What suprises me is that when they do get hit, when their vision is obstructed, when they do get big combos on them and even when they get countered its like its nothing for them. It doesnt even mess up their technique or balance and they just immediately move and fire back like nothing happened. They are definately not any amateurs. They are reaaaally good "amateurs".
I mean amateurs is just anybody who hasn't had a professional career - training for 3 weeks or 30 years. It's even worse in white collar events when lads of 12 weeks training get matched up against lads of 2 years training. Amateurs is rough sometimes.
So many people here misunderstanding what "Amatuer" boxer means. It means they don't get paid. Thats literally it. PLENTY of amatuers would whoop the dog shit out of a professional.
So weird to see a sparring session on youtube that consists of both boxers utilising what they've learned in a sportsmanship way The vast majority of videos is just "that dude called my chick ugly" fights
Excellent. I'm wondering if it's better for a shorter fighter to square up more? Even on the outside?. The guy in blue seems to be at a weight, height and reach disadvantage. He did awesome all things considered. He Landed a lot of left hook same time counters.
The comnent is old, but still i (try) to answer. If you are shorter, go inside him more, remove his advantage that is hes reach, you can see Myke Tyson trying to be always inside and close to his opponents, alot of them taller than him
Watching professional boxing is fun and there’s a lot of pageantry to it. It’s fun to watch with friends, however I like watching amateur sparring more in a way. It’s faster and cleaner, no corrupt judges or promoters, no obnoxious personalities. Also, if you’ve ever tried to box before you know just how exhausting it is to just constantly be on the defensive and then be on the offensive, the minutes feel like an eternity

really good boxers...
It's also pretty clear this is a friendly spar. Neither of these guys are shooting to kill.

Amateurs can be better than pro boxers
Amateur in boxing doesn't mean unskilled...
Pretty nice session, orange pants got the god head movement tho
He’s good all round :)
It's a mismatched game.
The guy with the white gear is smart. In 1:13, he blocks his opponent's sight with his left to surprise him with a right. Good stuff.
It’s called pawing. It’s basic stuff.
1:05 that was clean as shit 😨
Both guys are top class . Great to watch 💪
Orange shorts may as well go compete for the Gold Medal in 2024.
Brilliant crisp sparring! Very entertaining to watch and put slowmo on here an there
Agreed. I actually like watching amateur sparring on UA-cam more than some pro fights on ppv.

Lad in orange was a then 17yr old amateur.. Nico Leivars.
No way 17?, he was amazing
