The few churches I've been to over the last 30 years have not taught the "renewing of the mind". I see why my spiritual growth has been almost non existent. Galations 5 warns Chrisitians not to go back to living according to the flesh because if you are living according to the flesh, you won't enter God's Kingdom. There are so many warnings in the New Testament to Christians not to go back to sin.
Personally, as a believer, I would say no. I am comforted by His Holy Spirit in knowing a person who was a believer in the past will be with his Savior forever.
