This dude can’t be serious. He would rather force his child to make his dinner than heat up an prepared meal? And he claims his wife should feel ashamed? 😮

Ben does way too much overthinking and is very inconsiderate towards his wife. If he can get up on a daily basis and go to work, then he can also take some time out to help himself and her by making his own meals when necessary. Quit being an ingrate. 😒

From what I’ve seen in these stories if Kathleen defrosted the meals using the stove and put it on a plate he literally wouldn’t be able to tell the difference I don’t understand why these people are so damn picky!?

My friend’s husband is just like this. He wants to SEE her cook. He refuses prepped meals or leftovers and yells at her about it. I can’t stand him but for some reason she loves him and she’s an adult so. Anyway, she’s ran ragged. Works 40 hrs a week and they have 2 young kids. What a mess.

And making a little girl fix him dinner rather than him making dinner for them. That’s the worst. My mom worked so wasn’t home to start dinner but had it prepped so all I mad to do was put it in the oven and start it cooking until I got old enough to actually cook.

Both of them suck. Ben is everything horrible you described him as... but Kathleen threatened to physically assault her husband -- in terms which made it seem as if this isn't the first time. She's also using Lily as a weapon against her father.
Lily needs to be in her mother's primary custody, but with visitation and family therapy with her father. That's the realistic solution, but there are never any realistic solutions in these stories.

KellynnD, yes, and it’s necessary for most households to have two full time incomes for sure. I just wish the author had at least inferred that there was at least one other responsible adult looking after the child also. All in all, though, I thought this story was quite satisfying.

Big piece of advice for everyone: The only person you ABSOLUTELY HAVE to live with, for the whole span of your life, is YOU YOURSELF. So work on yourself to make YOU a good enough person to live with. Take care of yourself, take care of your home, and learn to take care of the people around you...because why would they want to stick around if YOU are a self-centered jerk?

Ben is a terrible person doing nothing but holding his family down & attempting to brainwash his daughter as he forces her to do shit for him cause he can't be bothered.
To the end he acted like he's still all high & mighty but inside he's desperate & upset he lost everything(likely also failing to afford alcohol to drink away his sorrows/money too) while the wife that is innocent of all his accusations took his daughter & is happy. His desperateness is so bad he's delusional as he thinks OP will return to him then begs her to get back with him.
I hope OP is still in contact with her ex-MIL so her daughter can see her grandma plus the MIL seems to care/be on her side for obvious reasons. That poor lady having Ben for a son.

The only thing I think is a little over the top is when she started talking about her new husband and the fact he had assets of 77 billion dollars is the fact he would be flying on just a regular airline and quitw literally being 1 of the top 15 richest people in the world he would certainly have his own private means of flying. So i would of reworked that NARRATIVE to make it not sound SO ABSURD. Him being a MILLIONAIRE is way more believable.

Geez. This guy. He gives a guy I know a run for each other’s money. Not sure who is worse.
So I have a neighbor…. Oh boy. He couldn’t use a microwave, couldn’t clean or do anything. He would refuse. Never had a job. Yet somehow got married to a great girl. She works 70 hours a week. Only to come home to do all the housework, all the cooking, everything. He had the nerve to complain she isn’t home at all. He decided to say to everyone she’s cheating. Even following her to work to catch her.
Well it came to an end. She drives home, stopped at a house. He pulls up behind gets out. Started yelling. He had no idea his wife dropped off her MOM and DAD. They were going to shop but forgot their wallet so she picked them to take them home to get it and was going to take them back to the store because she was planning on shopping too.
Once the parents got in his face…. He shut up real quick. They divorced. She kicked him out. He was forced to move back with his parents. He was forced to get a job as a janitor at a mall. It’s been a few years and he’s still working there. His ex wife was taking a dental class at a college with my wife. Became friends. Both are dental assistants. Separate places of employment but my wife and her exercise together.
His ex wife was shocked I went to high school with him. He was horrible then too…..

I forgot to comment on this last night but I feel like the titles need work. Like the three years later thing came near the end when the title makes it seem like the fact he returned three years later was going to get more focus while dealing with the fact he accused her of cheating.
Instead the thing is about him accusing her of cheating before kicking her out leading her to taking their kid, calling him out for being the actual cheater before three years later NEAR the END of the story he acts like he's fine when in reality his life fell apart & he's desperate for her to return.

    "duties as a wife"
Duties as a wife do not involve puting up with disrespect from a husband.
It is not part of her duties. In these stories it is allways one of them yelling shut up and stuff. Do people realy think they are allowed to talk to their spouse like that? Why would anyone allow that?First time they say it you jump on them and give them the "ghospel acording to the wife/husband" and let them know what is what
And Ben is just lazy. He hates his job but doesn't want to change it and put an effort in anything. And he thinks he deserves a prize for being lazy? The only reward he would get from me would be a 3 ftlong stick across his back.

The atrocious pronunciations! I’m embarrassed for the readers.

I really wish you guys would put more imagination and thought into the third act of these stories. The ending was entirely too predictable. You over rely on yh same cookie cutter endings and it's a shame. She could've became a successful pilot and handled everything on her own while meeting a good dude who WASN'T a CEO or anything of the sort. Also, please stop making everyone a CEO. It's old and tired.
