For all the USA peeps, etc ... (US girl here living in England). Flapjacks in the UK are basically a buttery oat bar. In the US a flapjack is another name for a PANCAKE ... yes, confusing. 🇺🇲🇬🇧
Same in Australia, a flapjack which are usually boring but the UK flapjack is a bit like a muesli bar.
About a year ago my husband asked me to cut his hair. He handed me the clippers and I made the first cut up the back of his head. Well! What a shock I got when it made a bald stripe up the back......he had forgotten to put the guard on the clippers! As the initial shock wore off I roared with laughter. Needless to say we had to finish the job and he ended up with a very closely buzzed head!
Oh my Gosh, that's funny and a great memory for sure.

Colleen Serra My daughter and family lived in England for many years before moving back here to Phoenix. I just loved going over there and they took my husband and I to so many areas of England. I wanted pancakes but we couldn't find a place that served them. We took a trip up to Edinburgh, Scotland and a cafe had them but they were served more as a dessert with caramel. Very good
The little differences and contrasts between the British and American speech and labeling makes their videos so fun!

I always feel happy when I see a new video from you both. I love coming along with you for walks, especially when you are greeted by the animals~.Now that you remembered to take an apple with you, you will have a friend for life. The sweet treats looked delicious. Here in the U.S., what you call Flap Jacks we call Granola Bars. What we call Flap Jacks are a type of pancake. Regardless, a visit with you is always a happy occasion.

The countryside is so beautiful. It reminds me of where I grew up in Northern California. I am getting older but still hold on to my dream of getting to the UK. It is so nice to see a couple so happy together after so many years. Your videos are a calming spot in my otherwise hectic day. Thank you again for sharing.
Kelly - May I ask where in northern California you grew up? I’m in So. Calif., but looking into Nor Calif. to maybe re-locate. The problem is, I don’t know where to look other than Davis or maybe Woodland.

You all have made a friend with the horses for life. I use to own Tennessee Walking Horses and spent the summer showing them. It was wonderful. They love apples and carrots. I grew up with kaffeeklatsch in the afternoon and Mom baked all the time. I enjoy daily tea time with my husband now and you have inspired me to use the nice china everyday. Life is too short to wait for special occasions only.

I have had to cut my husband’s hair, too. He has naturally curly hair, so it gets bigger rather than longer it seems 😂. Your flapjacks are similar to our homemade granola bars here in the US. Our flapjacks are also know as pancakes and are a light and fluffy breakfast food. They are delicious topped with fresh fruit (esp blueberries and strawberries) and maple syrup.
Oh yes, curly hair getting long is so tricky.
I love the dancing. I love how you light candles, sit at the table with your cookies and tea. Everything is so enjoyable and fancy. In the US we just grab a cookie and eat it wherever. We also call flapjacks, 🥞 pancakes. What you call flapjacks , we call granola bars. So interesting. That's one reason I love watching. Thank you!

When I think of England (from the Midwest USA) I always imagine everything you guys present. From the countryside to your beautiful cottage to the cloths you wear. By the way, in the Midwest I think pancakes are called flapjacks. So lovely to watch you guys.

Kirsten & Joerg, so nice to see you again. The dancing was so sweet, and yes, even romantic. Here in the USA, oddly enough, Flapjacks are another name for Pancakes. I think the reference came from the Old West (certain states in the Western part of our country). It was jargon used by settlers and miners in States such as California, Arizona (example:Tombstone), etc. Isn't it interesting how one word can mean something so different in another part of the world? Thank you both for such a fun video. You are making some nice friends along the way, on your walks. My husband and I have 3 horses in their corral. Yesterday, we came home from being gone for a few hours (necessary travel, a Drs appt) and they were so glad to see us that they began showing off by being silly, jumping around (bucking), running back and forth, lest we forget how special and beautiful they are. lol. I think we have all learned some valuable lessons during this time of quarantine, about how to slow down and live more simply. We are awaiting Jeeves & Wooster to arrive. Looking forward to that.
