I never understand why no one also picks up on the connection here. There’s a fish known as the remora. It’s basically a suction cup fish that sticks to other animals and eats off of them. It makes perfect sense that a suction cup can turn into an octopus.

Ooo, fun fact: Remoraid was supposed to be more like a gun-fish, and Octillery would have been an armoured octopus tank, which would have made a lot more sense because gun evolving into tank. But I assume because of the controversy with that Safari Zone episode where the Warden put a loaded rifle directly against a 10 year old's head, they didn't want to touch any more weapon/military things.
From my understanding, the Sun/Moon arc was suppose to be a series reboot, de-aging Ash back down to 10 and having him "Start his Pokemon adventure" like it's all new to him. One of the big issues is that they made it so inconsistent. It's suppose to be a total story reboot for Ash but yet when he meets back up with Misty/Brock, he talks about how they were old friends and recollects some of their past travels together.
Actually in beta development, Remoraid looked more gun-like and Octillery looked more tank-like and that was the connection. A fish pistol becomes an Octopus tank. They removed the weapon stuff mostly but if u look closely at Remoraid, u can still c some gun components.
Regarding Serperior; I agree that losing arms doesn't make a whole lot of sense - though there's mentions in Snivy's Pokedex entries that its vines are more dexterous than its arms, and, as someone else mentions, Serperior actually keeps them, they're just tucked away behind the back - but the loss of legs actually /does/ make sense. Once a Servine evolves into Serperior, it has, simply put, gotten much too big for the legs its previous forms had. It'd never be able to hold up its own weight with them, so they would have been completely superfluous.
A couple of things: - toucans are actually part of the woodpecker order, while pidgey goes from being a songbird to a raptor, two much more distantly related birds, so pikipek to toucannon makes more sense than pidgey to pidgeot. And don't get me started on spearow and fearow. - regarding serperior, there are quite a few limbless, serpentine animals whose ancestors did have limbs, so even though they often are, limbs aren't always a plus. Presumably for serperior, it's akin to poliwag or mankey losing their tails when they evolve. - antlions go through complete metamorphosis in real life, so it makes sense the different stages don't resemble each other all that much - wurmple doesn't look all that much like its evolved forms for the same reason.

Flygon and it’s evolutionary line make sense for sure. It’s based on the Antlion and it’s adult metamorphosis the Lacewing which looks very similar to a dragonfly.
Yes. The larva of an Antlion is actually pretty much IDENTICAL to how Trapinch looks. That one is a common complaint by fans...but just struck me as poorly researched to me since you can go on google now and it takes you all of three seconds to find a larva for an Antlion and notice how close it looks to Trapnich.

Wait, What?! Going from steel to stone makes no sense! Steel is much stronger than stone, did something go wrong and its weapons accidentally get swapped during development? *Runerigus -Not really for the evolution itself, but rather HOW you get it to evolve. You need to have a Galarian Yamask that has taken 49 or more damage in your party and walk under a stone archway in the wild area.

Venonat's eyes, antenna, and hands closely resemble that of Butterfree's and even has matching coloration...so it would make more sense for Venonat to evolve into Butterfree than into Venomoth. And Metapod's eyes and head-shape resembles Venomoth more than Butterfree. Also, this is Pokemon and not real life so even though they may resemble real life animals, they don't always follow real-world animal logic. They were saying it didn't make since from an overall design standpoint of the actual Pokemon; and had nothing to do with actual real-world scientific reasoning. But you are basically saying "this is how it is in the real world so you are wrong and stupid."
Trapinch is literally a larval antlion, and Serperior does have little arms behind its back, not to mention that the Remoraid/Octillery thing is because they are based off of a water gun and tank respectively (though they could still be more similar colours)
Tadpoles have the spiral look due to their intestines being able to be seen through their skin, and tadpoles turn into frogs/toads. Polywag is literally a tadpole. Polywhirl is the tadpole after it loses it tail and has grown legs. Politoed is... The Frog/Toad I honestly thought we all learned this in the first 3 years of school. Poliwrath, I can't explain that, probably just appeasing to people that don't get the whole tadpole to frog thing.
I don't see anything strange about Carvanha evolving into Sharpedo. It's a freshwater predator evolving into a saltwater predator, as you pretty much said.

Uh, Flygon's entire evolutionary line is an antlion, it makes complete sense, most people don't know what antlions look like though and they end up thinking Flygon is a dragonfly, because that is a pretty logical leap. Trapinch is a larval antlion. Dragonite's evolutionary chain is based off the salamander, and it does actually make sense within Japanese mythos.
Serperior, Butterfree, Politoed, Toucannon and Solgaleo fit their evolutionary lines just fine. Whoever made this list doesn't know enough about Pokemon designs.
It would’ve made sense if Politoed was light blue to distinct itself from its pre evolutions. I also joked this with my friends “Why is he not called ‘Polifrog’ instead?”

Cosmog line also makes sense. Cosmog is interstellar gas that compresses together as Cosmoem to form a star or another celestial body.

Apart from the colour change, gyarados actually has quite a lot in common with magikarp. It's just a long, more menacing blue version.
Ooo, fun fact: Remoraid was supposed to be more like a gun-fish, and Octillery would have been an armoured octopus tank, which would have made a lot more sense because gun evolving into tank. But I assume because of the controversy with that Safari Zone episode where the Warden put a loaded rifle directly against a 10 year old's head, they didn't want to touch any more weapon/military things.
Considering that Ash is still 10 years, the evolutions make a little more sense

From my understanding, the Sun/Moon arc was suppose to be a series reboot, de-aging Ash back down to 10 and having him "Start his Pokemon adventure" like it's all new to him. One of the big issues is that they made it so inconsistent. It's suppose to be a total story reboot for Ash but yet when he meets back up with Misty/Brock, he talks about how they were old friends and recollects some of their past travels together.

Cosmog is a nebula. Cosmoem is a protostar. Solgaleo is the freaking star. It's represented by a lion eating the sun in alchemy.
Actually in beta development, Remoraid looked more gun-like and Octillery looked more tank-like and that was the connection. A fish pistol becomes an Octopus tank. They removed the weapon stuff mostly but if u look closely at Remoraid, u can still c some gun components.
Regarding Serperior; I agree that losing arms doesn't make a whole lot of sense - though there's mentions in Snivy's Pokedex entries that its vines are more dexterous than its arms, and, as someone else mentions, Serperior actually keeps them, they're just tucked away behind the back - but the loss of legs actually /does/ make sense.
Once a Servine evolves into Serperior, it has, simply put, gotten much too big for the legs its previous forms had. It'd never be able to hold up its own weight with them, so they would have been completely superfluous.
Flygon is based on adult antlions trapinch is based of the larvae....
Ie Flygon is called a Lacewing Dragonfly so it does make sense so they don't understand the meaning of the evolution of the Antlions to adulthood.

A couple of things:
- toucans are actually part of the woodpecker order, while pidgey goes from being a songbird to a raptor, two much more distantly related birds, so pikipek to toucannon makes more sense than pidgey to pidgeot. And don't get me started on spearow and fearow.
- regarding serperior, there are quite a few limbless, serpentine animals whose ancestors did have limbs, so even though they often are, limbs aren't always a plus. Presumably for serperior, it's akin to poliwag or mankey losing their tails when they evolve.
- antlions go through complete metamorphosis in real life, so it makes sense the different stages don't resemble each other all that much - wurmple doesn't look all that much like its evolved forms for the same reason.
The reasoning behind Octillery and Remoraid is that Remoraid is supposed to represent a pistol, and Octillery is supposed to represent a tank.
I'm so tired of this tuff. Okay, let's begin: 1. Remoraid is a gun and Octillery is a turret.
2. Serperior DOES have arms, they're just folded behind it's back.
3. Clamperl is a fish egg nested inside an oyster, not an actual oyster.
4. Flygon is an antlion, they look completely different when they mature then their larvae form.

Flygon and it’s evolutionary line make sense for sure. It’s based on the Antlion and it’s adult metamorphosis the Lacewing which looks very similar to a dragonfly.

Yes. The larva of an Antlion is actually pretty much IDENTICAL to how Trapinch looks. That one is a common complaint by fans...but just struck me as poorly researched to me since you can go on google now and it takes you all of three seconds to find a larva for an Antlion and notice how close it looks to Trapnich.

Serperior does have arms, it just keeps them tucked behind its back as it has a Superiority complex and chooses not to use them. It loses its legs as Snakes don’t have legs.

Remoraid was based on a gun originally, and its evolution, octillery (misspelled that-), was originally based on a tank. Obviously they can’t have those in a Pokémon game, so they made ‘em look like a fish with a little resemblance to a gun, and an octopus with a little resemblance to a tank

I think they are more talking about appearance. If you look at the Pokemon's actual appearance...Venonat looks like it should evolve into Butterfree way more than into Venomoth.

Venonat's eyes, antenna, and hands closely resemble that of Butterfree's and even has matching coloration...so it would make more sense for Venonat to evolve into Butterfree than into Venomoth. And Metapod's eyes and head-shape resembles Venomoth more than Butterfree. Also, this is Pokemon and not real life so even though they may resemble real life animals, they don't always follow real-world animal logic.
They were saying it didn't make since from an overall design standpoint of the actual Pokemon; and had nothing to do with actual real-world scientific reasoning. But you are basically saying "this is how it is in the real world so you are wrong and stupid."
Trapinch is literally a larval antlion, and Serperior does have little arms behind its back, not to mention that the Remoraid/Octillery thing is because they are based off of a water gun and tank respectively (though they could still be more similar colours)
Tadpoles have the spiral look due to their intestines being able to be seen through their skin, and tadpoles turn into frogs/toads.
Polywag is literally a tadpole.

I don't see anything strange about Carvanha evolving into Sharpedo. It's a freshwater predator evolving into a saltwater predator, as you pretty much said.
I mean, this is an anime about ten year olds traveling the world while befriending garbage, a magnet and an ice cream cone. I'm pretty sure sense went out the window when they were making this franchise.
Uh, Flygon's entire evolutionary line is an antlion, it makes complete sense, most people don't know what antlions look like though and they end up thinking Flygon is a dragonfly, because that is a pretty logical leap. Trapinch is a larval antlion.
Dragonite's evolutionary chain is based off the salamander, and it does actually make sense within Japanese mythos.
Serperior, Butterfree, Politoed, Toucannon and Solgaleo fit their evolutionary lines just fine. Whoever made this list doesn't know enough about Pokemon designs.
It would’ve made sense if Politoed was light blue to distinct itself from its pre evolutions. I also joked this with my friends “Why is he not called ‘Polifrog’ instead?”

Poliwag, Poliwhirl, and Poliwrath are tadpoles and Politoed is a frog/toad. Based on the real world animals, it makes perfect sense, even the colors.
I will admit that a serpentine dragon evolving into a generic, cartoony Western dragon still doesn't make sense to me.
