Rod was an outstanding hard case personality. What you see is what you get. Great memories. I remember seeing Rod run at Howick once. 10k road run or half a marathon. Can’t quite recollect.
    Regards.

Rod is often overlooked as he was one of the most versatile runners in history! Olympic 1500 medal and NYC Marathon champ! #beastmode

Wasn't he also the first to run a sub-four mile and a sub-2:10 marathon?

Wow, what an interesting interview! Looking forward to watching some other videos of yours now. BTW, just found your book Healthy Intelligent training in the local library. A great book, very comprehensive. Watching the finish of Rod beating Geoff Smith at the NYC marathon was truly amazing. Keep up the good work.

Correct on both counts, Rick! Thanks for your comment!

Yes, John was a great brother to Rod, and Rod once said that he was as good a coach as any he ever met. John was a national champion in his own right over cross country and road, and had a 3:40 on the board for 1500m as well.

What happened to the finish of the story about the race against Keino and Vassala - Rod got sidetracked and never told us what happened !!

Funny that! We can get sidetracked, yes! I think we eventually get around to it in the next one where Rod talks more about how he prepared for races!
