“The entire city was in a state of anarchy. With the whole communication network down, there was no way to differentiate friend from foe. It seemed all at once, the pent up anger and fury that was once kept bottled up behind a civilized facade, just exploded setting everything it came into contact with on fire. Gunshots and explosions rang out from every corner forcing us to keep to the shadows. Stray shots and pleas for help banged on the hull of our carrier as we sped through the wartorn streets. No matter where we went, chaos seemed to follow. I vividly remember while passing through the Bay Area that image of the boats burning while still at port. The radio was flooded with the innocent cries of those caught in the crossfire alongside the screams of opposing ideologies from fractured Erusean forces. I even managed to overhear a penal unit bragging about how they managed to bag their asshole of a colonel, claiming he was the one who was responsible behind the idea in the first place. When we managed to get to the city outskirts, I took one last glimpse at that chaotic inferno, praying for those poor souls trapped within before it disappeared from my sight over the horizon, lost in a haze of smoke and confusion.” - Excerpt from an interview with a osean soldier within Anchorhead Bay during the communication blackout
"While in the absolute chaos on the ground, I could hear the roaring jets of some aircraft, as they buzzed overhead, I could not tell if they were allied or not, fearing the worst, our artillery unit fired upon them with all the shells, only to realize that they were indeed allied. The Lighthouse war is not the norm, the gentlemanly conducts were thrown to the wind. We could not tell who was a friend and who was a foe. The only left that we could do was keep shooting. However, the pilot's three strikes is a hope to all of us. He leads the way. If I ever meet up with him, I'm buying him a beer." -Osean Ground forces officer (Artillery)
"As soon as the satellite network went down, all hell was let loose. Our satellite radios soon became useless. No orders came. The country soon fell apart. We can't know who's who among us Eruseans. Who's are friendlies, who are bad guys. My unit joined the conservative faction as we believed the Radicals are just bringing destruction by continuing the war. I couldn't even call my family due to the satellites being down. The only form of communication between us and Conservative command was terrestrial radios, but they were still unreliable due to so many users. We were sent in to Anchorhead Bay to secure power plants and ports from the Radicals. It was hell in there. Sounds of jets echoing through the streets, burning cars, gunfire, desperate chatter and arguments on the radio. We lost about 3 out of 10 T72B3s entering downtown due to urban ambushes. Our lead tank was killed after a friendly ATGM hit his tank, causing it to explode. On our way to our objective, the Oseans opened fire on us out of misidentification. We were able to tell them we were friendlies by me waving a white flag with the Erusean roundel on it. We were let through. We reached the objective after an hour of being bombarded by Radical artillery fire; losing two tanks in the process. I hope Lebarthe knows what he's doing. I just want to go home, and all this bloodshed must end. Until then, we have to do what we can to survive." - from the diary of Major Peter Entienne, T72B3 tank commander; 91st Tank Division; Erusean Conservative Army; October 1, 2019

It took me my third play through while listening to the radio to hear it. In an early part of the mission if you listen carefully to the radio you can hear an Osean AWACS called Argus give the order to kill Labarthe. I got chills down my spine hearing this, and since I already know the story, I knew there was nothing I could do.
Actually, there is a sequence you need to pull off with the radicals on the highway: kill them before Karl and Labarthe detour, then start IDing the aircraft. Tricky timing, but it can be pulled off.
I thought that was some Erusean Radical trying to trick Trigger and Count into killing Labarthe, or something. Just a WTH moment. Amazed Long Caster didn't cut in and tell us to ignore that.
In the city there's a billboard featuring and adv regarding one of the first version of the Data Swallow, the same communication system present in AC3:E Kinda fun the fact that you can see it while the whole net is down
Man... this mission gave me mixed feelings, a feeling of desperation, sadness, specially by the fact that friend was shooting friend, confusing and chaos, and again, the chaos stoke a city with civilians, knowing everything went down to hell, in a battlefield where you can’t tell who’s friend or foe, I was so worried and scared to shoot a friendly, as I didn’t want to take down one of my allies, definitely this music fits perfectly for the recently introduced situation.
This song really captures the feel that you're barely on an actual mission. It's more like you're just flying through the aftermath trying to make sense of things.
The role player in me always imagines a random civilian family in the ruins of what used to be their homes, while gunfire and tank shells explode all around and hundreds(!!!!) of jets roar and scream, accompanied by the occasional supersonic boom and explosions from hitting missiles. Then there's the debris going down over the city, causing substantial follow up damage and harm.... All while no information can circulate and everyone keeps feeling "on the right side", as the individual scope got simply wiped out. What an unbelievable mess... and what a terrifying vision that must be...
My first play through I just flew around the city, watching at the Eruseans shooting at each other, it actually looked sad at how even though Osean fighters entered the area, they still just kept going at each other. Just hearing the gunfire from the AAs and tanks really gives that vibe of despair for everyone down below
here's an idea. now hear me out. why don't you stay outside the city and WAIT for me to come in and destroy all the targets? THEN you can ride through. no? ok. sorry. just thought I'd..no? ok.
something that occurs to me: for the military, this is a frightening and confusing time in the war cause nobody has automatic IFF anymore. For the civilians on the ground? This is what it's like ALL THE TIME. You just have to hope the plane in the sky isn't going to blow you to pieces.
Still my favourite mission from the whole game. Recently had to test some controls, decided to try it on this map so I engaged in the challenge of completing the mission as realistically as possible (cockpit view because that's always how I do single player, ID nearly everything, C.A.S. so little speed abuse [kept speed subsonic, < 999 km/h, all the way up to the first set of identified targets], multirole missiles focus [MSL], 4AAM) + take out named ace + all on Ace difficulty + actually pull up on the side of the C1 convoy close to drone F-18 so Ionela can realistically get a look at the aircraft's tail (star emblem used, but i'm sure there's 3 lines somewhere on this aircraft). Used Su-57. Took 6% overall damage because I was sort of in a rush and would only complete it if I did everything above perfectly. Got an S Rank (cuz I never bothered to actually farm S ranks since i never cared and never had one on this one before) and restarted the mission because I wasn't close to the C1 at the end... lol... then I did it again properly. I think I'll grind out everything above properly and record it one day, including the briefing and aircraft selection. I'm the Trigger that gives Ionela the courage to destroy the chip with her grandfathers data. Me. Not you. ME!
I watched a friend of mine play this mission several times. I love how much action there is on the ground. It makes it actually look and feel like a war is going on.
Idk if it does, but it's called a Kessler cascade and it's a very scary concept because it would essentially imprison us on the planet for a few centuries

Also this is an exact potrayal of what would happen if everything went offline in the world. Anarchy everywhere, crimes, and crazys everywhere. I would very much rather be in the sky than on the grounf
I love the initial percussion in the beginning of the track, it sounds like cables snapping, a reference to the modes of communication being cut. Items like that, such as the orchestrated sound of a jet engine starting up in Archange really set this album up as a masterpiece.
"Your new orders are to dispose of Édouard Labarthe. The Osean officer with him is an imposter."

What ?!
@@dirtyfranku Yep, that's a line that plays in the mission (though often fails to), goes along with the ending and why an Osean fighter just shoots it down.

In fact AWACS Argus is Osean but was deceived by bad information by Erusean Hackers who spoofed the IFF.

Just played this mission and a few after it today. No spoilers, but man, this is probably the darkest game in the series.
I love how not only they innovated the gameplay but innovated the story in a way of what challenges the protagonist has to face. I.E. Penal Units
@Leonardo Hernandez Jimmy Dean Jimbo the "Emancipation" of Ace Combat 7. This track kicks ass
@Leonardo Hernandez Jimmy Dean Jimbo 😂😂😂
It feels innovative yet so familiar.
Also using free falling bombs has never been more fun than in this game^^
The confusion about why Labarthe is shot down, is actually kinda awesome. There's a line from an Erusean Awacs and another Osean Awacs that both claim Labarthe is a target for different reasons. Erusean Awacs says he's a traitor and the Osean says he's a fraud. There's so much chaos... Its like real war.
The music in this mission was really depressing.
No one knows why we're fighting, a civil war... Radicals and Conservatives, rogue military units claiming responsibility? Geez... This sent flashbacks to me during the Turkey Coup a few years ago. This mission is really somber if you think about it. I suggest to all to take their time completing the mission. You get a lot more dialogue that way.
At night when Minnesota gets really cold, snowy, and icy at once, I was terrified but also felt awesome playing this track while driving. Can't wait to tell my future son about it ;)

This was the theme song from when I kicked the wi-fi wires and turned it off, and then it didn't come back anymore
It took me my third play through while listening to the radio to hear it. In an early part of the mission if you listen carefully to the radio you can hear an Osean AWACS called Argus give the order to kill Labarthe. I got chills down my spine hearing this, and since I already know the story, I knew there was nothing I could do.
*“Those who can hear us are our allies.”*
As i type this, it has been an hour since my wifi died. I'll keep this on loop.
I'm guessing you were using mobile data
Correct.

I dont remember the name of the missions, but this definetly reminds me of the night raids
In the city there's a billboard featuring and adv regarding one of the first version of the Data Swallow, the same communication system present in AC3:E
Kinda fun the fact that you can see it while the whole net is down
Don’t know about you guys, but I hear the faint resemblance of Final Overture
Well
Dr. Shroeder Assistant is Yoko Martha from AC3:E
There's a lot of connection between both
This is track I chose to listen while seeing a lunar eclipse happening right now in my town. Perfect timing!
Man... this mission gave me mixed feelings, a feeling of desperation, sadness, specially by the fact that friend was shooting friend, confusing and chaos, and again, the chaos stoke a city with civilians, knowing everything went down to hell, in a battlefield where you can’t tell who’s friend or foe, I was so worried and scared to shoot a friendly, as I didn’t want to take down one of my allies, definitely this music fits perfectly for the recently introduced situation.
Man, I really loved this mission. Was so unique! Sad they didn't do more with the identification mechanic.
The atmosphere throughout this mission is fantastic, it feels frightening and awesome at the same time!
This song really captures the feel that you're barely on an actual mission. It's more like you're just flying through the aftermath trying to make sense of things.
Flying through the buildings to get a clear view/shot at ground targets was definitely the hardest part of this mission.
Makes me want to drive into the city at night and see the night life as I cruse on by.
All is well until you hear gunfire and roar of jets echoing through the streets
Civil warfare is part of your nightlife, eh?
Where do you live?
THEN you can ride through.
no?
ok. sorry. just thought I'd..no? ok.
I think this _is_ them waiting for you to come in, Labarthe's definitely being hunted down by opposing factions even before you arrive
Sounds like something made by Solar Fields from the original Mirror's Edge! 😃
Could you imagine running missions on the rooftops while this whole damn war is going on in the streets and skies?
Close enough
The strings at 4:00 give 50s Hollywood vibes. Definitely clashes with the atmospheric sound of the rest in an appropriately unnerving way.
3:43 i love the strings in that part
something that occurs to me: for the military, this is a frightening and confusing time in the war cause nobody has automatic IFF anymore. For the civilians on the ground? This is what it's like ALL THE TIME. You just have to hope the plane in the sky isn't going to blow you to pieces.
This whole mission is a vibe and a half.
The first few seconds instantly reminded me of Black Ops 2 's menu theme... and drones were a big part of that game too !
War is something I’ll never get used to, but tonight has been a total shock.
Me.
Not you.
ME!
When I saw Su35 AXEMAN entered the game. I thought it was Akula with a shark mouth. But nah 😥
Yeah, actually Axeman is reused Akula skin, without the shark mouth
And then I splashed him with Akula's head-on missile tactic. Ironic
Bru- Imagine it had a shark mouth but with a different design instead. It would be a total shock but its name would probably be SHARKMOUTH or smth
The most relaxing music in this game ever of all time
Ace Combat is one of the few games i would buy just for the soundtrack

I watched a friend of mine play this mission several times. I love how much action there is on the ground. It makes it actually look and feel like a war is going on.

I feel like this theme fits Dr. Schroeder very well.
This mission is a whole vibe
This whole mission reminds me of Emancipation from AC4
I really like the plot of orbital debris reaching a critical point and start a chain reaction. Have this kind of threat appear in other fictions?
Idk if it does, but it's called a Kessler cascade and it's a very scary concept because it would essentially imprison us on the planet for a few centuries
Gravity is an entire movie about astronauts trying to survive a Kessler cascade.
It's how the WIi U game "Devil's Third" begins. The anime "Planetes" is also about a clean up crew permanently stationed in space who work to prevent this kind of thing from happening by cleaning up garbage and debris in orbit.
@@zackerydurica2479 Kessler Syndrome, to be specific, and it's half the reason we have launch windows having to account for more than just the weather and orbital mechanics.
