- After a contentious five-hour hearing, and to the horror of London's music lovers, Islington Council officially closed famed club Fabric, after seventeen years of operation.
We took a look at the club as it seems set to stay - horribly empty.
This is too depressing to watch. can't believe they closed it. Corrupt council.
lol yeah so corrupt
It’s not closed
never heard of this place till recently. really sounds like they created something special with this place. music trendsends but, its unusual when a club/venue can do the same. i feel ya guys. things like this have happened here in detroit as well. silver lining is that rhe music isnt going away. they can't take that away from us. this generation takes a lot of hits but we are resourceful. things will swing up again. ✊✊✊
It's the correct decision, I was OUTRAGED at seeing hundreds of patrons with red eyes screaming 'help me, help me', I tried to comfort them but all they did was to look blankly into space. I spent the entire night crying into Mr Pink the bouncers warm bosom as I just couldn't understand what I was seeing.
WE ARE BACK OPEN !!!!!
I cried.. not even lying going to fabric was in my wishlist in nightclubs.. maybe in the top 1.. now I'll never do it
Same here bro :'(. This feels like some sort of miscarriage
its reoponed
Done it yet ? :)
had many good times in those now-vacant rooms, this is a bit crushing
I'm literally sitting in tears here with totally crushed heart. That is the only place in the world I could be myself. I could meet people filled with love and feel like one family. What can we do to change the decision :( donation? Pleeeease Fabric cant be closed :( its very unique place form me for Us. Fabric showed me whats the real music and to respect each other till then I was drunken zombie waiting for my favourite shitty song from radio in all these shitty clubs with show off people :(
You don't need Fabric Anton my lovely, you need to get out in the open air a bit more.. Get your nose out of your mobile device, find a park, breathe in the fresh air and say hello to someone....
mrbillhicks
Well I was going there every second month so I had plenty time for what your wrote and lots more even that you know fuck all about my life and went straight to judgement on my feelings. You sound to me that you either work for pigs or Islington council. With that kind of nature I assume that people around you doesn't like you and you don't know about that as well:D Also With that kind of shooting judgements my lovely why would you go to Fabric? Would you try to pass your happy life opinions with people in the club and wait for applause and understanding? Get a boyfriend/girlfriend and give them your advice. But I give you one as well , get to know him/her first .
Anton Binder bet your pleased it's back open 😄
Sort yourself out you melt.
Clubs are always better without the people in them; means I can finally hear he music properly.
this became the best club for music in London after bagleys warehouse closed in the 90s. last of the dying breed. depressing times
RIP. Much love from Perú
Sad sad times. Does this mean the Fabriclive mix CD collection has come to an end also...?
Left a gaping hole in London nightlife. I hope one day it will be back since I never had the chance to go
Losing Space and Fabric in the same year....ouch.
Too beautiful for London. RIP
Never had a chance to visit Fabric, but I can instantly point it out from the unique layout from watching many dnbtv (dnb arena) web videos from 2002-2008. Feel the pain alongside so many fellow fans of dnb. Seems like times are changing and nothing we can do to stop it.
Makes me so sad, Will miss going to Fabric :(
that brick wall was my favourite spot around 2am everytime i go there 😂 such great times
Why’d they leave the lights on?
Should be closed permanently. Dodgy management, corrupt bouncers and a weird clientelle.
Silent Disco?
looks very interesting !!!
my god this is so sad.
this is so sad to see
its a dark day for london music/clubbing
electrowerkz is better, electrowerkz were events back in the day, fabric is just a cheesie club for students, electrowerkz events dropped when slimelight brought the place
it's fine for me. been there done that. rip
So depressing! All those lovely Funkion-Ones and the rest. My my crazy.
FYI room 2 wasnt funktion one. Think it was Martin audio but they were upgrading it to new pioneer.
Cheers. Yes remember the item about the Pioneer sys plans
I hear it's going to be a Morrisons.
Excellent decision by the council. In fact places like Fabric stimulate drug usage, insanity and madness
Elaborate, please.
I hate to break it to you, but a hollow inanimate structure cannot "stimulate" drug usage, let alone insanity and madness. I'm a big fan of Lovecraftian horror too, but at some point you have to learn to separate fact from fiction.
That is an excellent reply Mike Hawk
People are gonna do drugs anyways mate..
Look at what prohibition has done to the drug world- it only made it worse.
Shutting down night clubs isn't going to end the fact that people are overdosing on illegal drugs.
People are still gonna rave anyways, they're just going to go to more underground raves and probably do more drugs than before. They'll also be much less safe..
Would you like to expand your 'hollow inanimate structure' theory to schools of learning, universities and public schools which have produced most of our ruling classes for centuries.. Seems to me that these hollow structures have a lot to answer to... How about the inanimate structures where people's children are taken to after they consume the drugs supplied to them at Fabrics hollow structure ??? I hate to break it to you Mike but institutions such as Fabric not only stimulate drug usage they actively encourage it....
Extremamente lamentável e triste.
Oh dear, how sad, what a pity.... one more place kids can't go to and take the drugs they buy from the scum that prey on them.... How many death become too many ?
lets ban pubs and cars because of a tiny minority of idiots, alcohol and vehicle deaths dwarf anything from pills.
you serious? its more than a pity mate, its tragic. as if closing Britain's best nightclub will stop people using drugs. the problem isn't the nightclub. people will just go somewhere else now. the corruption keeping drugs illegal makes them dangerous. the solution is change the laws, have them regulated and controlled by licensed responsible dispensaries run by experienced knowledgeable people who can offer advice and help. but no .. lets just close a world famous dance music institution and the best nightclub this country has ever seen...(oh and don't forget continuing unnecissary deaths) dickhead
So ignorant
That comment with your name + profile picture are a complete contradiction I hope you realise.
Ignorance is bliss !!!
Bagley's was my favorite club. I have been to Fabric on a Saturday but i found the music a bit on the dark repetitive side not very uplifting
