@ClaytonBridges oh. I didn't expect a reply. Since your here, I have an ls400 as well and plan on replacing the radio, Amp and sub as the aftermarket radio I got with the car doesn't allow the stock sub yo be used. So I'm gonna buy new everything. Hopefully it goes as smooth as yours did.
Nice! Just found your channel when looking for a guide to remove my radio from my '95 LS400. I was thinking of doing new speakers and putting a sub in the stock location too!
Nice! Hopefully ill be finishing up these videos soon. I'm pretty happy with it so far, but I wont lie, Its taking alot of tweaking to get where I want it. Also the 8" subs that are free air subwoofers probably won't ever be as loud as a sub in a ported box. Esp since you can easily have like, a 12" subwoofer in the trunk
I don't have a Ls, but am looking for vid's on the pioneer 8" free air. I own a ford c-max with a kick-ass sound system. Just want my bass a little more isolated, so I can enjoy full sound.
It's still going and bumping pretty hard! I think it sounds pretty good and is about all the bass I really need, sounds like it would work for you too! It does need an aftermarket amp, and idk what the cmax has for mounting it
I plan to one day get a DSP, and a good aftermarket amp because I want to run the stock radio on my car, and keep the stock pioneer system which still sounds great! But my cars sub sounds like the voice coil could by dying because there is very little bass coming from the sub, and my radio refuses to play cassettes, and the CD function, only plays sound from the left speakers on max voluime and it's very faint. So I think before seeing if my sub is dying, or if my amp is just old and bad. My radio needs to be repaired first and I will run a cassette aux coverter to a bluetooth receiver (as I like my stock radio and I don't want a AEM headunit because I want the car to remain as stock as possible, with a stock feel.) But my FM radio is loud and clear. So who knows it'll be an adventure to seek out on my 93 LS. I ahve a single 12 in my focus and I hate it xD It's too much bass, and yeah its cool lol but it overpowers the audio and there's not good balance of bass, and treble/vocals.
yeah thats a huge reason I went with this sub, its powerful, but doesnt really overwhelm the rest of the system. I like Bass, but I need to hear the rest of the song lol Sounds like you have your work cut out for you! its good to have a project to keep you busy sometimes
Yes it did.. I ended up having to completely get rid of it ans just run it open.. its uglier but kind of shows off the speaker and ofc no 3rd brake light. But, you could possibly make it work with foam or double sided tape, I didnt have the patience

I used a dremel for the plastic. In my newer fender videos I show that I eventually made a sub bracket out of MDF wood. I think this is a way better solution. This is the material most people make alot of subwoofer stuff out of.
@@ClaytonBridges figured, I’ve actually been following your journey for a while but I’m finally properly upgrading because previously I just drilled holes directly in the sheet metal LMAO. Thank u!
well I really have no idea. The LS430 is a completely different car, so Im going to assume no. If the LS430 has a 8" area to mount a subwoofer and you can figure out a mounting situation, that can work if you have an aftermarket radio Most of this can be done on anything, but the specific mounting points, and the harness for the radio wont be the same. Like theres no reason you couldnt use this subwoofer and amplifier, IF the LS430 has an 8" sub area
I used one of the sort yes. Theres a special one that includes the factory sub amp, but its very expensive. It also depends on if you had the pioneer or nakimichi system as well. I have a video where I installed the radio, I used the typical radio install style that you can buy anywhere just about
@@ClaytonBridges yeah it’s very hard too find motivation these days lol. Hope your having fun in school as work!!! I think it might be bad capacitors In the amp. I get 12v to it from receiver just no sound. So I want to try and putting a aftermarket amp in.
Sorry to hear it didnt work out for you what dont you like about it? does it rattle? not powerful enough? your only ohter options are creating a custom mount in that area or just doing a sub in the trunk. Im sure a full sub in the trunk would sound better
You deadass almost had me at the gas tank idea💀💀

Watching for real this time. Dude crammed so much info in the first 3 minutes. That's amazing.
Hopefully it was useful!

always quality LS400 content 💯
Thank you!
you skipped the part on the process of removing the bracket, did you just cut the whole speaker apart?

"YASSSSssssssss!"🤗
How much better did this actually boost your bass though, like compared. I have a 98 ls400 and I feel the sub doesn’t have much punch.

The housing over the subwoofer shakes with high vibration. Did it do that for you

Hey where did you find the adapter kit?

Should work for an ls430 aswell yeah?

Id say if it just has a 8" place to mount a sub you can do this set up. You could even make a mount for it and trunk mount it 🤷♂️
Did you use a wiring harness adapter for the radio?
