- How to drift launch your kite. Knowing how to drift launch your kite can be very useful and further your skills as a kiteboarder. The Drift launch or also known as a form of self-launch allows you to launch your kite by yourself if you don't have anyone around to assist you. It also allows you to launch a kite in situations where you might not be able to on land due to dangerous obstacles or other reasons. This method can also be applied to launching your kite off a boat. This video tutorial was filmed at Matheson Hammock Park, Adventure Sports Miami.

i can say that this was best drift launch i watched on the YT, great work!
Thanks!
Nice that you’ve explained where line tangles may be caused … spent quite a while looking for this advice and now I’ve found it ! Gonna go try right now …
i have done this once or twice in low winds but never thought of connecting the leash to the kite, very nice and smart trick
Drift launched this way many times. This video explains it very close to how I've done it. The only difference is I hold onto either the far right or left line then controlled release until about half the line is out. Then I let go and grab my bar and ready to pull safety if something happens.
Very thankful. Great video! 🎉
Great demonstration 🙌
great vid, short, to the point and you identify the things we might mess up. Only thing I'd suggest is try to reconnect the safety leash before pushing the kite away.
Thank you, was looking for this Tutorial as i failed Multiple times, all of which ended up with messed up lines
I‘ll try once again your method
Excellent video!!!! 👍
I agree. Very clear instructions
Thanks!
very helpful. thank you
Launched this way for years… the only issue is the lines getting crossed quite often
The big problem is weeds in the lines can cause a line snag. Larry
If you put the bar on your chicken loop and then wrap them you won’t tangle
I was surprised when I saw my home spot lmao
This is asking for a disaster.
There is so much opportunity for the lines to get messed up. And if they can, they eventually will.
