He says he loves his family, and just wants to be around them, said he's had the means to buy a home for some time, but why, especially when he can freeload. He announced on the recent podcast he hosts with those same gamer buddies that he bought a house. He probably still won't move out. It's interesting to see a guy that has 5.7M viewer with a regular income stream (he was pretty big before the de-monitization stuff started to happen at YT already) is so frugal. If I didn't know any better I would think he was Dutch 🤣🤣🤣 I mean look at his gear. Nothing out of the ordinary, he uses a simple keyboard, while he could easily afford a of the art Nord Stage et al. It also shows that having the most expensive gear doesn't make you a great musician either, it just makes you the owner of a lot of expensive stuff. (Paraphrasing the old Nikon adage).
@@forkless TheDooo is frugal, no doubt. He earns over a million dollars a year. He and his gamer buddies interviewed Tim Henson of Polyphia last year. Henson was talking about the guitars manufacturers would give him. TheDooo, the biggest guitarist on UA-cam, told Henson he built a subscriber base of 1.5 million with his Squier, basically a beginner's guitar.
@FreeMpg in the most recent podcast #82 he mentioned that he bought a house and is finally moving out. He was planning on moving out just before the pandemic hit but he didn't so he just stayed with his family but now that the the pandemic is calming a bit and not as bad as it was initially he can move, travel, etc. (The podcast is called the "GOONS")
The thing that blows my mind about The Dooo, is that all is his gear is cheap beginner stuff (accept for a couple of very recent new guitars) He became famous with a cheap, stock Squier where the frets are completely worn down, through a Peavey Vypyr, a cheap beginner amp. And that piano looks like a toy. It's not even a full size piano and it's wabbling all over the place. It's crap gear that sounds terrible, yet he gets so many comments on his tone. The tone is all in the fingers. He doesn't sound good because of his gear, he sounds good despite his gear. He's found a way to make do (pun intended), with very little.
He was lightly touching the strings at certain parts of the fretboard ( the markers are a guide ). It makes a different sound and its called a harmonic. (it also works beyond the fretboard if you can guess where the dots would be. For example, on your electric you can still make a harmonic right on top of the neck pickup.) And yes SueSue, you can figure out how it works in a few minutes.
I think what sue was talking about was Harmonics - there are certain notes that will give that resonating sound by just laying your finger lightly on the string. There are places where it is really easy to get harmonics, literally anyone could do it, others where you need a deft touch, and others where it impossible - pinched harmonics is different and can be done pretty much anywhere on the fretboard. That would be the screeching sound often accompanied by a whammy bar dive bomb.

The sounds he makes with the hammer-ons and pull-offs of the frets are called pinch harmonics.
