Ohh, those Etchr metallics look STUNNING. How earthy! They really are beautiful, and I can see why you enjoy adding gold to all your florals, it looks so lush and luxurious.
Being a part of your ko-fi is what’s been inspiring me lately 😊. Being around like minded people and chatting with them has been amazing. So thank you for having it!
Thank you for mentioning a low pressure sketchbook. I recently started using one and it is so helpful with exploring different things without feeling bound to a good piece of art. My favorite thing I have tried is taking screenshots of an old tv show and drawing quick sketches, working on proportions, likeness, and drawing with a brush pen.
You are so welcome Jess! I'd be lying if I said I haven't done the same many a times :) Good to remind ourselves from time to time! I hope that you have a wonderful, enjoyable time creating xx
I recently discovered Sandi Hester also…feel the same way you do about her - so different but totally drawn to and inspired by her attitude and watching her create.
You and your wonderful UA-cam community inspire me and uplift me more than anything. I find myself falling into the comparison trap on Instagram and many other UA-camrs when I get stuck in that scroll mode. But you, and interacting with you and your community (especially during live sessions) inspire me to just create and enjoy it, to enjoy the whole process. Happy to hear you've moved over to the couch to create - that is my absolute favorite place to get lost in my sketchbook with any and all art supplies. I learned much and was greatly inspired by your gouache landscape course. I appreciate you and everything you do and everything you put into your videos for us. Love you!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️✝️🌹✝️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have to say, even before finishing this video, that the first part, about not being perfectionistic, etc. was/is so valuable to me. It's all been said before, but your way of saying it got through to me as no one else's has. Many, many thanks!!
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words Margaret! I am so glad that they got through, it is certainly a process, but I hope the reminder continues to serve you well x
Welcome back! I hope you had a lovely holiday. I missed out on the fast book when it came back in stock! Excited to see all you’ll create with the wonderful source of inspiration x
PREACH PREACH PREACH!!!! You are in my head! Thank you for your honesty as it lets me know I’m not alone. I’m only a year into my art experience and in that year I grew so much in terms of how I view my work. It took the entire year to break away from comparing and hoarding art supplies bc I didn’t think I was “good enough yet” to use them. The very thing that was supposed to make me happy and relaxed was becoming sobbing sessions of self loathing. So I took a break from social media and I stopped posting. I let go of the idea that I had to post my work daily. I’m an old lady so I can go back to the days when there was no internet. I allowed myself to pretend that I am in the 80’s and no one will see my art. It worked. I don’t feel so much pressure to be perfect anymore.
Wow, you were describing exactly what I was going through just yesterday when I tried two different paintings that went wrong and I hated them and myself. I ignored them today but just before going to sleep I got an idea for each one using some art supplies I stashed and forgot. Ok, so that will make them mixed media and not pure watercolor - so arrest me watercolor police. It’s freeing and I’ll see what they turn out like. By the way I’m 76 and battle my Internet/phone addiction too often! Who knew - at our age!
Thank you so much for sharing Leelee! That is such a powerful story and I’m so glad that stepping away has helped you. Thank you for sharing and encouraging us 💛
I’m so sorry you struggled too but I’m hoping that things are better now! Social media has its perks but like everything, has drawbacks too 💛 thank you for sharing and i hope you continue to enjoy the liberating feeling of creating art x
i love seeing you trip vlogs, its great to see places i will never see through the eyes of another artist 😀Sandi is great, even if her art is not a person's style, you have to love how passionate she is about art🥰
I have a small custom A gallo palette that I have just been loving! Im enjoying working on individual sheets of paper rather than sketchbooks for the same reasons you mentioned
Great video! Watching this has certainly inspired me to try out new things too. Your landscapes and fruit series are making me itch to finally give gouache a go.😄 I also love your section about mindset. That is exactly what I've been trying to do as well and it's so encouraging to see an artist like you do the same. Thank you for sharing it.💛
I'm so glad! Thank you so much for watching and your kind comment! I’m glad you found it inspiring and I hope that you have a wonderful time creating art xx
Yes, its all changing for me and ramping up to be connected through a community of artists on Ko-fi/Patreon and participating in group paint-alongs! My Winsor and Newton Designer gouache is inspiring to me lately as well as being surrounded all the beautiful watercolors from Roman Szmal, Daniel Smith, MaimeriBlu, A Gallo and most recent handmade watercolors from Della Magna and Aarkar Creations! What a lovely surprise to see all our work at the end of the video! thank you!
I’m so amazed by your art! And so happy you’re feeling inspired by gouache and all your stunning watercolours 😂😍 your Ko-Fi updates are always a highlight 😂
I bought a bunch of gouache supplies so naturally I am now inspired to use watercolor, because even though I am struggling with it, it's less intimidating than gouache, which I have never used. 😅 That said, another thing that has been inspiring me is some advice to try painting and drawing the same object over and over in positions and scenes, and that has been really comforting. I chose a baby rhinoceros, and it's part of my habit tracker to make sure I at least draw one every day.
Awww thank you for watching and sharing! I can completely relate lol my supply of choice changes so frequently it’s crazy 😂😂😂 a baby rhino sounds so adorable! Thank you for sharing your lovely idea - I’ve been finding it relaxing to paint or draw the same flowers over and over x x
lovely and inspiring video! i was dying at the b-roll of you looking at your phone and then staring off into space 😆lately i've been inspired by swatch videos especially for granulating earthy watercolors
😂😂😂😂 thank you Gouachelog 😂😂 I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t happen almost every day lol but I’m getting better ❤️ thanks for sharing! I love swatching videos too x
I love to enjoy the process of painting more than the result, but if the result turned out pretty that's a nice bonus 😅 I'm not into vlogs but yours and sandi's are definitely an exception 🥰🥰🥰 Can't wait to joing your kofi again when I'm able to 💖
Thank you so much for watching and your kind comments ! 😊 you always bring a smile to my face! I can’t wait for you to join us again too 😁 but whenever works for you 💛 I’m glad we still have UA-cam. What have you been painting / creating lately? Xx
@@SketchesnScrubs yeah my life have been kind of hectic lately 😅 I just finished a watercolor sketchbook in one week, with only loose painting to help me lossen up on my painting process 💪🏼. But now I'm burned out on watercolors and will go back to alcohol markers for a while 😂
I agree wholeheartedly with your recommendations for fellow artists who inspire. Some wonderful artists I have discovered recently and am devoted to watching are: 1)Gaynor Pattle-- she's lovely and always inspiring mixed and multiple media-acrylic, printmaking, collage, just wonderful and experimental mostly semi abstract representational- landscapes, floral, still life. 2)Monkey Mintaka ( April)-- great livestreams and just so inspiring as illustrator and artist. She transforms references to her style seemingly effortlessly. Very fun person too. 3). The Lazy Redhead- personality plus!!! Multiple and media. Fun fun fun!!! 4) Orla Stevens- new discovery. She's great. Dedicated multi disciplinary artist. Lots of outdoor Scotland adventure art. Just completed a. Snorkeling cold water artist residency. She's great 5). Sophie McPike - great color exploration. Fun paint alongs etc.
Thank you so much for your amazing list!! I only know two of the artists - Sophie and The LazyRedhead and completely agree with your descriptions 😂 excited to discover the new artists ❤️
I love how vibrant and colorful your art is! Those Pitt pens seem very interesting. I am not a fan of the copics or ecoline because of the types of ink so I’m definitely intrigued by the India ink! I think this might be the week I finally break down and order some Roman Szmal
😂😂😂 I’m impressed you resisted Roman Szmal this long 😂 if you do get them, don’t forget to use my discount code for an extra 10% off Thank you so much! I’m flattered ❤️ I’ve had a lot of fun exploring colour this summer. And I really enjoyed the Pitt pens because I can layer on top of them. I can’t blend them as well as alcohol / water based markers but they work well for how I use them xx
I so appreciate your videos! Your warm personality and smile make my day. I also love Sandi Hester, her videos are so cozy! Other favorites are Natasha Newton, Laura Horn, Lily Moon, and for art supply enabling I love Chromaphile (she's new, I highly recommend!).
