I know people give BMW slack for making their M/M-lites AWD now but they've delivered so much extra performance as a result. The fact that the M5 runs sub-3s, the M3/4 is a low 11 second car and the M240i can do this with a tiny bit of tuning is INSANE
@@sab9913 100%, it's variable, and obviously the M cars have a RWD mode too. Most of the time xDrive cars run in mostly RWD until there's slip. Even my 435dx can slide itself around without DTC and DSC on

I had a e92 335i with an n 54 engine that I mounted with a catless downpipe, cone air intakes and a JB3. That was my dream car. This video brought me back. I'm going to have to get my cell phone m240i
Loved that mate! A genuine step forward from the already impressive previous M240i. Hats off to BMW for using the 4 series platform and the B58. They could have called it a day with the FWD biased M235i 2.0 Mini based car and gone straight up to the M2 but this is a great car that sits perfectly between them for someone wanting something more RWD traditional BMW than the 135 but less hardcore than a full on M.
If I were to buy an everyday hot hatch, this will definitely be on top of the list. Has absolutely everything going for it, luxury, refinement & speed.

I got one of these. Best motor I’ve owned. Compared to previous gen (I also owned) this thing is naughty. With the xdrive, the m diff and the pro pack P4s and wider track, it lays the power down. Can’t wait for the unlocked ecu so we can get big turbo big power in these things. Gonna be a movie

Straight line racing is for plebs who can't actually drive very well, because it requires no skill, you just accelerate in a straight line ffs, so the car with the highest power-to-weight ratio wins, all other things being equal.. A RWD car is not going to get the same traction from a standing start as an AWD car, derrrr, not rocket science son is it. Around a track, or a twisty B road with corners and undulations, an M2 destroys an M240i either RWD or xDrive.
Here in America the 0-60 is what counts, nobody is racing a 70k dollars car on hills and twisty roads lol unless you take to the track that’s it , I’m not denying the m2 is a beast but the lock of xdrive will turn many people away that’s why the m3 is just the car to get specially in cold climate weather.

Those middle class mothers can do 0-60 in under 4 seconds, but they can't drive. Any clown can launch one of those AWD cars, or an RS3, or A45S, with one hand on the wheel, because the car does everything for you, it requires no skill at all. Real drivers go out on narrow, twisty, undulating country roads and push their cars, and their driving skill to the limit. And they do it in 100k or even 200k cars, I see all sorts of very fast and expensive cars out, having fun. AWD cars are for people who can't drive very well, because they need the safety and a car which does everything for you. RWD might not be the fastest way, but it is the most fun, and requires the most skill, and that my friend is what real driving is all about.

Did you change tires? The optional cooling/wheel package comes with 245/255 but they’re slightly stretched on the rims and a more appropriate choice, in my book, would be 255/275. That should fit the supplied rims perfectly and add more contact patch.
With xdrive the f/r wheel diameter has to be within 1%. 275 and 255 isn’t. So, you’re limited to probably 265/255 max stock or if you step up to 40 on front you could probably got 285/35 rear and 245/40 front
I was thinking about selling my G80 M3 for a profit and buying one of these. I thought it would be smaller and have less weight but when you look at the stats, it only weights 24 lbs less IIRC. So that ended that.

Nah - RS3 stage 1 OTS will be similar or better times if you use 93/98 tune. The RS3 has the advantage though of being able to run straight E85 tunes, without injector or fuelling mods and attaining very low 3’s

Xdrive isnt even like traditional awd they still have a rwd power bias i think 60/40 split so you still get that rear end sliding absolutely mental

Changed my m140i for a f80 m3,took me a whole week to find the m3s sweet spot,nothing could get near the b58,so useable 👍

Why? My B9 S4 ran 3.29 0-60 on 92 octane pump gas
