Your story about the store not knowing the upkeep required for rhodium plated white gold is wild. So strange that they were so clueless! Although it’s pretty, that’s one of the reasons I don’t buy much white gold. One of the main reasons I like fine jewelry is bc it’s solid gold or silver so it doesn’t require a lot of upkeep and you can basically have it forever. Maybe I’m lazy but having a piece that you have to replate is the antithesis of that. That’s why yellow gold reigns supreme. LOL! It looks good pretty much universally across skin tones and it’s low maintenance! 😂
I agree 100%! I love the color of 18k yellow and rose gold so I am almost never tempted to go through the trouble of paying 5000+ for rhodium plated white gold. I don’t love the patina of platinum either so it’s hard, because the rhodium plating looks so beautiful while it’s still shiny and new 🥹
Hello, So do you only wear 24 carat gold then? Because anything else is alloyed with other metals. My white 18ct gold wedding ring was rhodium platted but after 13+ still looks great although we were informed by the retailer we could have it re-platted if the yellow gold color comes through. I don’t find this necessary and enjoy the warning effect of the gold color over time. I think that now white gold is not sold as Rhodium platted and the alloys used with the gold provide the white color. No special treatments needed other than normal care for any gold jewelry.
Hi! :) No, all my jewelry is 18k other than the Idyl earrings which I showed in my video. I have no issues with alloyed gold, as you know 18k gold is 750/1000 parts gold. What I meant was that I dislike when the rhodium plating on white gold wears off and shows the color of the white gold unevenly underneath the plating. It's usually not noticeable but I am pretty neurotic with jewelry - I do a deep clean / polish a few times a month - so I dislike the fact that with rhodium plated white gold I can't polish it as I would my other gold jewelry. White gold has different alloys to rose and yellow gold, yes you're right, and it makes it a whiter, paler color than other golds. But no matter what alloys are used for the 250 parts of a 1000, it cannot be as white as when it is rhodium plated . A more buttery white can be achieved with the modern alloys but compared directly to platinum (specifically palladium or ruthenium alloy PLT950) and the pure white of Rhodium it is really easily distinguishable. I think there was some misunderstanding in my original comment response; it's not about the metal alloys of the gold but the fact that most legacy & modern jewelry houses still Rhodium plate their white gold to make it a more "pure" white color.@@LD-io9zv
Love the *gtdupe* Prada fanny pack. Great video as always. Looking forward to your videos! I really can’t wait to watch this vlog, you are the best, have a great weekend!
The Stars and Hearts bracelet from Tiffany’s is AMAZING!!!! I agree the juvenile design in 18k gold makes it so special and unexpected! So glad you got it at such a great price 🤎✨
I’m very into jewelry and I’ve seen a lot of these jewelry collections here on UA-cam but yours is the most prettiest one I’ve seen. Very beautiful collection
Wow that is actually an amazing compliment 🥹 thank you! I always watch other people’s jewelry collection videos and thought they had a lot nicer things than me haha
Wow you're soooo pretty and classic, the jewellery you have fits you perfectly!!! Love they all influenced by your Japanese roots aswell !!! Great video, was funny when you said your dogs gifted you those jewellery pieces lol
Such a chic collection! Do you mind me asking how many carats your engagement ring is? I’m trying to get a feel for what different sizes look like on the hand..
Thank you! This is 1.10 carats on a size US 4.75 or UK J :) I think its the perfect size; I think it might be considered small in the United States but definitely closer to large for Europe.
@@rui_etc That's so helpful, thank you! Do you think it's worth buying an engagement ring from a name brand like Tiffany's or Cartier? Or are you just paying for the brand recognition?
I love to buy from the legacy brands as you can tell but I've been having a lot of fun customizing the little things that I always wanted to change about certain rings and jewelries since I have started designing jewelry - for example, the diamond solitaire that I showed in the video is in a very similar setting to the Tiffany setting but I adjusted the prongs to be "mini claw prongs" rather than the tab prongs that T&Co. uses, because I thought it looked more elegant with a taper. I also decreased the size of the donut (the rounded bit at the bottom of the diamond setting) in order to allow wedding bands to sit more flush to the ring. I think it depends entirely on what you prefer - to be able to customize little details so they're exactly what you love, or to buy from a historic legacy house that is renowned & coveted by the general public :)@@mindyc.1941
You have so much jewellery that you don’t even remember about some pieces, lol. Still love your Dior bag in the background, looks stunning! Nice jewellery collection, all of it!
Absolutely love this video! I’m a fine jewelry stan so I love coming across jewelry collection videos. ❤ also, do,you know if the Tiffany bracelet is vintage? Or just recent preloved? Never seen that bracelet before. Such a great deal!
It’s definitely from the early 2000s as far as I can tell! I haven’t come across the exact year but I’m planning to start searching through old Tiffany archive catalogues online 😌 this is so fun to me! Haha
Oh I’m sorry I didn’t realize I missed a few! It’s the DBTY chain ring resized to a 2.75 to fit my pinky 😌 I am not sure about the carat size but I think it must be a little less than 0.1 carat!
Love love love your collection! Curious what ct size is your engagement ring and your ring size? i am also a bit neurotic about my jewelry and think my tiffany ring is ever so slightly too big. Love the proportion on yours.
I am so anal about polishing it 🫣 I take it off a few times a month to switch out my jewelry and I’ll take a gold polishing cloth and some heavy elbow grease to polish it. It’s not really recommended to constantly unscrew it and screw it again but I cannot resist cleaning my jewelry at least once a week 😅
Hi. Did you have any issues with the Tiffany’s bean earrings ??? I bought the mini one in yellow gold and the part that goes into the ear started tarnishing within less than a month of wear. Never worn to shower never got wet ( I take care of all my jewelry pieces). Did you have the same issue? Thanks !
Hi! Yes I have noticed it! But no worries it is easily removed with a light rub with a jewellers polishing cloth! You can find similar cloths on Amazon if you search for “gold polishing cloth”. I think it happens due to the interaction of the gold + alloys that Tiffany uses with the piercing hole which is understandably an easy body part to get a bit funky 😂 it came off really easily for me with the cloth and it only happened once when I didn’t remove my bean stud for a few weeks
Hello, do you swim in pools or beaches with your Cartier love bracelet or VCA hammered rose gold bracelet? If you do, how has your bracelet held up so far? Just wanted to know how durable the bracelet is as I know that exposure to chlorine is quite harmful for jewelry.
I do not go to pools very often, maybe 1-2 times a year and for less than 20 minutes each. I haven't noticed any damage from the chlorine or other chemicals. :)
It depends on the length of the bracelet, metal (10-18k or platinum) and the diamond size you’d like! Feel free to email me or reach out to my instagram @studioljeva with your specs and I can give you an exact price 🥰
i found a jesus face unoaerre pendant and the details are so crisp and beautiful i really wanted to buy it but im not religious at all and i dont want to offend anyone if i wore it being a non believer 😭
I don’t see higher end jewelleries such as, Graff , Harry Winston and Moussaieff here. I ditch all of well known brand jewellery and wear more exclusive brands that people have to keep asking who is that I am wearing. Otherwise, people in the circle would only knows.
You have absolutely the most beautiful jewelry collection Rui 😍♥️. Your custom design pieces are especially exquisite. P/s: would love to follow u on IG but cannot find your username
