    Taking singing lessons now every Friday. Had my first lesson last week. I've always looked up to singers like Bing Crosby, Julie Andrews, Cash and others. I've just stumbled upon my voice, thanks to God Almighty. He put the passion in me to get into music.. So i'm learning Singing, Violin, Piano and Guitar. I now practice 5-6 hours a day. I love it!

    Edward L Johnson did a very good job throughout his life and is a very good singer and communicator in my opinion; may he rest in peace and many best wishes to him and his family. Sorry to hear he passed on.

    I spent a year practicing phrasing, then another year practicing breathing, and then a third year I spent on full throated singing from the diaphragm. This year for the last six weeks (I began this journey the first week of August) I've been singing as low as I can and holding notes a while. I sing as high as I can and hold notes, but I also sing a word from lowest to highest. I asked around and Bel Cantoseems to be what I was looking for.

    I had a good voice that could have been great if I had this when I was young now my voice is ruined because of bad technique and I am now too old. If you are young jump on this whilst you have the opportunity to.

    This video presentation and the eight lessons was produced and paid for by me, Peter Tassi. This person received the package I would sell, took the material and put it on the internet. When I got in touch with him I told him that his actions were forgiven but he cannot make money off my work and financing of this project. It takes some kind of person to do this. I will now consider next steps

    Yes, technique and positive thinking. But, you also need talent. And then talent comes in different sizes. Some are having enough talent to be soloists, others have enough talent to be pro choir singers
    So, let’s not forget talent

    I think 2 octaves is not very much. I have more than 3 octaves and I am not even trained, I am self taught!

    I changed 2 teachers the last 4 weeks who claim to know bel canto, because I felt serious strain at my voice after the lesson....is this normal?

    • @anonymoushippopotamus8731
      @anonymoushippopotamus8731 10 років тому +3

      its normal if you dont sing correctly. singing should NEVER feel bad. should NEVER make you strain. If you are straining, it means youre singing with your imagination and not with your voice. Stop dreaming and get real.

    • @princesscharis
      @princesscharis 10 років тому +6

      AnonymousHippopotamus "singing with your imagination and not with your voice. Stop dreaming and get real" seriously? who the hell are you? it was the teacher's fault with stupid exercises that strained my voice and when they try to place it at a different way to loose my natural dark low chest notes, just because I can hit F above high C and they label me Soprano, and God it is not possible for a soprano to have rich low chest notes AND strong high notes....HOW STUPID!, I don't have any strain when I sing on my own and I place my voice where its suppose to be. The problem with teachers today is that they learn various "tricks" they think will work with all students, they forgot that the simple exercises from Vaccai, Marchesi etc.. are the best to develop the voice and the teacher should be able to listen where is the "problem" if any. That's why you hear most singers today singing light or yelling and not singing. Who sings today real bel canto? No opera singer or pop singer or rock singer is good out there, just horrible weak voices... Next time before your comment use your brain.

      charisaob Hey, Myles Kennedy uses Bel Canto singing technique, though he's the only one I found so far. :P though he's using it in hard rock, not opera singing. If you know for anyone else, using this technique nowdays, please, let me know. :D I'm dying to find any tips about Bel Canto, because it seems to be so rare and nobody knows anything about it. :c

    Can you get vocal nodes by trying to achieve this technique?

    • @quennie123321
      @quennie123321 8 років тому +8

      +skittlz101T the bel canto technique is a very natural technique that strengthens the voice with time. Most singers who have mastered the technique are still able to perform without any weirdness in the voice for decades. So if you or anyone is approaching the bel canto technique correctly, there shouldn't be any discomfort. That said many opera singers do not begin performing until their late 20's because that is how much studying it takes to achieve correct technique.
      I find that the best way to know if you are doing something correctly is to think that it's much more cerebral than it is physical. Learning to sing goes against many common daily habits as well as what would be assumed is happening to produce a sound and is weird for those reasons, but should otherwise feel easy on the body. The body should never feel like it's straining to reach a certain sound. It should feel effortless.

      You most certainly don't get nodules through singing with a bel canto technique - you get those by shouting with no vocal protection - that is not how do you become a classically trained singer!!! Edward Johnson was not pop singing with a high larynx, having a microphone and a wide mouth with the head back! Edward was a very highly respected American teacher in his day. Sadly he died some years ago but we have these videos in his memory. How you can say you get nodules, I really don't know. This has served me and millions of others in the world for over forty years and all my own four teachers who are still alive and all of us had fine careers as singers and now teaching but can still sing if we wanted at our age. This is classical singing technique to create your voice with no microphone and nothing to do with shouting!

    • @keyliannys
      @keyliannys Рік тому +1

      if it is thin then that could mean you (with enough practice in this technique) could achieve very fast runs, im talking coloratura, look It up if you don't know. So don't give up!!!!!!
