I think the problem is not that she changed or slightly modified her sound to try something new, like Daft Punk did with RAM in 2013, but rather that she elected to produce a very generic pop song with Max Martin that lacks substance as a work of art or personal expression. It's called selling out.
It does not happen to 'every' artist.
