Great video, my Jeep did the same thing, but it never threw a code. Pulled the transmission to replace clutch and rebuild trans and found both upstream cars clogged with crystals from coolent…. Also was easy to see from back of motor an external oil/coolent leak as well as a slow leak from the front. I bought the same intake gasket and I’ll be doing that here soon before I get the trans back in hah
Thank you! Just got an 07 and found out it didn't have coolant.... stupid stupid me. So it's either this or the head. Hope it's this. I filled the coolant and will drive through the weekend to see what happens. Hot air was working so that's a pluss.
Great video. You made it look easy. I’m gonna have to pay $250 to get this done. Paying my buddy but still, not an expense I wanted to get after. Doing fuel injectors at the same time.
Got a bad oil leak on rear of engine high either head or upper manifold ? no codes, a bit of loss of power, sounds like a bit of an muffled deep bass sound maybe exhaust manifold also ? Any clues ? Could this upper be the problem
Donnie, got same issue on Cyl 6 code and with my bore scope and a q-tip I can prove coolant in the cylinder. Based on your experience with the head gasket, would you have still taken the same troubleshooting route of dealing with the intake gasket first? We haven’t done a pressure test yet on the coolant system and I can think of no way to Differentiate if the issue is the intake or the head, can you?
I would do the intake gasket first again. It’s cheap, and not that difficult to replace. It if works - Awesome . If not just get ready to do the head gasket.
My 07 jeep has a rough idle and started to shut off. I was told this was the issue and dude is trying to charge me 1200. Could this oil cause a rough idle from My oil leaking as well?
Buy and use new bolts when installing the upper intake if doing 105 inch lbs ❤ 85 inch lbs if using old ones 😂 gonna hear and feel a nice pop if you don't.
Excellent DIY video, no extraneous music and direct to the point. I need to do on my 2010 Wrangler JK

I thought you got rid of the Jeep 😂 glad to see you still got
Still running strong 💪. My daughter will probably get it if I can keep it going 5 more years 🤞
@@Donnythelatemodeltech that’s my plan my 07 JK still runs smooth as a top 👊🏻
Would the bad gasket produce a burning smell? It always smells like somethings burning when the engine gets up to operating temp
Did you replace yours? Did the smell go away?
Good stuff my guy
Thanks Brother! Your the man when it comes to Dodge chysler jeep Ram!
@@Donnythelatemodeltech Yea we hardly see these with the 3.8L engine at dealer anymore. But you nailed it. Brought back memories..lol
How long did the job take over all? As far as actually pulling it apart and buttoning it back up?
Without a camera , I can do this job in 45 minutes
Thanks alot for all the info man
You bet!
What was the red tool you used when you were reinstalling?
Snap on power ratchet - they come in a few sizes - #1 recommended! Can use as mechanical Rachel as well

Cool video but why pressured to 13 psi when the radiator cap for that wrangler is 18 psi?
Because you only need 13 psi to find a leak. 18 is too much, hence why the cap blows open at 18psi
I had to replace a fuel injector years ago so ive done half of this job. How long did it take you?

Those leak down bell housing and can fool ya into thinking it just oil leak from other gaskets . Till you see coolant mixed in puddle 😕
Where can I get the upper intake gaskets?
would a failing intake gasket cause coolant to leak out the back of the motor and drip down onto transmission and what not?
Was that the case for you? Because Mike’s doing that right noe

How did you clean the manifold without getting any debris in the engine
Only thing I can thing of is sticking rags or paper towels in the holes, then using an air blower
Was this the fix to your big oil leak ??
Great video by the way !!!!!💪🏼💪🏼
great video. nice hat..
P0303 here
The p0306 has returned , I'll have a video on it this weekend. .....
Honda bond? I never use that unless a customer asks me to put it back together because they know someone that can do it….
How much coolant did you lose doing this?
