I'd love more stuff along this theme (privacy/security).
Need more of them.
Me too.
Linus is a corporate sellout, its a miracle he even covered this one issue. His money masters depend on being able to secretly datamine its users.
Why does his head look like it's overlayed on linus' body
WHAT HAS BEEN SEEN, CANNOT BE UNSEEN!
you just put yourself on a hit list, you found out that John is actually Linus' son from the future...DUN DUN DUNNNNN
It is
This sounds incredibly stupid, but I think it's purely because of the jacket. Usually, Linus is the only one who actually wears black and orange.
Techquickie suggestions:
1. How phantom cameras work.
2. How 3D cameras work.
3. How a physics engine is made.
4. How a programming language is made.
5. How an architecture (like x86) is made.
6. How feasible Rayton Solar's idea is (unlikely feasible, but is seeking investments).
7. Why windows 10 has so much trouble with hot swapping audio outputs.
8. Why its so difficult for other OS's than Windows to compete in the gaming industry.
9. The future of Chrome OS, and what it could mean.
10. How parallelization works with video games, and why some games don't enable it.
11. The future of Windows 10 Game Mode... blegh.
HI, How are your questions now?
@@charlesjsescoto I'm not sure anyone answered any of these, but some seem OBE at this point (like Rayton Solar).
Thank you Techquickie's guys
*Google Chrome wants to know your location*
I’m impressed in this guys weight loss. I know it’s been awhile but I haven’t been up to date with Linus and company since their moving vlogs
Yey! Jon! Liked it already because Jon!
Miss luke
why tho
Near as I can tell from research, nothing. I see t his comment on a lot of techquickie videos that I'm pretty sure it's a meme at this point.
nah they posted on the forums earlier that he was fired
Huh? link plz.
He work with LMG Floatplane right?
Just hit 2 mil congrats ☺️☺️😊
Websites always tell me I'm at the wrong city. Once they placed me 70 kilometers away.
nothing is private online, everything we do is tracked
if you are careful you can mitigate most of it
best sponsor transition ever
Nice work jon! this is cool and creepy.
Ty for the advice!
good explaination
And then you have amateur tech warrior that complains on facebook about privacy issues about Win10
LOL
I've blocked location service both in Windows and my browser. When I look up my IP, it only knows my city, no "general location" or anything like that, when it does anyway... Sometimes it set me up to be in Ontario... a whole other province from where I live, so... I guess not using wifi helps as well?
If someone, or the government, really wanted track you and spy on you, there isn't a damn thing you can do.
I've blocked nothing, and still show location in other side of the city.
Google knows my location :-/ exactly 1000kms from where im now 😂
Umar Akhtar that’s the location of your ISP. The list of exact location is only available to your ISP and your government
so it seems linus convinced you about hosting tech quickie videos ha? nice one there.
Good info there. Cheers.
4:48 poor you guys, hardest part of the job ;) But thanks for another hosting, and good topic.
was waiting for the tunnel bear ad. Talked about IP and Location = Tunnel Bear.
Great information!!!
That tunnel bear plug at the end landed on the perfect video for once, lol
great video! good to see other faces.
Jon has always been my favorite at LMG
i was gladly suprised when i heared John start talking. Iit a nice change every now and then
I've been enjoying your content, thanks bros!
Could you please make a video on LPddr)
SUPER-interesting!!!
Thank you for confirming what I've tried to tell everybody no matter what you do they can always track your computer
he said always
/s
in theory we should say...
dukedurell ص
2:39 - it still tracks. a simple trick on a rooted phone is to disable service called GoogleLocationService (not GoogleLocationManager, which is needed for other apps like Glympse). another benefit is way better battery life.
The most disturbing thing that's happened to me was Facebook warning me that a person I know was passing by
Tunnelbear is the only logical sponsor for this video
The only time when tunnelbear is a relevant sponsor
Where's the link to opt-out with Microsoft?
What is the link to the Microsoft Opt-Out page? I could not find it on google.
With 4 access points, those creepers at Google etc even know which room i'm in.
When your attention span is so small, you even watch techquickie at 2x speed.
I'm joking. I have a fine attention span. I just watch everything fast. I even watch episodes I'm getting bored ofa at 2x or 1.5x speed.
damn i was thinking about this at the time of this video was uploaded as i was surfing the net
A GPS doesn't triangulate your position, it uses trilateration.
for the next subject, how compliling of a software works?
thanks!
how the microprocessor interfaces? and interface polecies
John wow long time no see
For android users out here's something you might not knew. Some already know.
If you're on iOs and have the Google Maps app try it as well, don't know if it works.
× Go to *Maps* (the Google app) then click on *Your timeline*. And boom you have all your location data. I can go back to 2016 and see where exactly I have been at any day, any hour and any minute. It collects the location data as long as your phone is turned on. It doesn't need WiFi or any internet data.
Francis
I just found out not so long ago, all my location s have been saved on Google for so long time i just don't care about it now. I am not that special to where I have to disable that
AS fast AS Possible suggestion:
what is the difference between a microprocessor and a microcontroller and where every one is used
This guy has the loveliest nerd-voice ever. I still can't decide if it annoys me to all hell or if I love it.
Jon is very smart!
Google is off by a few cities to me because I use a separate router for phones and my pc and I also have proxi
Telling Google, Microsoft, Apple and others that you "don't want to be tracked" is akin to telling an enemy sniper: "Here I am at this precise location! Please don't shoot me!"
What is up with the new loading circle on mobile youtube?
interesting!
I read the title as "Why Doesn't My Web Browser Get My Location Right?"
how the interfaces? and interface polecies
Like it how apple says they are the ones most concerned about your privacy yet they don't allow to keep the router out of location data bases.
Please explain APFS
4:48 when you’re pointing the wrong way for the graphics
I missed this videon and i have the Bell on
Phone notice: techquicky- how does you web browser know your...
*panic*
everything is so funny when you're tired.
Does a phone have to successfully connect to the wifi, or is it enough for the phone to see or to attempt to make a connection for the gps info to be transmitted?
Thank you! I don't know if I am more impressed or concerned.
Nicely done! Clear and informative, without excessive goofery.
good video :)
So how do I proxy through NASA’s deep space network, or show that I’m in Low Earth Orbit on the ISS?
remember when it was called Wardriving? I'm sure StreetView cars are wardriving for Googleplex
I checked google maps and while it was "creepily" close, it wasn't exactly my address. Good enough! I'm safe!
Hey Linus, I have a request for a tech quickie.
Could you explain PCI wifi cards including stuff like 802.11a/b/g/n ect, also going over blue tooth, and how laptops handle wifi and bluetooth connection?
I just looked it up the long reading internet stuff way, and found some conflicting information, and still not a very good understanding as to what I need to look for on a card, and why.
I can smell a use for TUNNEL BEAR.
We want linus
Where's the Linux ? He's the best
i would appreciate some sources to the mobile location technique that collects mac-adresses and sends them home
They also wardrive with Google Maps Street cars too, so they can plot out WAP's BSSID to gps cordinates
1:51 you missed NSA
You can also spoof your computer's mac ID
How does it track it if it's never been on Wi-Fi but always on wired
This should be regulated along the ISP's hunger for money
I'm pretty sure my web browser knows a lot more about me than just my location... but I've got nothing to hide, I was just "researching" lol!
PrimiusLovin it is not a matter of " nothing to hide" it's a matter of PRIVACY and FREEDOM!
Some people like anonymity on the Internet. Some go to a Facebook page with their full name and make dumb comments available for everyone to see. I mean use your fucking head. Information collected by a computer system isn't the same as a person looking at it. Even law enforcement needs a warrant to ask for call records from a phone company.
I can't find the opt out page for Microsoft, does anyone have the link?
I just checked and Google didn't even come close to pinpointing my location.
What is WPA2?
that sponsor transition doe
Is there a source that include all about privacy and how to totaly be anonymous? It's getting out of control how easy people get tracked
Keya Kinan Not to be rude, but why do people care so much about being tracked. I mean yeah, they make money by sending you ads based on where you are, etc. But is that necessarily scary?
Besides being a invasion of privacy for those who don't want to use tracking based software for their own benefit, it can be abused by hackers.
No devices security is without flaws.
It cannot be stopped...it is prophesied in The Holy Bible:
_" And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."_ Rev. 13:17

How coinbase know it plz help
microcontroller interfaces? I2C, UART, USRT SPI, ... etc.
TunnelBear ad starts at 3:45
Wow more than a minute of the fucking TunnelBear ad ! *That is some next level shit* !
Reupload?
a tech quicky on active touch styluses??
The site wigle.net has a public database of almost 400 million wifi networks with locations on a map.
That’s how it’s done? I always assumed that your isp links your home street address to your public IP address. The real way is so much more creepy.
The reason it isnt done that way is because your public IP address whether its the one for your computer or the one your router uses to connect to the ISP changes every so often, its called a lease. if the location tag was set up to the IP address than the servers at google would become incorrect so its easier to schlep the location info to a number that cannot (under normal setting changes) be changed.
oh tunnel bear, didnt expect that :^)
RIP Luke.
Why did I just get a notif?
yo Luke needs to come back
I had an iPod Touch 4G back in the days that has no GPS (advertised). When i traveled around, with even wifi disabled, i was able to see my position on the map. what kind of black magic was that?
2:26 Robot confimed?
IP2Location. Corporate and personal VPN makes this totally wrong though. My job outlaws office wi-fi. I literally swim in SPII (SSNs, etc) at work.
Chrome can bum off your phone if it is logged into the same account as your phone. Chrome really likes you to be logged into a google account.
You guys really shouldve mentioned background WiFi scanning on android. Just turning your WiFi off is not good enough.
He should host all the scary techquickies.
Lol at first i thought this was a super mario odyssy and saw how your bowser know your location
Lmao totally thought it was Linus till like 2 minutes in
