anyone else have the issue were it doesnt go down flush with the shirt

I had the same issue. Just put some pieces of wood or some thick paper underneath the wooden surface that holds the shirt to adjust it properly.

My understanding is that there's supposed to be a gap between the shirt and the screen so that when you press down with the squeegee and ink it makes contact, but then lifts away from the shirt again.
