Bayern asked for $45m up front for Lewandowski because they thought Barca would go bankrupt in 2 years, then came back to finish them off early by robbing them of another maybe $30m by eliminating them from the CL. Bayern really, really, hit Barca hard this time.
I dunno about that. Because even before the champions league started I think everyone, including their own fans, knew Barcelona wouldn’t beat Bayern. Ronald Koeman tried to tell Barca that they couldn't play the old way anymore. The modern game values pace and physicality. He wanted to bring the 4-2-3-1 to Barca, but they railed against it. He brought the 3-5-2 to help mask our defensive issues, but they railed against it. He developed Pedri, Gavi and Araujo, but they didn't give him enough time or money. Instead they couldn't wait to fire him, brought in Xavi and Xavi literally spent more on Ferran Torres than Koeman got to spend in three transfer windows combined. 50m+ on Torres, 60m+ on Raphinha, 50m+ on Lewandowski, 50m+ for Kounde, on top of Kessie and Christensen (Even with Araujo and Kounde were both healthy, Xavi would play one at RB). And we're still back in Europa League. I love Xavi, but it was too soon for him. Sane didn't even play, Bayern were stuck in neutral and still honestly should have won 5-0. Now it looks like the only trophy we'll have in FOUR YEARS, was from the man that President Laporta couldn't wait to fire.

I agree except for the pace and physicality. Koeman, van gaal both said the 433 leaves too much space on the flanks and in the midfield third because you only have 4 players there.
The 343/352/3412 and variations is a direct counter to 433 by basically having 6 players in the midfield. Pep does it in man city with inverted fullbacks and inverted wingers, ancelotti does it, even bayern does it. 6 players will always beat 4 players.
@@triggagottii2908 I don’t hate Xavi at all, but this is another element to the situation. Xavi said no at first and Ronald Koeman was literally the only Manager willing to say yes. Then, when Laporta arrived, Xavi said no again and Laporta basically admitted that if they had any other option, Koeman would have been replaced in the summer. Xavi waited until he knew they would spend money that Koeman never got to spend.

Which is surprising since alot of their players came from BL...which is a technically apt and fast paced.
That’s what happens when you have a coach that’s more worried about how many times you can pass the ball from side to side and keep possession rather then prioritizing their physical strength, health, mentality, and then slowly implementing tactics into it. To put it into perspective, they’ve got like 4-5 players injured and it’s not even Novemeber yet.

This is why I never get my hopes high with barca. The team looked so good at the beginning of the season but I knew deep down from past seasons to never get excited when barca looking good. I learned this lesson a couple seasons ago and now I can't get disappointed anymore. Saved me a lot of tears and frustration.

Imo the problem of Barcelona is that they act like they are a top3 club in the world without realizing that they are miles away from Bayern, City, Real. It's similar to Manchester Uniteds situation over the past years.
This starts at the top: Joan Laporta is signing players in the present with money from the future by selling media rights and so on. The club leadership doesn't face the truth which is that this club was missmanaged for years and the fact that their best ever player in Messi had to go because of his bloated salary. Also there were these horrible transfers like Coutinho, Griezmann, Umtiti...
They just need to look at Real... They buy Tchouameni, then sell Casemiro for 60M and trust in Kroos and Modric to mentor Tchouameni and look how good that is working out. Just smart simple moves...
But Xavi also has to be held responsible for this... it reminds me of the post Guardiola days at Barca: They got loads of possesion but so often they don't create any clear chances. And we don't even need to start talking about that defense... just horrible independently of who is playing there.
This club needs a real turnaround and that can only start by accepting that they are far of the top... they got some hope: Pedri, Gavi, Araujo and Fati if he can stay healthy are talents they have to rely on. They need to reestablish a winning culture and not throw around money without a plan

Very surprised seeing how good Barca were in the first half of the first match.. I would never have imagined then that they wouldn't make it out of the group...
Barcelona and Xavi in particular went downhill when they decided to get a new striker who's over 30...yes Lewa is a terrific striker but defenders can give him half a mile and not be worried because he's not quick...we cannot be a threat on the counter without Aubameyang who we sold which was dumb BTW...but I would've left too , the Dembele Auba Ferran trio defined our attack it was so fluid and had lots of pace and understanding between each other...it should've never been broker up if we were gonna sign a striker it should've be to pick up the mantle from Auba and not just boot him out after he's been good...I realised most if not all teams including Bayern today play the same against Barcelona, they press high and put pressure on Ter Stegen at times that panics but when they transition the teams sit behind the ball and close spaces forcing us to either cross only for it to be headed clear or try finding spaces only to lose it and be countered leaving busquets exposed along with a make shift defence...if we had Araujo beside kounde we could put even Ter Stegen up field and wouldn't have to worry about being counted cause nobody wants to 1v1 araujo and with kounde covering there's really little to worry about but we don't have a trusted CB pairing atm with even Andreas injured🤦🏾♂️
