I have to applaud the filmmakers for what I see in the trailer. The production is sleek and professional, consistent lighting and the sound quality is solid throughout. More than the technical aspects, there's an awareness of storytelling here with a sly wit. I own several tiki-themed documentaries and while interesting, many of them are little more than clips of parties and talking heads randomly strung together and bookended by credits. This looks like it elevates the form.
First ever was in 1934 in Oakland that became eventually franchised to Trader Vic and invented mai tai . First Franchise store was in Seattle 1960, two years before the World Fair. It was VERY POPULAR
We are deep in the edit right now and still capturing some interviews. We hope to have the film completed by the fall and premiere shortly there after. We'll keep you in the loop. Thanks for asking.
