To continue the Irish Guy's point about Bournemouth's crazy new plan, Billy Foley bought an NHL Franchise in Las Vegas, a market that at the time didn't have a single professional sports team. Since the Vegas Golden Knights' inception, Vegas has gained a NFL team and a MLB team. His success creates ripple effects. If you're wondering about said success, he promised playoffs in 3 years from their inception, they went on to go all the way to the Stanley Cup Final. I can't stress enough how impressive this actually is. Then he promised a championship in six years from their first season, they won said championship in 2022-23, which was you guessed it, their sixth season. Bill Foley's word has never been more valuable to sports fans. If I was a Cherries fan and I knew just how relentless Bill Foley is when it comes to spending and making his projects better, I'd be as excited as I've ever been.

    • @dgold7
      @dgold7 10 місяців тому +1

Interestingly enough many NHL fans looked down on Vegas because they wouldn’t treat their players well in terms of always spending big and letting go of loyal players to make the money work. But in the end he did deliver on his promise and has definitely worked wonders for that franchise

Maybe it's just coincidence or great timing, but the Vegas Golden Knights happened as EXACTLY the right time. Oddly enough, every 50 years an expansion team makes the Stanley Cup finals in their first year. And 50 years after the last one, Vegas did exactly that.

@@JimTheFly I don't know if I'd say it happened at the exact right time for that reason, or because it was 1 year after teams signed SO MANY BAD CONTRACTS in free agency (seriously, the 2016 NHL Free Agency summer is legendarily awful), couldn't afford to keep some of their undervalued assets & Vegas was able to pick them in their expansion draft (guys like William Karlsson, Marchessault & others). Plus being able to take an elite goalie like Mark-Andre Fleury, because the Penguins went on back-to-back Cup runs with his young backup (Matt Murray) in net & they couldn't protect both, so they chose the young guy.

Note: One of Bill Foley's other teams, the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights, were created in 2017 & Foley said at that time that he had a timeline of being a contender for the Stanley Cup (their season-end trophy) within 5-6 years. They made the finals in their 1st year & made the final-4 in years 3 & 4 & won the Cup in year 6.

Amazing how different owning an American sports team is than a English football team
In America Boehly is viewed as by far the best owner in baseball
Took a team in massive financial trouble and the rival Giants were in the middle of a dynasty, first full season took the NL West and has won 10 of the last 11 division titles and is working on a record streak of four 100 win full seasons in a row
The Glazers are viewed as NFL success stories
Took the second team in Florida who had never won anything and was the worst franchise in sports, won them a Super Bowl, then rebuilt the team, signed the GOAT and won another ring
FSG are viewed as elite owners as well
Took a Red Sox team that hadn't won a title since WW1, and was dealing with a dynasty in their division, dethroned the Yankees, and made the Sox the only team with four rings this century
Kroenke is viewed as arguably the best owner in American sport with his success across multiple sports
Moved the Rams out of L.A. because he realized how tough it was being the second team in L.A., built such a good staff that made such a good team that they made a literal grocery bagger into the best player in the world and a Super Bowl champ instantly when they had never won a Super Bowl before
Then realized that being in a small market in St. Louis was significantly hurting the team compared to being the top team in L.A. so he moved the Rams back, rebuilt the team and won another ring
Got the Avalanche a Stanley Cup in his very first season and recently won another
Won an NBA title with the Nuggets who had never come close to a title before

i think Michael's given Palace a bit too much credit there. 11 seasons on and Palace's highest position was 10th. otherwise they have never even come close to breaking into top half, let alone any European competition. they have only contested a single cup final in that time. it seems like they're never far from a relegation scrap. the supporters have every right to be unhappy. in the time palace have been in the premier league, they've seen Brighton, Wolves, Southampton and even Burnley reach the Europa League. they've waited long enough for the tide to start turning and show some ambition.

Brentford should be way higher they have been selling their best players as long as I remember and have improved every season despite it. Even before selling the likes of maupay, Watkins and benhrama they fleeced Birmingham under harry redknapp for jota, dean and Colin for 10 mil which is incredible business on their part cuz they were shite

As a united fan, glazers are absolutely terrible and deserve to be bottom of the list. That would be the case if todd hadnt literally dropped chelsea from a champions league winning team to a mid table mess and potentially getting relegated for FFP. Im surprised the todd protests havent started yet tbh, I havent seen any movement against him.

You would put Mike Ashley 20th if he was still there, let's not fool yourself. You only put them 5th because of their money. Yes, I think they invested sensibly, but let's not kid, if they had bought superstars, you would have them higher. the project Newcastle are on looks sound, it should be higher than 5th. I would say: 1st: Sheik Man Saur 2: Amanda Staverley (she is the face of the club, I know that guy owns it is the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman). 3: Brighton owner.

I'm going to speak for myself regarding the Kronkes. They are still scum. They hung Wenger and Unai out to dry. Backed Arteta when he should have been sacked on several occasions and brought Edu in as Arsenal Director of Football. His recruitment record has been mediocre to put it lightly. To add insult to injury, they have zero ambition and wanted to join the Super League. I'd have them in the relegation zone, 18th, because the Glazers and Todd Boehly are even worse, somehow

Don't forget that FSG have gone cheap in the last few years and have held the club back for lack of signings.
You say Newcastle is being held back by FFP like that's a bad thing that will change. If so, don't witch and moan and groan about Man City breaching FFP then. Either it's good everywhere or it all sucks and needs to go and breaching it is not a problem.
