kenny thank you. every once in awhile you do stuff offhand while showing us something else, and those little moves are what i watch your vids for. zooms and cursor switches, things you probably forgot you do...thats the gold. my editing speed is getting legendary, taking everyones work this summer >:D
This is super useful, I often do a bunch of improvised runs when I'm writing a new song and sometimes not all the material works, I don't have a place for a part, or I don't just want to delete the part outright. I'll often mute the clip but it's a little cumbersome so I have to go into item properties to do so, this is way better and super cool. I'm glad I stuck with Reaper.
Wow!! Trimming out the extra noise on items was literally my least favourite part of making music. I'm sure people knew about this but I DIDNT!! For today YOUR MY HERO KENNY!! Great vid.
Excellent! Now, I know this is an old video, but: say I have a mouse with several extra keys. Can I assign activating smart tool for cutting to a keyboard short cut? So cutting-smart tool can be toggled?
Friend, I have a doubt. How do I move items on the timeline with the right mouse button? That is, drag to the side to the other, but with the right mouse button and not with the left. I am very grateful if you help me.
Nice tutorial! I was wondering why my custom icons were glowing up when right clicked. Just when you think you've mastered Reaper you stumble upon something like this and learn something new...
hello and congrats and thank you for all the tutorials :) for some reason that i can't really understand, the 'de-esser' action works on my track envelopes but not the take ones. Do you have any idea what i might have wrong? thank you again. excellent tutorials!
If you heal splits with the smart tool, doesn't it resample the fx processing every time you heal the splits (which takes away from the quality of the original sample)?
Heal reconnects two items that were part of the same audio file, making it one item all over again. Hence you can't heal two items that weren't part of the same audio file before they got split. Glue will take several items, coming from the same audio source file or not, and turn them into one single audio file.
Hi Thanks for all the great reaper resources. I am a Linux user I run Linux Mint Mate 19.1 I was thinking of running reaper and I am trying to decide weather to install Ubuntu Studio which runs the low latency kernel. Then install reaper or keep Mint which is lighter but needs the low latency kernel installed then install reaper. Unfortunately there seems to be some issues with the latter path. I am wondering what your views are on the best Linux distro for reaper . Thanks again for all the great reaper work you share .Dave
Can anybody tell me how or point me to a video in which I can learn how to apply one effect to multiple tracks at the same time but pre slave-track effects. Like if I have a GuitarA, a GuitarB, and a LeadGuitar track all using different amp sims but wanna apply a pitch shift to all 3 at the same time PRE amp sims. When I create a folder and apply the pitch shift to the folder it applies the effect after the amp sims which make it sound like trash.
MAN I SEEN JUST ABOUT EVERY VIDEO REAPER TOP ALL DAWS..AND I HAVE STUDIO ONE 4.5,ABLETON LIVE 9.5,REASON 10,BITWIG 3,SONAR,SAMPLITUDE,PROTOOLS 8,CUBASE 6...................... SMFH

What a hidden gem!

Sambasevam Shanmugam it’s two years later now. You still feel you have mastered Reaper?
thank you so much for making these tutorials
The de-esser one was very useful. Thank you.

Really helpful as always! Thank you
Thanks for this tuto, very clear and interesting !
3:42 what was that instant heal-all wizardry? :o
It's a function to heal items in the options menu
Kenny, what's the difference between heal and glue?
Heal reconnects two items that were part of the same audio file, making it one item all over again. Hence you can't heal two items that weren't part of the same audio file before they got split.
Glue will take several items, coming from the same audio source file or not, and turn them into one single audio file.
Trying very hard but the Quantize part isn't working at all. Can I get some help ?

Linux Mint is fine for Reaper.
Make your own tools. Can't get any better than that.
That smart tool is essential.
thanks so much man

guess there's no way around using 3 pitch shifters before the amp sims
wow. really useful info. thx
Alt+M to toggle mute and unmute items
I made shortcuts it as protools style, 😂
This is a hidden feature for sure. No way any user find this info in the app!
lol the De -esser....♫♪

Wouldn't call this smart tool, I'd call this dedicated tools or armed actions. I was just about to make a video on this today.
I was going by the User Guide. But he may have coined that phrase.
