LAZY Man's GUIDE To School (How To Sustainably Minimize Your Workload)

  • In this video, I'm gonna show you how my friends and I got away with doing well in school while doing less than other top students. A lot of my friends and I were as far as it comes from being "studygram" material. But we were still very successful, and as someone who's had lazy phases and productive phases, in this video, I'll highlight how we still did well. This isn't a study strategy video perse, it's more a video on what to prioritize and how to approach things when you're a student.
Ik that there will be people that say this isn't lazy enough, but the purpose of this video is to show you the laziest sustainable way to the top. There's lazier ways to just do passably well, just by toning down what you see in this video. Today, by sheer necessity, I work a lot harder than in HS, but if u ask my mom, she'll say I'm still lazy.
While originally, I wanted it to be a comprehensive guide detailing things about what homeworks are important, what I tried on and what I didnt, and so on so forth, after a while I realized that A. that would make this guide an hour long. B. A lot of these things were really case by case. However, there were a few general rules and guidelines that hopefully can help you intuitively answer those questions for yourself.
Like fine wine, these principles might be slightly difficult at first, and only seem marginally "lazier" than what other top students are doing. But when you get to college, you'll see the difference because you'll still be focusing on what matters. And the more familiar you get with your own studying, the more you can cut out of a routine until your friends are struggling to keep up unless they do what you do.
I'll try to answer ANY QUESTIONS in the comments. Good luck and enjoy your studying!
Also sorry for not posting for 2.5 weeks. Ive had a different video done for 1.5 weeks, but there have been some logistical issues on that front so it will be posted next week. thanks.

If this was actually a "lazy man" he wouldn't be as productive. There's a big difference between working hard, not working hard enough, and working smart. This guy works smart and it's incredibly satisfying to see giving you the keys to smart studying. I think it's not about about doing less than you have to, I think it's about not doing more than you need to (to achieve your goal). Thanks for the tips, I appreciated this video!

"Work smarter" this has been surfacing a lot but people shouldn't generalise everything, some things only pays off by working hard and some people simply can't cope with that kind of studying they don't catch information as fast as us,people should break out of the circle, find what works for them.Mostly top students go back to working hard to get that extra point thats seperate them from the average students.

I’ve actually, almost subconsciously, have done the thing where I make a good impression on my teacher’s at the beginning and then continue to slowly but steadily make leeway for myself in more areas that I’ve already grown accustomed to. It’s even better if you’ve had that teacher before and so you don’t have to start from scratch. This does work, he’s right. The teachers even start avoiding picking you cause they know you already know it, and will only pick you to set an example if no one else can manage to answer the question.

I realized I have been such a perfectionist and how it harmed my efficiency without being able to give me a higher grade.
I wondered why my sister can easily get 95 the same like I did but my sister only need spend fewer hours than I did. I always thought that it is because she is so much clever than I was in the way she works but I didn't know-how.
After watching this video, I realized the thing you mentioned is the mindset that my sister always uses: she aimed for just above 90 and take a rest, then everything turns out awesome. Thank you so much, this is something no one talked about but insanely eye-opening.

Better off taking 5 classes and getting mostly A's rather than taking 8 classes and getting C's and D's. Load management to allow focus, that's the trick. GPA matters more in some aspects than covering more ground in most cases. Might have to go more part-time with work for the school things to pick up, while it's still required that you participate in school.

Tip from a lazy student that it’s in preparatory school (I’m 16 years old so calculate for your country):
If they leave you a work that they want you to use your own words, search websites that changes words and even summarizes the info you have.
If they leave you a work that the due date is in a week or so, don’t wait to the day before to start with it, you’ll feel pressure and everything will go downhill. Instead start your homework right at the moment and you’ll have the homework ready to send and you can do other things during that week.
Organize with friends to work in some homework that you feel you couldn’t do completely by yourself.
    Hope something of this works!

I've applied this through all high school and indeed, it worked wonders. When I started college... well, things kinda fell apart. It took me a lot of time getting used to actually put in a lot of work hours outside the already long hours of lessons, mostly because the "lazy" approach still means A LOT of study time on my career, and as I've come to learn, I''ve got almost no discipline.
So yes, the lazy approach not always will mean plenty of free time, but using these concepts (animedoro helps so much!), being productive doesn't have to always be a painful experience.

Pro tips: taking notes sucks ass, just listen to the lecture properly, read the material once when you have free time and you already know enough to get a high C or low B in some cases. In order to get that final push for the grade you want pull up the topic on UA-cam or get an app to read text online aloud and watch / listen to it while eating, cleaning, working out, walking to school even and the actual studying will end up being just memorizing the definitions, formulas, dates and names (or whatever your subject is) to the point where you can define it yourself / at least understand what every component does in the formula. And for dates names and things you have to remember in general I recommend associations or if you are like me and that shit don't work, read it a couple of times then do whatever - take a break or do whatever you do, then read it again a couple times and repeat this over and over; in one day like this I spend maybe less than 30 mins 'studying' specific dates and names of events for history class but can remember up to 20 in that short amount of time, and as long as you read them out every so often once you remember them all you can trick your brain into thinking like it's useful info and it will hardly forget it all the way up to the test. Only problem w my method is that sometimes you need to actually sit down and practice subjects like math or whatever your Achilles heel is, until you get how the task is supposed to be done you will need to spend some time every other day at least, and that sucks but I promise you it is basically an exception to the way things normally go and not a rule by any means. Finally, in this time of online school it is important to have a schedule, to do whatever works best for you and only that, and never be afraid or postpone a written assignment because the empty pages can be scary sometimes, just write whatever first, you can always change it up a bit later on. Good luck, hopefully we are the last generations that need to deal with all this bs that is the modern schooling system, but either way never forget that school for better or worse is just a part of your life, and so treat it like it matters but not like it is the ONLY thing that matters, that is just how you get depression.

honestly i only did i tiny bit worse but my mental health was so muuch better for it. if you can get away with getting slightly lower on a test, its not a failure- use it as an experement to see how little u can do revision wise

Until I switched to my boarding school to further my HS education instead of some random public school (no, I'm not super smart, I just work smart, like this guy) where we have to stay up until 10:30 to prove we are at our dorm, I would go to bed at 10, wake up at 5:30, study/hw until 7, then get ready for school. This was good for me because I was ready to go at the start of the day and not drained by my classes. I got amazing grades, spent less time studying, and I could play games with my friends online until 10:00, and then went to bed. So much better than being sleep deprived from doing homework into the late hours.

I did my best when I tried to do the least amount of work to get an A. Usually it was getting an A on every homework assignment and a B on the tests. Or also getting an A on the regular tests and a C on the final and still getting an A in the class. Just use the syllabus the figure out what you need to get on assignments/tests.
