I am a plumber one product I stand behind is liquid plumr hair eliminator gel. That will unclog a shower ptrap in 3 minutes it’s honestly pretty awesome
I definitely will kee your advice in mind. Only thing is that I don't have long hair (1/2") Edit: Because I don't take advice from just anyone. I've been a landscaper for over 45plus years, and I've had to deal with some real wackjobs. "Karens" are my #1 pests.
A good friend of mine builds drain fields and he says that pumping every 3 years is the first step, but when used in addition they can help extend the life of a drain field. But more importantly is to just be careful what you put down the drain what cleaning products and soap you use
Rid x will allow the broken down sludge into the drain field and clog the biological mat around the drainfield. Which will eventually cause a failed system.
@@H3lzsn1p3rgenerally the smaller particles are the more likely they are to cause problems because they don't settle in the tank as quickly. So using something that breaks all the solids down into tiny pieces isn't a good idea. Same reason garbage disposals can be an issue if used excessively. A tank outlet filter is always a good idea and I spec them on every system I design.
@@kelseybarrett3560 Haha Your Welcome Sincerely, Andrew. and i totally miss wrote that last post wow i just re-read it. i was trying to just state that ive never had a septic system and because of all his shorts and alot of reading on my part ive know learned more about these and how they work. and im not using rid x haha
Obviously, the seller is going to tell you to use it monthly, but every other month worked for me. That was AFTER paying $500 to have the tank emptied where the previous owner didn't have anything done for years. And 8+ years later, it hadn't needed anything else done. You're also missing the fact that had that same home been in a municipality, the oftentimes inseparable bill of water/sewer/garbage collection is easily $80-$100/month or more. Because my girlfriend works at a hospital, she wants to be in town. Our collective 3 bills are around $110/month. Buy the RidX.
I was at Home Depot and the section where they have cleaning products, they sell individual 1 month boxes of Rid X (it was about $10 last time I was there) and you go to the back of the store where plumbing stuff is and it was a 2 month supply like the box in the video for the same price. Stocked up on all of these 2 month supply boxes for a year and probably saved $60-70 (including tax). I do think Rid X helps. My mom has been using it for years. Plus i had a local septic guy pump my tank and he said my tank didn't look to bad but when I mentioned Rid-X, he got offended and was saying how I should buy their product instead as it would do a better job. I'm thinking "if my tank doesn't look that bad, it's obviously doing the job good enough"
I have a question about sewer flies and their larvae. Is it desirable to have them in your septic tank or not? We recently had ours pumped after twelve years ( I know that is neglect) It was a very solid consistency with little liquid. No flies or larvae. My neighbor had his pumped also.. he had neglected his for about ten years. His was mostly black liquid ( like swamp water) teaming with flies and larvae. The septic technician said his looked good. Should I try to introduce sewer fly larvae into my tank? I can’t find any information. Love your channel BTW! Very informative and educational! I’m impressed with the quality work that you do!
I lived in Hebron Indiana for 23 years I know my parents had our cuffin tank pumped once. My dad used rid ex every month and we had a high water table where we lived
The thing they really need to put on the market for septic tanks is something to dissolve or chemically break down those so-called """flushable""" wipes. Maybe they could make a brand of wipes that is specifically made so that the structure and fibers will break down to their base chemical components upon exposure to a certain chemical. Obviously, this would be expensive and every company's wet dream to be able to sell not only wipes but also a patented system to break them down, but my guy in these videos encounters so much trouble with wipes something's gotta be done. Obviously the advertising on these flushable wipes needs to be forced to change to reflect the fact that they're not actually flushable. Also, the word flushable is a trick. Flushable means 'able to be flushed,' not 'able to be flushed and won't cause your municipal sewer lines / septic system horrible trauma.' Someone has to step in and clarify in big letters on these boxes that they are not septic safe and will not break down.
I believe Rid x is worth it because of the fact a house owner with a septic tank does not want to have a thick sludge. In this way, it would be easier for the sludge to be pump when it is time to empty the septic tank.
There is so much to wrong with what you’re implying in this video… Of course septic tanks need to be pumped every so often. But which one requires less frequent pumping, the one with anaerobic microorganisms constantly eating and breaking down the poop, or the tank without it? Pretty simple.
Oh yes, this product is a scam because you pay just as much to prolong times between pumping as you do for the pumping. You actually don't want your septic tank contents to break down too much because then you'll have liquified stuff going out into the drain field instead of staying in the septic tank. For the only reason sludge stays in the tank is because it is heavy enough to sink to the bottom, whereas if it gets liquified it has nothing to make it settle to the bottom of the tank and stay there. Oh yes, this qualifies for a RID-X SCAM ALERT!
We use red lights for years we ever had 17 from 17 was put in back in the '70s Red x and all that stuff we never had to pump it to the last year in 2020 we had the pump it for the first time Talia and couldn't find Red x nowhere to put in the system The coincidence or reddites would do work this y'all want to not tell people right at works that's where y'all can make extra money doing what y'all do hahaha
My mother in law used that shit religiously. Had their tank pumped 25 yrs after they moved in. Dude said itcwas the best septic tank he'd ever seen.

Adding a filter to the outlet as well and your drainfield will have a long and healthy life
Rid x will allow the broken down sludge into the drain field and clog the biological mat around the drainfield. Which will eventually cause a failed system.
@@ChrisCosbylaberynth1how would that magic happen? Thats nothing to do with rid-x

I appreciate you did the math and broke it down for us.
House im in haven't been pumped in over 20 years. The previous owners said they only used this stuff so im using it now.

My mom always used Rid x
We never had any problems
It's better to have it pumped and inspected every two years to be sure before there's a problem with the leach field .
Got my septic pumped after 5 years, used nothing but ridx, the operator said to use a little more next time. 1000 gal. Tank
Love the Varco shirt, great company.
Add the cost of rid-x plus the cost of pumping is what your total would be,
The box says with normal maintenance,

Absolutely.
😂
Not the bacteria 🤣
Do any of these products help with anything?
Me- “obviously get it pumped…”
Also me- *goes and counts my “unblocking” products in bathroom*
I get my septic tank pumped out every 3 years
Have you ever found condoms in someone's septic or be the reason for a clog? Would be a great money shot
Very interested on your thoughts on how much one should pay for a badet!
You do both to help save your leach field
Nothing like breaking down the waste so that it goes out to your drain field.
Have you ever got like a infection or disease from cleaning these things?
Maybe both?

I would try it first and if it doesn’t work just hire a guy to pump it out
