Hey there, one of the Valkyrien Pirates devs here! We have actually been working on an update that adds some better AI to the ships so now they can chase you and circle around you specifically so they are a bit more alive than just the current circle patterns. also if your in a big enough ship, the pirates will auto-fire there cannons at you and theoretically you could have a crew too, but that is not a main mechanic quite yet :) Thanks for the feature, we hope you enjoyed it! EDIT: Ship AI is now out go check out 1.4.0!
@@TheLegodinosaur It is potentially possible, but the way friction works on land and sea I think may be different. I might look into it at some point however, could be interesting :)
Hello, the creator of the Terrain Slabs and Settlement Roads mod here 👋. The slabs are in fact mod blocks which means the mod does not work in vanilla 😢. Thank you for featuring my mods!
Another addition to the immersive sailing would be the Continents mod which basically inverts the terrain generation and oceans become the dominant biome to generate while islands and Continents of land dot the landscape between vast oceans.
@CERISTHEDEV Last time I installed that mod alongside the Continents mod I didn't notice a difference in the depths of the oceans. Perhaps it was incompatible with the terrain generation mods I was using at the time I'm not sure.
Yung’s bridges and Small Ships. Imagine trying to navigate a river and getting blocked by a structure made out of slabs (they are indeed quite blast resistant.)
@@isaacchillman11 Ah yes I love when he adds Farmer's Delight and Create and never touches either in the entire 3 hours LOL I do enjoy his down-to-earth deep commentary though
for the sailing part you need some decent world generation, because Minecraft oceans are more like big lakes than actual oceans, so basically you end up closing your ship inside it. Also Minecraft islands are very basic. I suggest using the continents mod so you can navigate freely in your world. It would also be nice if the mod smoothed the terrain a little because Minecraft default transition from beach to ocean is very fast and the islands look like pillars more than natural islands
@@salmonhippo9824 tectonic does actually give deeper oceans, in the case of cliff under a tree it gradually descends to the bottom, thats if you want to have a good looking ocean floor, with cliff under a tree the lukewarm ocean gets to y=-28
Thought on the "Satisfying Building" set of mods: I actually find the animations of A Good Place less jarring than the Smooth Particles animation. I'm just not used to seeing particles when I place blocks.
yeah i just hated how floaty they were, not really synced with the game worlds physics or timing, like why is a brick particle not falling to the floor as if its a chunk of brick?
@@sugarrookieart there's a configuration option that makes the particles the same as the ones that appear when you break a block, which IMO looks much better
Two mods I always love to use together are Iron's Spellbooks and Hexerei. The big reasons I use 'em together are, in order: 1. Both independently have features I like and don't really step on each-others' toes, largely covering different "aspects" of magic. It also gives me a reason to actually WANT to find a swamp. 2. The magic crafting system of Hexerei really helps provide a more "magic-adjacent" feel to the early game, and in a relatively balanced way for what it adds, whereas Iron's Spells & Spellbooks takes a while to get off-the-ground. 3. It will never NOT be satisfying raining FIERY DEATH from atop a broom on a pillager outpost, even if it's impossible to get them to stop spawning in the ruins... Really wish there was a way to actually disable their spawning from a destroyed structure, as much of a tangent as that is.
Can't swear by everything here but Valkyrien Pirates is my favorite addon to my Pirate World suite. It gave me a genuine experience of hailing another ship only to take canon fire instead of friendly hello and I went down and was able to look up as the twisted, burning wreck my ship fell around me in the water. Ain't no pirate mainstream game that'll give that Ikind of experience I'll swear to the seven seas. Really worth a try!
Hello, the creator of the mod here 👋 This mod is not for vanilla servers since it adds custom Slabs (and also uses some vanilla ones which might be why he was confused)
via romana uses a block tag to determine which blocks are valid path blocks, so you could make it compatable with terrain slabs simply by manually adding the slab variants of path blocks to the tag with a datapack / kubejs
i absolutely love these combination videos! i think it really adds a lot of entertainment value to your videos and i love to see which mods work together! please make more of these videos!!!
for the immersive sailing mods, I also recommend the one that enlarges the ocean x3 to its original size, which makes the ocean deeper and more realistic
The weather mods and the road connections are so nice! Especially the roads, as it makes your world feel a bit more alive and guide exploration if you haven't found a village yet and stumble on a road.
1:14 Correction: Countered's Terrain Slabs does not work on a server where you can join with vanilla, the player will also have to install the mod to join the server because new slabs (blocks) are added. The other mod mentioned, blooming biosphere, will work tho as it doesn't add new blocks.
those look like some fun combinations, great video. i would love a video with the most impactful or "ahead of its time" mods throughout minecrafts history.
When you play with physics mod pro and valkyrien skies, block placement on your ship might become inaccurate around big waves. Just turn off ocean waves or tune them way down and ur placement will become accurate again, then you can turn them back up for that awesome immersion! Happy sailing.
I just want to say I love seeing you post more again. Though, I'm not here to pressure you in any way, just to encourage you... I look forward to every video you put out.
another addition to the ambient mods, replace particular with effective! :D it adds some really cool features, including fireflies, screen shake when wardens/ender dragon roars, glow squids hypnotize your cursor, and the same splash effects!!!! :DD also! with the enhanced weather, i recommend better clouds :> as it makes clouds get overcast when raining
The resource pack that makes the End fog effect you showed recently is pretty much exactly what I was thinking for the AmpXtreme world gen mod for giving it the sort of encapsulated fov that makes it feel more Cloudpunk. I'd still want it to vary somewhat in density pattern per biome, but what's listed here definitely captures a lot of the feel you'd need, even if it would need some tweaking to really sell it. Aside remark; that literal first full-frame look at the fog mod is exactly the "fog effect" I dislike in a lot of games. That centered hill in the distance looked absolutely terrible, but that's hardly the fault of you, or the mod. It just needed more light diffusion at the top to be "realistic" and maybe more shadow toward the middle to indicate that it is a 'looming thing in the distance', though that's one thing I'm unsure would help. Possibly not. RTX physics, and their effects are complicated, though. That's not likely a problem that can be resolved with the current gen tech, let alone anything older. In saying all that about the "light physics" however, I do think that minecraft doesn't need to be 'realistic' to look good. Many of these light combos are good as small things put together, and also would look good unified in a pack. I hope to see some more inspired modpacks going forward that take not only the gameplay/progression into account, but also consider if the visual side of things are working, or not. As someone who browses for new packs every once in a while, it has felt a bit like there was a dry spell recently with the newer mod packs being weirdly focused on only performance/visuals, and not whether there should be some sort of "plot" or just quest oriented progression to the pack's reason for being. Which is fine because that's a lot of work in truth, but it really didn't feel like a demonstration of skill, or effort when a lot of the "mod packs" seemed to be dedicated to re-uploading slightly tweaked variations of the same thing, even on modrinth. 😅
The Incredible ambience portion could also make use of a mod called Wakes. Subtle water effect that leaves water wakes behind you when you swim or use a boat.
pretty sure you can actually get Rethinking Voxels to register the lantern as a light source, you just have to tell it that yourself (i personally don't know how)
with the valkyrien skies mod combination id recommend ocean worlds instead of physics mod because the physics mod waves are purely aesthetic and cant tilt your ship over
Tip, add create clockwork and create and some addons to eureka and vs to be able to make working planes, tanks, cars with real engines and if you use trackwork you also have tank tracks just have a look at tank tussle, a modpack for tank combat
Hey, I'm a veteran player (been playing since Alpha). I haven't played new vanilla in years because it feels like a badly modded Minecraft.
