- Psalm 151: The Departure of the Soul
1. O Lord, my God, when the hour of my crossing draws near,
With a heart that trembles, and yet trusts, I seek Your face.
2. In the stillness of twilight, I lay bare my soul,
A feeble vessel, weary from the storm of years.
3. Grant me, O Most High, Your gentle permission,
To shed this earthly frame, as the dawn bids farewell to night.
4. Let the Archangel, Saint Michael, ever mighty protector,
Be my guide through the shadowed vale, with wings of light.
5. As the stones of the earth reflect Your holy creation,
May the smoothness of pebbles guide my steps,And the strength of granite fortify my spirit’s flight.
6. The herbs of the field-sweet sage and fragrant lavender,
May their essence accompany me, soothing my weary heart,
For they speak of Your bounty, O Lord, and the peace of the land.
7. With each breath I take, I surrender anew,
For in life’s fleeting moments,
Your love has been my anchor.
8. Lord, grant me a swift departure, as a dove returns to her nest,
That my spirit may ascend, unburdened and free,
To dwell in the warmth of Your eternal embrace.
9. As the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky,
I will sing my final hymn, a melody of gratitude,
For You are my refuge, my strength, and my salvation.
10. Into Your hands, I commend my spirit,
With trust unshaken, with faith unbroken;
For the journey I take is but a step into light,
To behold Your glory, O God, forever in delight.
So let it be.
