Visited Corner Brook last week as part of a cruise from UK. The Bowater's exhibition in the City Hall Museum stimulated my interest. Myself, my father, and my grandfather all worked for Walmsleys (Bury) Ltd. a Lancashire engineering company that produced much of the paper and pulp machinery used in the mill. Sadly the company is no more. Fascinating history of the once massive paper industry.
My Dad always wanted to go back to cornerbrook but my mother didn't want to. Many years ago when I was a young boy a show was on TV all about the papermill in cornerbrook. It showed the guys working on the machines and my Dad got all excited and started to name some workers he new that he worked with years before. It was pretty cool.😊

Working out here from the west coast, so neat to see the local history. Thank you.
My father was a pulp wood contractor for Bowater's company in the 50s, 60s and 70s in Hare Bay and on the road to Baie Vert.
My dad worked on the papermachines in cornerbrook way back in the mid 1940 and early 1950. My grandpa was a millwright at that same time
Awesome❤ My Grandfather worked in the yard and my other Grandfather worked for Bowaters in Deer Lake☺
