it next year. Xbone will probably just get another Halo remake.
Chris Beatty and look at the lying ass sony pony that thinks they have actual good games, last guardian is 10 years too late, Uncharted 4 seen that movie 3 times already, Hellblade? Yeah let's bet on Ninja Theory lol, ratchet and clank let's make a game about a movie about the very first game.... so original, Horizon? Show me a Guerilla studios game that isn't subpar and I'll get excited, FF7 is multiplatform so that kills any sony excitement, Gran Turismo? Yeah uuhhhh unless they can better the sound quality so all the cars don't sound the same or even have some decent damage physics then they can keep it. Oh yeah SF5 only the fighting community cares for that so it isn't a system seller. The one game you didn't mention and the only interesting one was Shenmue 3 and honestly the majority of people don't even know what that game is so there goes that selling point.
Whew for a minute I read this title as walking dead instead of dawn of the dead and I was gonna have to get really pissed and leave a two paragraph long complaining comment about how walking dead is really overrated

DreamcastGuy Nothing compares to the original. Original is so much better then the remake.
EuroTrasho Productions I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they were targeting two completely different types of audiences.

Cast size of the remake made the deaths less meaningful. Both Roger and Steve's deaths in the original carried a lot of weight.

The remake was my childhood zombie film. Along with Shaun of the Dead. Those movies rock!
Such a great masterpiece. No zombie film will ever compare to Dawn and Day of the dead...Also check out Zombi from Lucio Fulci.
Amen Brother!,With Hulk hogan voice💪
HorrorNinja847

I love the gore for Zombi...that eye scene is cringe worthy!
I personally think the original Night of the living dead was better.
Both great movies. Day of The Dead is my favorite personally.
The remake is *good* but nowhere near as good as the original.
I liked night of the living dead more
I found a whole lot of things wrong with the remake that makes me want to throw it out of my window. I till support and own it on blueray, but damn, they really didn't do as good as I originally thought as a teenager when it came out
The newer dawn of the dead was great I just wanted closure
Troy Oliver It was great until the stupid ending.
Exactly
CthonicSoulChicken i was a sad boys during the credits

The original dawn of the dead will always be a classic. I have seen it so many times.
Original Dawn of the Dead was also the rise of Tom Savini.
Hey, now I truly know where Dead Rising 1 comes comes from. Thanks IGN
You know why M$ made the backwards compatible on Xbone Vcr????
Because Xbone will have no games starting from next year.
Troll?
Chikin Loaf An Xboner????

I have no friends....
IGN will be your friend. You can be each other's first friend
Yeah ok sure " first " 😂
Second
When will we get another great "zombie" film? Every other zombie film I've see at this point was bullshit. Thk god for the walking dead.
i just love how Mr Claiborn always rocks the 80s porn star look XD
Dawn of the Dead cost $1.5m to make - not $650.000
Return of the living dead is the greatest zombie movie ever!
Whew for a minute I read this title as walking dead instead of dawn of the dead and I was gonna have to get really pissed and leave a two paragraph long complaining comment about how walking dead is really overrated
I do get the point in how these slow movers took over the world it seems over the top since they are slow and stupid.

Well..I was first..
