I have, more of a spin on FTL kind of gameplay, a more closed map but you can go to different places in each system so it evens out, also the expeditions gives a more realistic feel cause there is actually boots on the ground. The versatility is completely based on the units you spawn, while the guns are more of a supportive filler then directly impactful, the officers are so important at higher levels you may just base your builds on officers and special officers you got from the gameplay. FTL vs Crying Suns: FTL wins at a score of 4 while crying suns has 2. FTL: challenging, very versatile ship based adventure, smooth and simplistic gameplay, replayability so you can collect all the ship types. Crying suns: very deep storyline that plays into most aspects of the gameplay, key features that diversifies gameplay and focusing aspects.
On the teleporter - several fights, such as 1:42:57 feature WEAK enemy crew, you have 2 mantis which do 1.5 times damage against 2 humans on a 3 shielded ship. The fastest, safest, and most profitable way of winning in such scenarios is sending your mantis. Also, allow me to mention that ship rewards are greater when you kill off enemy crew (higher general rewards and chances of extra crew or weapons). With your type of gameplay, I would suggest obtaining ming control + firebomb. Also, given your tendency (not to criticize, just observing habits) not to target shields at all with missiles to create an opening, I would suggest hacking shields so you can fire away at any system you like. Firebombs on shields and mind controlling the guy instead of allowing a repair also does the job.
Every time he refuses to fire his Pegasus at the enemy shield when they have more shields than he has lazers, I die a little. Just delete their shield for the rest of the fight and guarantee that ALL your lazers hit for the rest of the fight. PLEASE.

I played it years ago, I bought it again on steam, so I could get the updates, this weekend and the game is good enough to buy twice I got my first win on easy with this ship. In the end I had 3x Burst II and a Pegasus. In the last battle everything was on fire, no shields in o2 running out, but the guns kept going and made it though.
This ship is actually one of the best if you use it properly. Getting the shields early sealed your victory from thr get-go. Also go for the weapons first if they have missiles, for the love of god.
"I love lasers." I once managed to get two Vulcans on the same ship. Together with a Defense Drone Mk1 and decent shields, I just... couldn't lose. Like, anything. Ever.
Try it on hard mode man it's intoxicating. Once you go hard you can't go back. It forces you to adapt to pitiful levels of scrap against overpowered ships that can wreck you in a single jump if you aren't careful and you tread the razors edge between defeat and victory constantly.
Easy with cheat engine, you just have to scan for your first Scrap number, than use or get some more, scan again until you have only one number left and than change the value to your desired Scrap
It might not be a great game for streaming because it runs into the issue of 'optimize every turn', but if you haven't played the devs' other game Into the Breach, it's pretty good.
rule of thumb hit weapons first if you have a multishot weapon limiting their damage, shields are nice but you had a multishot weapon to start. i also love how he called one of the strongest armed starting ship is bad....
When you have boarders like the ones in the last boss fight, just open the doors to let all the oxygen out from that room. The upgraded blast doors can take a real beating. Sure you'd loose the cloak, but they will retreat back to their ship, or if you disable their teleporter in time, die from lack of oxygen.
I just wanna throw this out there since my wife and I are big cat people and I would be remiss if I didn't say something; If your senior cat is starting to get picky about his water, it may behoove you to take him for some blood work. Specifically checking kidney function. It's been my experience with the many cats we've owned over the years that you might be able to catch early kidney issues and manage them successfully, gaining years of quality life for your furry fraaand. He also could be perfectly healthy and just getting spoiled and picky. Can't hurt to check though! :) I love your personality and appreciate your positivity!
Artillery beam is a low-cost burst of damage, especially early vs low shielding. It puts in plenty of work, especially as it can operate with weapons damaged or jammed

So instead of leaving everyone in combat in a room with no oxygen, close all doors then open some doors and your crew won't be suffocating while fighting! Or they won't be suffocating after they WIN the fight lol
With Phillip at the end. They can only do enough damage during mind control at full combat ability for one bar of health, and I think that is with level two mind control. I just did a kestrel b run where I had a perfect ability farm ship that couldn't get rid of all of my shields and had mind control. I basically maxed out my whole crew on everything shuffling around everyone. Next time leave him be and make him repair what he broke. This late in the game it doesn't matter but it boosts his repair and combat ability
Umm...just so you know, repair speed us also fire extinguishing speed, and mantis are the literal worst at both, with humans second worst (humans have a hidden stat nerf against fire), whereas rocks have a fire extinguishing buff and engi repair power equates to fires make them both amazing.
I just watched four of your previous FTL series and was wondering why all your ships are locked again? Also the federation cruiser probably has the easiest layout B unlock requirements.
I dunno if you are aware of this but any enemy ship that's automated (drones, the final boss if you kill all the crew) has I think 1.25% repair speed since its automated repairs.

Oh my God you're triggering me. Missile their shields so you can use your lasers. it doesnt make sense to fire at the pilot if he isn't charging the ftl. Their evade bonus is rarely very steep. You can tell if he is charging by a message, and above their ship window it says ftl charging. So many fights you just targeted engines and pilot for really no reason. Missile or even laser the shields first almost always. Have one continually keeping the shields down so you not only one maintain steady damage, you open up over double the damage output by now being able to hit with other lasers. Not to mention in asteroid fields you failed to bring down their shields for free damage twice. ONLY when you want to stop ftl or you have 3 weapons or their weapons and shields are down do you target evade systems willy nilly.
I mean he won, but yeah, only reason to not target shields first is if you have an ion weapon, which will ionize the shields anyway. And targeting piloting when the other ship was neither fleeing nor a rebel ship that would affect the fleet pursuit, and getting boarding and not going for several potentially easy crew kills...painful indeed! On the plus side it does make me want to play it myself, unlike watching the really good players. I watched one guy win a couple hard mode no pause runs and I'm thinking I might as well quit forever. Unbelievable micro-ing skills.
You are having a terrible time, because you keep shooting at their shields instead of weapons - in the 1st and 2nd sector enemies often have 1 shield, you have 3 shots - 1 to down 1 shield, and 2 to damage weapons - rendering enemies useless, if they have 1-2 shields it doesn't matter.
I've played FTL in its beta stages way back when...back before when people where trying to figure out how to get Obama to step down from presidency and replace him with someone worse without looking like a racist.
Goddamn this was painful to watch, so many bad strategies it hurts my brain. Teleport is fantastic against flagship - since his OP weapons are separate rooms! Just teleport 2 mantis into his missiles and instantly you will kill 1 crewman, and quickly disable his most OP triple missile weapon - next you teleport the mantis back - and you probably won't need to do it again until part 2 - when you again teleport your 2 mantis crewman to his missile weapon room - instantly his threat has been reduced by at least 1/3rd - without any risk to your crew. Cloak is also fantastic for flagship, but if you don't upgraded it - you loose so much of it's usefulness - upgraded cloak last longer and recharges faster - basically it's important when the flagship shoots missiles or charges super weapon - but cloak level 1 will only let you dodge one of those and likely once per round because you might not get the chance to do more . Your fixation on that ridiculous charge laser - it gives you 4 weak shots after 20 seconds, while your very good heavy laser gives you 2 strong shots every 13 seconds and you need to always manually manage your charge laser, while you could leave your burst and your heavy lasers on auto and enjoy 5 shots to weapon systems every 10 seconds.... and in the last store you had a burst laser III - that that thing in combination with your own burst laser II can take down the flagship with almost no issues.... I was screaming at the screen for the last 2 hours and now my head hurts, my stomach aches and I feel sick.... if you manage to lose to the flagship I'm afraid I'll throw something at my screen....
2 slot boarding rooms are so incredibly bad. boarding always gets borderline useless with late game and enemy ships having huge crews, but why even bother to put in 2 slot rooms into the game? its nothing but a noob trap.
yes, go for boarding when you have an artillery beam that fires automatically, i'm sure that won't end in disaster

the most mental tactic is 4 flak cannons and mind control. mind control pilot as all flak shoot at once, they cant dodge resulting in 12 hits

That’s impossible. 3x burst II is 6 power and a Pegasus is 3 power. Weapons system only allows 8 power.
The artillery beam is pretty op. Flagship is beatable with max beam + defense drones + cloaking

There is some weird problem with the saves on this game. It happened to me once all my progress was deleted and I had to unlock everything again.
