Yes you can day paddle to the cliffs. I would put in at Squirrel rapids. You will have to do a 400 or so meter portage and then you can paddle all the way to the canyon. I expect if you gave yourself 5+ hours you could easily do it.

I need to find a dogsitter...my Lacey would not handle paddling or running into other dogs very well...
