Dr Richards made an excellent point when he encouraged the students to educate themselves and balance their views. What I really like about Dr Richards is how he makes taboo topics open for discussion and encourages people to see multiple perspectives and think outside the narrative.

This man continually shows why he survives the environment at Penn. I love it.

Penn (or UPenn or Wharton) is the Ivy League private school in Phila. This is Penn State, also a good school but very different...

This is an unintended masterclass on the problems of self-identification. I don't think the teacher understands what he's actually communicating. And notice the Indian student the first thing that he does to justify himself or his position is to go to consensus. And the teacher immediately points out the problem of if you go with consensus it will eliminate the trans argument. Because most people don't agree that women can just be men.

29 mins in he says that the guy celebrated Diwali insinuating that if he did then that makes him less American. But yet for example many of us Irish Americans with ancestors many generations back have celebrated St. Patrick’s day and also kept traditions like corned beef and potatoes and Irish dancing lessons. No one would say that makes us less American.

I am 66 and I kid you not the first time I was around Black women I wanted to be a Black woman and really felt like I was . I of course could not act on that impulse but in comfortable situations I have shared that with others. It was a deep feeling and I understand it much better now than beck 62 years ago. I embraced that side of me but I also do not like offending people so its kind of been a secret feature. There's your example SAm. Loved this class. Every Saturday morning I was watching Soul Train, and I used to pin curl the heck out of my hair till it coiled. Interesting I never felt like my eventual boyfriends should be Black because I also knew that most Black women that generation, were not too excited about white women dating Black men.(and my connection to Black women gave me BIG empathy (But if this were today, I'd be Black right?💝💝💝Please read my comment in the most positive perspective. About 5 years ago I had a surprise in my genealogy

In response to Izzie, “…race is the no- no zone”. A biological male evidenced by male sex characteristics, male genitalia and chromosomes can claim to be a woman. Yet, my very Scottish appearance with 5% African DNA can’t claim to be black?

I think BLM has been a net positive since it progressed consciousness about race relations and people are now discussing things that weren't much talked about publicly before and this is something that needs to happen along with all the disagrements because it leads us to finding more common ground in the end.

    • @kielhawkins9529

It is based upon verifiable lies, so I'm not sure how exactly that's a positive.
Such as the lie that unarmed black individuals are being "exterminated" by police, which there is zero data to support (this specific teacher has a class pointing that out). The "hands-up, don't shoot" lie? The "Derrick Chavin murdered George Floyd" lie that started the stuff in 2020 (fyi, Floyd died of a massive fentynal OD. Multiple Sources confirmed it).
Not to mention the billions in property damage, lives and livelihoods lost during 2020.
BLM deepened a divide based on lies for political and monetary gain for a small group of people at the top.

So, I always notice how people seem to use "being American" and "being white" interchangeably. If you are born in the US you are most definitely American, regardless of your race and/or religion 🤦🏼‍♀️

What a ridiculous religion, sorry for the Jains. The idea of doing no harm to life, is impossible, given all that is edible comes from life. Do you hear the scream of the rice as it's hewn down?

      ND Tyson likes (way too much) to speculate on alien visitors to Earth whose sentient body operates on chlorophyl chemistry generated by photosynthesis;
photosynthetic aliens hearing any pro-vegan plant-based diet argument would enflamme them to become violently enraged…

I identify as a rich person but my bank account doesn't show it. Would you accept a check from me for your house or car.
I'll write a check to you for any amount of money because I'm filthy rich. So you should take my check. And I'll take your car and house.

Arguing both sides is largely an exercise in practicing intellectual dishonesty.
I could advance arguments for a flat earth, as long as I'm willing to knowingly advance arguments that are wrong, full of holes, and misleading.
