first time I saw this ballet was in the Staatsoper as same day substitution for cancellation of Elektra -- totally enthralled, so tried to fit in as many ballets possible between operas. think also his Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella at Staatsoper. Ashton's creativity is unreal. Staatsoper and Volksoper used 2 different versions of same ballet.

Ive seen them live on many occasions and when they take the final curtain call you can see the genuine affection they have for each other and they are so at ease with each other. Two lovely talented and modest dancers who have been a great asset to royal ballet. Thier is nothing they carnt do regarding different roles from comedy to tragedy.
I love this and it was sooooooooo gorgeous!!! As a dancer, this looks so stressful! Like at 1:00 when he goes to his knee what if she had it too tight and he couldn’t go down or it during the turns when the ribbons around her waist if he held the ribbon too tight and she fell back😬 Props to them! They’re amazing!!! 🤩
Having to do cats cradle on stage would have given me a heart attack. You messed that up you ruin it all. Guess I am thankful I never had the principal role in this one. But these two are sublime together as two of the best dancers ever to come out of the Spanish-speaking world.
