For 65-66 you could get a special order 273 HO V8 with race cam, tube headers, Offy intake and Holley carb producing 275hp. This was in direct response to the wonderful 271 hp 289 from Ford, and the equally good 283/327 Chevy II/Nova.
@@fingling8 That was my first barracuda because it’s the year I was born, originally bought by a minister while in the Air Force in alaska, shipped back to the lower 48, with 89,000 miles on it. Slant six with auto console on the floor, low bucket seats, red inside and out, all original. I always thought it was a strange color and model for a preacher, lol ! My kids look forward to my collections, as bad as that sounds, lol ! I’ve got more than just those three in old vehicles. I’ve sold most of my collection of old cars though. The ten I’ve got left I’ve had to turn a lot of offers down on. I’ll keep you in mind just in case though.😉👍🇺🇸
@@fingling8 I bought that 65 for 300 bucks and the guy spent more than that to bring it to me because he wanted it to go to a good home. Fresh engine and transmission rebuild by a race engine business before I got it. He also had a wreck in his new truck on the way to bring it to me, so it really costed him a lot, from three states away. Found it on a barracuda forum about 15-20 years ago. 100 bucks for the ‘66, and a hundred bucks and cutting up a fallen tree for the ‘67 f/s. I used to buy and trade a lot of old vehicles from the late 80’s to early 2,000’s. Probably went through at least a few hundred through my life. Started buying old vehicles when I was 14, but didn’t have a storage place until I got older, so bought, traded, and sold until then. I actually had bought and traded for many more 65-66 barracudas but never ended up picking them up for one reason or another.
Aw, you're killing me. I loved my car. Mustangs are pretty--too pretty. The Barracuda had so many better solutions. Wish I'd tried sleeping in the back of mine, but I'd imagine it got pretty hot under that glass, never mind the privacy!
Nothing personal I used to own a 1965 mustang convertible 289 very responsive to 289 but I didn't like the way to mustang drove to tell you the truth I just didn't like it now I own a 66 barracuda 4 speed formulas stock and comparison the barracuda drives way better not exactly faster but it drove much better
funny how plymouth brags about their car being heavier and has larger brakes to the mustang..seeing the cudas slightly larger brakes dont really matter cuzz the car its self is heavier then the mustang..so i bet it equals out to about the same
607,000 Mustangs were sold in 1966 38,000 Barracuda sold in 1966
Your point?

At the time any one of the three would be fun, even now they would be the same.
I own a 66 cuda only has 44 thousand original miles on it
sounds like it was driven by a little old lady. Oh, I didn''t mean to insult you!
Love em both, I have a 65 mustang and my father a 65 barracuda
Mustang fastback is the only ford I ever liked. I have 3 barracudas. 65, 66, and 67 f/s .

I wonder if Steve McQueen ever saw this. . .
the Mustang is still around, the 'cuda (like all Plymouths) is history...
But mopar is way more badass than ford
Mustang ain't no kiddie car. Let's see that 273 beat a 289 Hi Po! Shelby GT350, Paxton supercharger, anyone?!😁😗

The 66 was the ugliest fish ever
.....I had a 68
Yeah, but the Barracuda still looks like a Valiant.
5610winston because valiant that was their last year on the cuda
But that's a GOOD thing! I think the Valiant was beauty. I had one ('65) and a Barracuda (273 V8 '65).
I have 66 barracuda 273 it a nice car and not many around it sure have people ask what is
@@ivananderson5041 I'll bet. A kid today would not have a clue.
I like how, with wrenches in hand, the dealer will perform a six way adjustment on the drivers seat!
Yeah you always want your sports car to be heavier and have less power. The sales figures say it all

I smashed my 66 Barracuda head-on into a Mustang, I don't think either won. Both drivers walked away, so I guess neither lost.
Actually the mustang was a pretty flimsy car.add the drop in gas tank danger and barracuda looks a lot better....
The Mustang had better lines. The cuda looks bulky. The only way they look good is pro street them. But they are still ugly
funny how plymouth brags about their car being heavier and has larger brakes to the mustang..seeing the cudas slightly larger brakes dont really matter cuzz the car its self is heavier then the mustang..so i bet it equals out to about the same
it is better then the mustang
"Ba-ba-ra-ra-cu-cu-da-da!"
Yeah but the mustang still looks like a falcon 😜😂😂😂
A year later camaro destroyed em
With oil consumption numbers
