I hate to admit how many pickles I’ve gotten myself into in the mountains. On a Vulcan no less. It starts with “I wonder where this one goes” and proceeds from there. When the dirt turns into rock, oh my. You hope it gets better around the bend, and sometimes it does. Looking at the trail thinking I can’t even turn this thing around and it sure is a long way down. I’ll never forget just stopping, perched on top of a boulder, no trail in site... but I could see a road. Yup. Took a seat and just had to breathe a bit. Suffice it to say, I can relate. Made it down and I think I may have kissed the ground. Pavement never looked so good! Welcome to the Rockies! 😎
Now THIS is what I LOVE to do. Albeit not as much fun on the 1290 as the 300 but still an awesome Adventure. You did well my man and your story telling just gets better with age. Like fine wine.....,
The effort you take to stop, set up the camera and capture video shows in the high quality of the final product. The trip itself was inspiring and exciting. The camera work and editing really shows your skills in telling the story. Well done!
Video doesn’t show how hard or steep the trail was or how long you were on it, but from what I saw you make it harder going uphill buy stopping so often on the hill. I’m 63 and rode all day through tough trails in Colorado. Momentum is your friend. Big bikes need to keep moving Or you’ll drop em on hills
Thanks for video. Key is to ride with people who share a common sense with yours. Say because of experiences I had with other riders who even not having more technique and level would still keep going or try to ahead in a situation like yours. Also with heavy bike like the GS which is also not helping. Think if not knowing the road better have a better assessment or find another. Good that it ended well for you. Avoiding injury.
Man i love adventuring with you we had a blast, rode some serious terrain and watching you grow as a rider for me was awesome. You kicked that days ass in the finial round! Thanks for pushing through and especially for finding the magic pizza place ;)
I only started adventure riding and think I made a right choice with smaller BMW f800gs adventure still will test ride the 1200 but was bit intimidating for new rider such as myself. Love your channel ( got the lone rider tent you reviewed) and its really good👍 so thanks.
What an awesome place, just makes you wonder the history that went on there back in the day. Very challenging riding for sure on the original route taken. I was living vicariously through you in that ascent and descent imagining me on my triumph xc800 doing that trek. Thank heavens for knobbies. Ride safe
I loved this video! I love them all and I'm usually binge watching a few at a time when I can but I had to stop and comment. I loved to see you both working together and I'm glad you experienced the reward in the end.
Such a great video Tim, and a proper adventure rider. The helmet video parts were amazing, at one point I felt I was riding the bike through that amazing mountain scenery!! Thank you very much for sharing such amazing journey!!!
Exellent video. I love CO. Been in many parts of it. We just rode the 160 on our '18 Goldwing DCT Tour Airbag from Bayfield to Wolfcreek Pass, Southfork and Creede and back all in a day. Such nice areas to ride. Yours are more off road so, you have/had great scenery too. Thank you for taking the time to video this beautiful ride and area. Maybe someday I'll get to do the same. Scott
Bro that day was awesome!!!!! I know it sucked that day but now how glad are we that we did it!!! Awesome video great edit and thanks for actually RIDING on our trip!!!!
Tim!!!! I’ve lived in Colorado the majority of my life & I have never even heard of Summitville & YOU rode there! God bless you brother! Thanks for turning me onto another Colorado gem. Peace!
That was an honest battle. I’ve been to Colorado enough times to what what that elevation does to you! 10k ain’t no joke! CO is awesome so many creeks along the canyon roads. Give you a SUB Tim! 👌🏼🏔
You’re awesome Tim. Great epic day indeed. Thank God for people like you contributing and enhancing life through the adventure motorcycling lifestyle. Ride safe and ride often. Peace.
Great Vid as always. Thx for sharing. sorry to say but I think the GS is done here - doesn't matter what the Marketing tells you. This is terrain for a 150 KG bike and not more.
That was some serious riding, glad you guys made it through safe and sound. loved the camera angles and effort put into the video. I recently had a ride that I too found myself done and couldn't wait to get off the bike and can sympathise with you on that one. Great video Tim!
Wow ! Genuinely to the whole thing! The fight to keep going and to stay alive and the scenery ...just amazing man ! I was inspired by you and others like you and just got back from a 2k mile trip with my son and it was amazing and hard but wonderful and my son and I grew together with the problems which were all new to us! I've safely got about 10k miles total riding and I thank you for sharing because I know I have learned from you. Thank you! My family also thanks you ! Be blessed my friend ! Ride safe
Wow that was some rough terrain. Colorado has some beautiful views. We love visiting there and have several times. Haha I bet that smoother road was quite a relief. Great road trip!
Thanks for showing me a reason to return to that area. Just finished a 15 day, 7 state, 3800 miles run which included the Bear Tooth Pass, Chief Joseph Highway and Crazy Woman Canyon. Fabulous part of the country. Ride to work. Work to ride.
Camera doesn’t do justice on how steep a hill is. We used to video ourselves doing crazy hillclimbs on dirt bikes in the early 2000s and they would look flat on video.
Man this makes me love my crf300l even more. Looks like a fun adventure, but damn taking a heavy bike in Colorado. It's ALWAYS rocky somewhere along the trip!
Hi there....welcome to CO!! New subscriber coming over from your collaboration with Rob and Prevost Life. I see your in a part of the state that I've least travelled in. Need to get down there! Are you coming by Ouray, at all, on your routing? Boy....we really need the rain and snow right now. But it is really awesome to still be getting access to the high country trails right now!
Tim seems to have the patience of Job , would love to see the video where Tim actually loses it and starts throwing some rocks around and says a four letter word or two , instead he calmly sits down , relaxes , regroups ,and goes on , i think we can all learn something from that , P.S. Cody , aka "the midnight rider", doesn't like early morning rising .. i m pretty sure he knows all the of the four letter words by heart , and can recall them anytime ,anyplace ..but he is probably a great friend to have on your side when involved in a random bar fight or struggling through an ugly trail ✌
LOL I am incredibly patient, Cody and I were talking about that on this trip. I did actually have a few melt downs, next time I will try to catch those on film, although they are more just sitting down and saying calmly how bad something sucks LOL
Brian you crack me up every time bro lol 😂 Tim is hard to rattle I have to give home props seriously I’m not sure if it’s living off the bike or what that has taught him to calmly walk through tough things but I admire the hell out of him for that! I do know and have invented a few four letter words hahah As to being a good friend I thank you for that and if you mean do I have a buddy’s back in any situation the answer is (insert four letter word here...) YES I do lol. Although I am to old to fight any more unless it’s for our lives lol. Most fighting these days is me fighting my damn bike hahah Cheers Brian!
2 Wheels And A Tent Your adventures are absolutely amazing and breathtaking! If you ever come in Europe and need a place to stay, my door is open! Greetings from Belgium 😉
Your videos just keep getting better and better. .Very nice work Tim Keep em coming Oh ya .I missed out on that gs.they sold it the day I was heading to the city to look at it.So I'm still looking.
being in Colorado and doing most of my riding here it makes more sense to have a smaller adventure bike like a tiger 800 xcx. Colorado is definitely the adventure state.
I was definitely wishing I was on something a little lighter for this ride, or at least had chose a better tire for the terrain. It is so pretty in Colorado I just didn't realize how rough it can get so quickly!
Hello Tim, nice to see that you are fine and that you are traveling again. Autumn has arrived in Germany. Our government advises against traveling because of Corona, even within Germany it is difficult. Greetings from Michael from Germany!
Good effort! That track looks so similar to some of the tracks here in NZ. The fatigue is more than you relise. I always suffer from hand cramp in those situations
Thank you for sharing this. Although I can still ride with my disability, this type of riding for me will not be able to happen. I love seeing your adventures and although mine will stay on the slabs for the most part I certaianly would have enjoyed when I was a fully able paerson.
Hey Tim, I've been starting to get really keen on ADV camping and was wondering if you've discussed personal satellite locators/communicators before. You might have cell service in North America and not even use them but either way I and others I'm sure would value your opinions on emergency equipment and planning.
Hey Jared, if you’re getting into a ADV camping, you might check out Tim‘s book called “The Fundamentals of Motorcycle Camping“. You’ll find information about satellite locators and a whole lot more! It’s a great resource and covers a lot of topics. Safe travels!
Looked like a hard day. That might have been a good road for a smaller dirt bike, but not so much for 2 loaded heavy bikes. Do you know why the town was there? Mining? Passage through the mountains? Good adventure, mission accomplished. 👍😎
Great video. Can you share what each of those routes were? I was looking at the map and it looks like there are a few different roads that lead to Summitville. I'd love to check this place out!
Dang, definitely the wrong tool for the job on that first trail, I could see riding it on my old CRF450X, but never on the CB500X, LOL! Glad y'all made it back down in one piece, awesome video! Happy weekend! 😊✌
I agree, there is a sadness about it, I like to imagine what life was like there when it was still thriving. This is the nature of a lot of old mining towns, things dry up and people move on.
So thankful I live here in CO; there’s enough for all levels of skill and style.
Your music choices complimented the storyline beautifully, well done
I love story time with Tim! :D
Thanks Amanda!
Wow what a great ride.

RESPECT for digging in there Tim and pushing through
The effort you take to stop, set up the camera and capture video shows in the high quality of the final product. The trip itself was inspiring and exciting. The camera work and editing really shows your skills in telling the story. Well done!
Excellent video as always, Tim and Cody. Thanks for sharing.
That was excellent. We’ve all gotten over our heads in many different ways riding.
What an utterly superb video - your best ever I think.
Thank you very much! So glad you enjoyed this one!
That's what you can call off road riding😎. Super video, well done. Thanks for sharing this abandoned village, nice story.
Cheers from France
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks very much :)

The struggles make it worthwhile. Things that money can’t buy...
Enjoyed that
Knowing when to turn back is a key mountain survival skill. You lived to tell the tale. Come back next year, and I bet you’ll rock it.
So true!
In a different way looks .ike fun. The rewards after... thanks for sharing...
Thanks for watching! You are right, it was fun, sometimes in the moment, sometimes in retrospect.
The ride did look super challenging, really inspiring video! Keep up the adventures!
Man i love adventuring with you we had a blast, rode some serious terrain and watching you grow as a rider for me was awesome.
You kicked that days ass in the finial round!
Thanks for pushing through and especially for finding the magic pizza place ;)
Haha the magic re-appearing pizza place. That was a blast Cody!

The music matched so perfectly! That was excellent! I think a quad has it's place there with a base camp truck.( More than one tool in the box)
Yes that road was very rough but at least you knew when to say enough was enough and turn around. Thanks and a very interesting video.
Very nice, thanks for the video. Beautiful country..........
Wow that was some rough terrain. Colorado has some beautiful views. We love visiting there and have several times. Haha I bet that smoother road was quite a relief. Great road trip!
Yes it was! I enjoyed the rough section, but more so after it was over LOL. All part of the adventure.
@@FTAAdventures 🤣😂
For some people an adventure is a poorly planned vacation. Myself, I like difficulties that I can overcome. If I can’t... grumble, grumble.
The photography is great - especially the panoramic view of Summitville. Great job!

Good stuff, those are all great areas. Although I have never been to Crazy Woman Canyon, I'll have to add that to my list.
Great job on this Tim! Really well edited and like the drone shots. Clean and smooth!
Camera doesn’t do justice on how steep a hill is. We used to video ourselves doing crazy hillclimbs on dirt bikes in the early 2000s and they would look flat on video.
It's funny how that happens! I wish I knew how to capture the realistic version better lol
Looks so freakin epic Tim! You and Cody grabbed some killer footage too. I truly hope to ride in places like that at some point.
Sweet video Tim! Thanks!
That looks like such an amazingly fun trail... just not on a fully loaded GS.
Right! I want to take my ATV on this, I have land fairly close to here
It was a blast, would have been funner on something smaller.
Tim
Excellent video, love the cinematography, the drone footage was excellent.

The hard road that you took to Summitville - do you know the forest road number. I spend summers in South Fork CO. Just curious. I've done the easier

Thanks Ivan! I appreciate that
Would love to try this but unfortunately with my back the way it is I would never make it. Great share.👍
It was pretty rough the first day, the second way we took up was much smoother.
So what was the first road you tried? Does it have a Forest Service road # or other designation?
Always makes me a little sad to see the abandoned house, that was someone's life and they just walked away from it. Very beautiful scenery though.
I agree, there is a sadness about it, I like to imagine what life was like there when it was still thriving. This is the nature of a lot of old mining towns, things dry up and people move on.
That's why I'll never have a big heavy adventure bike. Too much weight.
What kinda bike was your friend on? Is that a Husky 701?
Wow
Nice job Tim, looks like you had good air. Lots of smoke in Colorado this year.
