Good day Justin; thank you for the informative content, and good luck to all that’ll be in the running to win the beautiful C5; thumbs up 👍🏼 to HPO; take care !
The hotspots are terrible and not that great of output because, (With about one whole exception) LED bulbs don't belong in halogen headlight housings. Likely blind everyone on the road even if you aimed them all the way down with the uncontrollable light scatter.
Hey H.P.O.> Longtime Fan here; been watching you & your channel since the C8 dropped - I just got a Vette C5 so Thank you for adding some C5 content this is Awesome.. looks great!
Use a modified 9012 bulb in place of the 9006, its nearly twice as bright and is halogen so the beam will be the same as the factory original bulb 9006 just much much brighter , just trim the long tab on the 9012 bulb and is fits perfectly and the electrical connection is exactly the same . Its a cheap upgrade that works.
I do apologize for asking so many questions but this is my 1st Corvette I've never owned a beautiful luxury fast car before so I wanna make sure she gets all the upgrades she needs to fit in with the style corvettes
Wow! Those really make a big difference, and much easier than I thought, are you going to do the inside? And your new rims really set off the bowling green paint job Great job 👍😎
Hi Justin. I enjoy your videos on the C5. Have you attempted to replace the under hood light with an LED light. I have an it will not work properly like the original halogen light does. So far no one has been able to solve this problem. I’m trying to find the remedy for this situation. Let me know please if you have replaced the under hood light with an LED. Thanks and have a great day.
hi, i noticed you only mentioned you switched out the low beams, when you press the high beams, does it still share the same bulb with the low beams being white? or is it different being yellow?
I bought the switchback bulbs you used and have no idea how you managed to jam those things in. On Lasfit site another C5 owner 2003 Anniversary edition says he is using these bulbs also. Tough time doesn't start to describe how these bulbs will not fit! They are at least 1/8 inch taller than will fit in my housing. Perhaps because these housings are notorious for melting from the Halogen bulb, you got yours to go in. I tried on both sides and they will not fit without some kind of modification, not even close. Amazon correctly says they will not fit, Lasfit told me that some C5 owners said they will not fit. I would think that from 1997-2004 these housings are all the same, so I have no idea how you forced those bulbs in. Maybe you should have covered that in more detail than "it'll be a little bit of a tough time" I'll admit you somehow got it to fit, I would have to grind an 1/8 inch off the top to get it to seat in the housing. I hope you pin this comment so others will know that more likely than not, this bulb WILL NOT FIT! But because I listened to you & a 2003 C5 owner's comment on Lasfits product page I have to send these too long bulbs back. Just thought I'd let you know that for most you are giving bad advice to use these bulb. Still have no idea how you jammed these puppies in that housing. Otherwise good video. I used Lasfit for the side marker in the same color as the lenses, they are bright and look great. Good company just wish their switch back bulbs were shorter.
I have the same issue as well, I got them in a weird angle so they were half in, but over time they just wiggled out, also the passenger led would flicker causing hyperflash on right turn signal, might have been defective bulb. Put back the halogen bulbs and they fit easy, but getting the Vette led super brightz which will fit!
I couldn't get em to fit either. Ended up going with JDMastar low-profile switchbacks that gave plenty of room to spare and still a lot brighter than stock.
Did you have to install the hyper flash module to have all the LED bulbs installed?? I know back in the day you had to have one for LED conversions. Just was wondering if LED bulbs now are designed differently to not need the flash module component.

That's one thing I wanted to address but I forgot to talk about! These LEDs use enough wattage that the problem with the headlights going down is not an issue with these particular headlights. 👍👍
Definitely! This is one of the only LEDs that won't have that issue. I really should have mentioned it in the video and I meant to but I totally forgot.
Why does Lasfit not show these as an option for a 2002 C5 Vette? Also Amazon says the LASFIT 9006/HB4 LED Bulbs 72W 8000 Lumens LS Plus does not fit a 2002 C5 vette. Seems strange they are not recommended for the C5 when they are about the only bulb that does not suffer from the "switch to high beam to lower the headlights" issue.
The links are right in the description below and you can see for yourself. I usually don’t include it because the prices vary and this video is almost 2 years old at this point so the price has likely changed.
I love yellow lights but I did change them to LED and my tail lights too where do you live? I need help I got one hand better Strokes kind years ago. On my third set of wheels third set of tires. I love to upgrade my fog lights. I've put 180,000 Mi on this tune up from the factory pretty good huh nothing's gone wrong so far. Bought the car for months later I have stroke
@@HorsePowerObsessed I used the Sylvania LED from Oreilly (I work there). The only problem I have had was the lights don’t want to close on low beam. Just flip it to high beam and it will close fine. I haven’t installed the resistor yet.
@@HorsePowerObsessed If you research how headlights work at all, you would know you're only screwing yourself out of good usable output by wasting light energy to blind people in their windshields, mirrors, and light up the trees due to the uncontrollable light scatter you get as a result of changing the focal point of the light source, instead of down and out on the road where you actually need it.
I found never driving my C5 at night to be a cheaper option.😅 I’ve never had to drive my Vette at night so I can’t see frying my wiring for nothing. I’ve never had any problems with my car in all the years I’ve owned it,so why should I ask for problems.🤔 If I ever want a upgrade I will buy a newer Vette, 😢and the problems you describe will be done.😜.
You're a lighting master. I've shown the LED rear hatch and license plate LED's to several C7 owners and gave them the URL's to your videos. I've also done so with regard to the black McGard lug nuts as well as the TMS sensor covers and valve stem caps. The lights, however, are the most popular.

Awesome 👏. Saved this video for my future C5 !!! Thanks !
Glad it helped!
Nice, looks great, I need to update my C7.
Thanks!
That's a great idea to get a kit. I did almost all of my Silverado SS with LED's. Toughest part was the a/c control panel. So much nicer now.
Agreed!
oh my, huge difference. look great
Thanks!
Amazing how much of a change a few leds make on an older car!
Agreed! It's a beautiful thing!
Right!
I wouldn't think of keeping the old halogens now.
Great video Justin. I need to do this to my C5 Z05. Thanks for the vid.
I highly recommend it. It feels like a new car now!
Great Video
Thank you!
C5 Corvette is underated on all levels esp. as a design exercise - C5 Vette is actually quite a beautiful car.
100% true!

Sombody (car manufacturer) needs to bring back the pop up head light design!
Agreed!
Niceee, my first corvette was a 99' c5 coupe
Nice 👍
I had a clear set I put on mine ,I don't like the look aeerodynamly when there up.I sold the doors + motor for almost as much as the new set.
I used to call the headlights in my dads C5 'bugeye lights'. That is until I drove his 2002 Z06 (First vette I ever drove. Legally that is. >;)
Looking great please send me the name of the company/package/ price for all of the lights thank.

I never changed out the underhood light. It SHOULD be ok, though. Does it work with a halogen for you but not an LED?
Great information. My C5 headlights are awful. Looking forward to the upgrade.
💯 first mod I’d do!
What about the high beams?
I couldn't find a bulb with a small enough fan assembly to clear the actuator arms. I just left the high beams stock.
hi, i noticed you only mentioned you switched out the low beams, when you press the high beams, does it still share the same bulb with the low beams being white? or is it different being yellow?
High beams were harder to replace due to the actuator arm being in the way.
