Yep! It’s got down very specific uses like pushing a product but I feel that for creators it’s not the most optimal and could actually do the opposite.
my channel is business based, but the thing is I only want to promote to people who are geographically nearby. do you know if that's possible with the promotions tool?
I once did a promotion that I think really hurt my channel, and I will never do it again. When you gain organic subscribers, sometimes you can see who they are if their profile allows it, but with the promotion, there were zero subscribers that were visible. I wouldn't be surprised if they were mostly bots even. It also destroyed my video, with watch time dropping to mere seconds. Additionally, I lost all these promotion subscribers within a year or so after the promotion: for every new subscriber I gained I was miraculously losing one or two. This never happened before or since then. So, never again. If you post nice, valuable content, people will eventually follow and value you. This creates a strong bond, as they join you on your journey and watch your channel grow. There are no shortcuts here if you want meaningful relationships.
I totally agree with you. Recently I used you tube promotion to grow my channel. After the promotion ended, I barely see any change in views and impressions on my videos. It is in still state. It did not effected the videos I promoted but all my videos on channel that were doing good. The worst thing is no one from Google ads to talk and discuss to understand and fix the issue.

It really depends on so many factors. It is what it is. If you watch the whole video, I talk about a much better way to test and spend money to watch time and get views.
Thanks, Brian. Appreciate ya. That promotion went down pretty much the way I figured it would. Always better to just hone the skills, do the things, and learn how to grow and get views organically. I do think the promotions might be a good idea if you are already established, get a lot of views, but have some sort of sponsored video or something where you are promoting something special as well, and you just want to get the word out as much as possible on it and don't mind spending a little to get it to pop just a little better.

If UA-cam’s goal is to keep people on the platform and find content they will watch this will likely hurt them as content that isn’t good will now be elevated. It won’t last unless big creators will simultaneously lose the push they get based on their size. It doesn’t make sense for UA-cam unless they put in major rules about what can be promoted, or they’re showing your video to Bots and the subs are not real

Then you can recoup the money you spent plus earn more each month from then via the adsense income. I was going to try one video a week for $5. The targeting is interesting, for example, I'm bilingual and I want to make more videos in French (it's my mother tongue. I do subtitle in English.) but 93% of my audience is English speaking. (though I wonder if they calculate Canada as 100% anglo... I'm from Québec and we account for 25% of Canada's population - mostly French-speaking. So maybe I do have more francophone viewers than I thought...) Targeting a French language video to Canada and France will allow me to find new French speaking viewers. I'm going to try it!

I didn’t like that either the fact that they just keep billing you. And even worse now I get these damn annoying pop-ups and UA-cam Studio telling me to fix my ads.
I've done one campaign for the purpose of introducing a new tool that I was promoting. In addition to greater than average views and subs, I was successful in getting more people to make purchases than other tools I've promoted. Now, was it the tool, the promotion, or my improved skills? I wasn't displeased with the results but it's very clear to me that promotions are not for everyone. They serve a purpose but must be well planned and not used just to gain subs.
can you narrow down the location for the promotions campaign? my channel is very niche, as I am a pet sitter and dog walker. I only want to focus on viewers in my state. if possible, I want to narrow down to my region and my metroplex area. It doesn't really make sense for me to promote my services to people who are not geographically close to me. I just want to focus on local people in Texas.
You can spend five bucks a day three bucks a day there’s no certain amount of money you need to spend. Make sure you watch the whole video if you’re thinking of spending.
My advice, don't do it. Because it shows "ad" at the bottom of the video its perceived negatively by the audience. Bunch of BS dont give money to YT they got plenty and dont need yours.

Sometimes that can be hard to believe when you put real effort into a video and it just won't take off, but would promoting that video really change anything substantial? If there is a demand for a piece of content it will likely find viewers, even if it takes a while. If not, you might as well cash in on the 49 or so views (probably 39 cents or so) and buy yourself a candy. Next one will hopefully be better, without giving all your earnings + back to youTube.
It is not worth it. Promotions screw the algorithm. These subs, the promotion grabbed, won't return to your videos. It ia better to invest in a SEO for your website

You could always test it out. It’s really hard to say how is going to respond to something like that.
Growing a audience is easy. Using promotions. Holding on to new viewer's is the hard part.😊 Keep improving your skills and move forward. 🗡️👍

Why does nobody talk about the "automatic payments" feature? This is the most concerning featuring if you want to run an ad for just 13 days...

Yes, but you would want to set that up through Google ad words which gives you more control but is also a bit more complex.

UA-cam is pretty challenging. I think it’s just best to focus on the fundamentals. It’s boring, but it kind of works when he kind of work it.
