So Excited to see Alaphilippe stirring things up again. I’ve had a string of injuries like Philipe, so it inspires me to see him coming back on form. It gives me hope.
My day is complete when I see Mr. Horner's post for the day.
Agreed indeed, best coverage
Agreed.
The Best of the best
The Horner boys are the best! 🦋👊
☀️💤👊🦋
This was such outstanding racing today and SO good to see Alaphilippe his old entertaining self. ❤️
👊🦋
No one is safe from the nucklehead award, not even Chris himself haha!
Only a “knucklehead” leaves out the first “K”.
@@swisstopia Thank goodness for the "typo" police !
@@tomsmith1059autocorrect really let you down on that one!😢
No one 😂👊🦋
I was so sad for Julian not to get the win. Such an entertaining rider who has been destroyed with recent bad luck. Hopefully this signs his return
JA was motivated to win today because his boss Patrick Lefevere was present on the course (handing out bidons) 😂
Patrick does not even know how to properly hand a bottle out. I wanted to add it to the video but the race had so much to talk about already. 😂🦋👊
Looked like he was trying to hand out another one of his 'apologies' 😂
Darn you Chris, I didn't know buycycle existed, now I am wasting all kinds of time shopping for bikes. I already own 20+!😂
I got that problems also. 😂👊🦋
Maybe a show could be where you show all your bikes and the stories about them would be cool we love bikes love too yours!
Super seeing JA back at the front, Thanks Chris always
👊🦋💪
on a different subject, JONAS back on the road!! That's good for the sport and hopefully the TdF.
True that 💪🦋👊💥🤞🇫🇷
Been following Alaphilippe since 2015 when he won the Mt Baldy stage in the Tour of California and came in second at La Fleche Wallonne and so happy to see him lighting things up again. Sure hope this helps build his confidence and that he is returning to his old form. He needs to find a good contract for next year and to get far away from toxic Lefevere.
👊🦋
Solid. I was at that stage. The second from the final turn, at the top. Sagan :47 seconds. Got to meet Jens again. It was on; righteous event.
Dropouts today included the Israel Premier Tech riders who crashed on Wednesday and Lipowitx, who claimed illness. In other races, Cav won Hungary.
yea, Cav had a imprsiv Leadout train performance too , i am looking forward how they will perfor at the tour de France.
🥲🦋
@@tomdzikowski2261 if You have moroc, thats 70% insurance
Julian certainly has what the French call "panache". I like it when he is stirring up the hornet's nest in the peleton, I imagine his sponsors don't mind either.
Thanks Professor Horner.
👊🦋🎓
Homeskillet laying down the law! Thanks Chris for your accurate realization! Peace out!
Homeskillets 👊🦋
You nailed it again Chris thanks for all your time and work and you too Garrett
Thanks 👊🦋🙏
Okay Chris, you've been peddling buycycle at me for days, so I finally looked to make you happy. AND, I think i'm close to making a purchase! 😂😂 So, thank you! ; )
Everytime I hear him say The Chesterfield 😂✌
Pogi did good past two days. Didn’t waste any energy and didn’t lose any time. He’s pacing himself and the team well for a 3 week grand tour. Yesterday and day before was tempting but he stayed out. Great energy conservation! Now tomorrow and day after he can go all out before rest day. Good GC strategy so far!
Thanks for another great race analysis!
👊🦋
Sanchez was a big surprise, JA seems to be back in his old ways, great to see.
It is the first time I see you Chris miss a move or maybe you didn't consider it very important... but Pelayo and Loulou were close to crash in a roundabout and Platt tried to leave them, Loulou tried to close the gap but he couldn't DO IT! Then Pelayo catch up with Loulou and clase the gap with Platt... just in case you were in the wc😜😜. Magnificent as always👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤❤❤🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦
Yep. I forgot to add it into the video. 👊🦋
A steep bump! Thats funny Chris! Always enjoy your videos! Will you be joining NBC crew for TDF this year?
Great show Chris as always
👊🦋
That was some monster gear engaged when Sanchez hit the curb . Felt his pain getting it rolling again from a standstill. The bike seemed to twitch under the strain of it all. :).
Great review bud, 👍🚵♂️🥇
Fantastic show, as always. How about the in-depth show about breakaway tactics
Nice concise summary and analysis of today’s stage.
Thanks. There was a ton to remember. 👊🦋🙏
I see this in so many sports. Athletes and teams come back into form and get closer and closer, and finally back to winning. I feel like this could be the case for my man, JA, right now.
Thank goodness!!
👊🦋👊
Great coverage of the nice race dynamics in this stage!
Thanks 👊🍟
Oops 😂🦋👊
So good to see Julian truly contending for a stage victory and perhaps this was a little dirt payback for his crash at Strade a season or two ago. Go Julian, Go Wolfpack. 😀
I was pulling for JA today. TT tomorrow should be good.
Bring in the TT 👊🦋🔥
I watched the stage from start to finish and was really entertaining. In my opinion ineos wanted stage win and that's why they went hard on gravel sections, if you watche closely you will notice that Jonathan was always glued on Pogacar's wheel thinking he is going to do what he did at stge 1 even in the interview G mentioned it that they went hard thinking they might be some attacks mainly from Pogacar but it did not work out well.
Any non- spoiler commentary concerning Alaphillipe makes me nervous because with him a high ceiling can become high flying at any moment. Thanks for getting a lot out of a thankfully incident free stage.
I hope you give us a bonus analysis--even before the rest day--of the brilliant form of the winning sprint team of today's Tour of Hungary stage.
Will have to work on that 🤔🦋👊
If all goes to the script, the Giro over after the TT? More importantly where's the knucklehead merch?😂
Chris! Have you been watching Mark Canendish?
Not yet. But I do remember 2021 what he there. And after those wins 🔥🦋👊
Great stage.
🔥👊🦋
'gravel-stone'....aww, bless! :)
If Ineos put guys in the break, Chris would have said they broke the #1 rule and called them knuckleheads for leaving G 🤣
Never. Come on. G is not going to lose the Giro because Ineos put a rider in the break. They are going to lose because Pogi is far superior to every one here. So that means of course they should try to win the stage from a break away that could possibly put pressure on UAE. I surely have never ever said to pull Pogi around all day. Don’t be a knucklehead, best to delete this before your friends see it and I won’t tell anyone that you put this up. 😂😜🦋
@@ChrisHornerCycling😂😂😂
I’m a total novice on strategy and find your commentary really illuminating. Something I don’t understand yet is why have a leading breakaway from the peloton. Seems like they often get caught by the end of the race.
Breakaways get a Lot of screentime, thats why most small teams go into the break and also the reason why most of the time they get caught
Depends on the day and the composition of the break, some reasons are: 1, the riders want tv time for their sponsors, 2, they're a domestique who is sent up the road to do a job later when they get caught, 3, they're a rider who has no chance in the sprint (aka not a sprinter or puncheur) and therefore only have a chance to win from the break, or 4, they are a sprinter, and want to get ahead so the climbers don't drop them when the climbs start
@@drwhocrazedthank you!
@@user-yy5bp2qq9wactually makes a ton of sense, thanks!
The short answer. Those guys won’t win going against the best riders here at the Giro near the finish line. And sometimes it’s to put pressure on the race leaders team. But there is more to it than just those two points. 🤔🦋👊
Glad to see Alaphilippe at the front of the race. Can't wait for tomorrow's TT. Go Pogi! Will be an exciting battle because I think G Thomas will ride a great TT.
Right. The first super important show down. 👊🦋💪💥
Did you forget to turn the camera on too? 😂
Thanks Chris...Rage fan ? Papillon
Is "gravelstone" a thing in cycling?
No. That’s just me thinking too fast and getting a hundred stories in my head all out in twenty mins. Gravel would be the correct term or white roads of Italy 🇮🇹 😂🦋👊
Chris, can you explain why you suggest Ineos should break the number one rule here and put guys in the break?
Yes. At this moment we can all agree that Pogi is the best in the race, and the be all end all favorite in the race. Which if you believe that and you are Ineos then you got to start thinking about taking stage wins and adding some pressure on Pogi when ever possible so his team have to chase hard. I see the how the # rule gets a complicated here but it really may help more then hurt G if Ineos could get UAE riding all day long. Now the rule gets really tricky when we get into the mountains let’s say and Ineos had no one with G at all like Jumbo did to Jonas in the TdF 2021 many times. They would put Sepp, Wout, and Stevie up in the break and Jonas had just one Mike Tuenissen with him (because every one else had already dropped out of the race) and Mike got dropped right away so Jonas was alone. If Jonas flatted or crashed then second was completely gone. That’s was Stage 15 2021 TdF. That’s when Jumbo broke the #rule. 🤔🦋👊
@@ChrisHornerCycling Thank you, sir! As I suspected, there are exceptions to every rule: maybe "Never leave your race leader - unless you've got more to gain than to lose by doing so" (like You're racing against Pogacar 🤣😂👊🦋😁😏)
Wait the only knucklehead today was CHRIS because he forgot his mic?? Lol😂
Why not mention patrick lefevere giving a bottle to JA? The Moment of father and son 😅
😂👊🦋
Considering Pog later stated that he was not looking for a stage win and would have been happy to give up the Maglia Rosa, I was surprised that UAE was controlling the race and neutralising breakaways so much in the initial stages.
No knuckleheads today - they must be watching!
I even thought in the past that Alaphilippe would be a contender for the tour but my expectations were too high
😂 forgot the mic😂
So funny. Now I know why NBC literally paid a person just to check and place the mics on us each day. 😂🦋👊
Watching the Australian coverage, Gracie Elvin was the former pro on the commentary team. During the last 10 km, I heard her note that Ineos was right to push through the final gravel stage but she was worried that they were just dragging Tadej to the front towards the end. I thought this was exactly what Mr Horner would say. Maybe not knuckleheads but not ideal.
Plapp really was the best thing to happen to Team UAE. Can’t wait for the TT shakedown
👊🦋
Maybe you could do a show about your bikes and see them and tell stories about your bikes
Were Geraint Thomas's comments about the Butterfly Effect?!?! I saw his criticized those who don't like the Ineos tactics!!
I think he was referring to Lanterne Rouge slamming them on stage 2
@@patrickgregory1187 Ok, good!
Could be. I said the exact same thing. I still stand behind what I said 100%. You don’t pull Pogi around unless it’s second that you want. He’s a 38 year old knucklehead for arguing that one publicly. But who knows maybe G drops Pogi some time later and then says I told you so. But who would you bet on that happening. 👊🦋
@@ChrisHornerCycling Agreed sir!
We need the "Knucklehead" official cycling merch!
@@ChrisHornerCyclingG is struggling and I don’t think he will drop pogi in this giro 😢he will only lose minutes to pogi
Alaphilippe is still mad about the whole freedom fries nonsense we gave the French a hard time about.
😂😂🦋👊🍟
Good to see Chris being honest and admitting to being a knucklehead.
Garrett stoped me mid sentence, I looked over at him and said what, that was almost perfect. Then he pointed to the mic. I had even turned it on. 🎤 😂🦋😂👊👊👊
I think the peleton and especially Ineos sense weakness in UAE and Pog tried to cover it in the interview saying they did not mind if Plapp got pink and thats why Ineos closed the gap. I think Pog so good a weak UAE is not going to help
I can’t wait to see how the mountains go. But right now UAE just have to control Ineos because certainly they will ride for second. 🤔🦋💪
Quello che non capisco è perché non lasciare andare subito una fuga, ovviamente non numerosa, invece di ottenere lo stesso risultato dopo un'ora a 53 km / h cercando di non far scappare nessuno??
All the teams want into the break on this stage except UAE and Ineos (not very much anyways), so it’s not UaE bringing back the break each time it’s other teams unhappy because they missed the attack so it gets brought back time and time again from each different team. Then finally all the teams that missed the 7 rider break are too tired to bring it back again. And then it’s gone. 🤔🦋🔥👊
presque ! good effort from julian , good show from the french today , good racing ,belles echappées ,it gave chris a job ! motormouse ,have a drink .🥵poggy can kiss ineos for the work ! safe pinky ! will he loose it tomorrow ? no ! bravo sanchez bravo chris! 🦋 njoylife

Alaphilippe wasted the energy good enough for two complete stages... Good to see him back, but it's still brains that win races.
Wait a minute. I just watched the highlights of the stage and unless I missed something JA didn't win? Haven't watched the video yet, but from the title it seems like Chris might be two timing Wout here?
If he had won after racing so hard from km zero to finish, questions would have been raised while he himself would have raised to the next level of “cycling immortals”.
That said, the effort will hurt and he’d better take the next few days as cycling holidays.
🦋👊
Chris, Pelayo didn't pass to the front in the last miles, didn't that make a difference for the end? was that over-crafty? In my opinion, the face of Julian Alaphilippe watching Pelayo is more of "I can´t believe you did what you did, no honor in that. But, I may be wrong, so what ever you say I go for it, you´re the man of the experience here.
Chris why dont you do podcast type of video, Just go live and talk about these things with Garrett or someone else while answering few questions from the chat. With you expertise even small talk will be a content for us.
That would be fun. We have thought about doing some extra for Patreon subscribers but it’s a time issue still. 🤔👊🦋🕰️
@@ChrisHornerCycling good to know that it was already in the process. Just go live in the youtube without any extra preparation for a few times. With your knowledge just a simple unscripted video will be a hit...
what about Honore'? If he didn't ride like a knucklehead, then who is?
May the force be with you Geraint... The force of tail wind. Please Geraint you are our only hope.
We better look to later stages now that I seen the out come of stage 7. 🥲🦋🤞
Alaphilippe got mad at molano because he threw an acceleration when he was getting a bottle from the team car
👊🦋
Seriously, are you his agent?
Please, do not whine about Pogacar. He is tactical. I know you never heard of it.
Plapp is tactically inept
Hehehe. He’s young but you are right. 😂🦋👊
Knucklehead count: 1
Exactly. Ineos are ranking up knucklehead moments but UAE have a few also to almost even it out. And Pogi can smooth out or hide just about any knucklehead moment. 😂🦋👊
Maybe it was for you Chris;)

Like Julian Alaphilippe. Glad he did well today. I was hoping he would get the W. Thought he was going to hit the curb.
Glad UAE was chill most of the race.
Would like to see Ganna get the W in the itt.
Ganna must be thinking about that tt. He did some work today but nothing like we would normally see from him. Save it 👊🦋💪🇮🇹
A little steeper finish and JA wins,
JA looked smoked to me at the finish. But I got to agree a little with you cause if you asked me further out from the finish I would have said, at times each of the three riders seemed bad and I just thought to myself, why doesn’t JA just win the sprint. Now I know. 😂🦋😂👊

Attack Attack 🤣🤣🤣😜🔝❤️
Most everyone thought Pogacar was going to attack on the dirt trails of this stage and UAE were neutralizing the large breakaway moves, so Ineos set a hard pace through those sections to discourage attacks. Pogacar himself said the pace Ineos set was hard, If your Pogacar and you are in a reduced peloton with teammates at the back of the group and you see 4 Ineos riders pacing hard right in front of you it has got to discourage you. In my opinion if Ineos hadn't paced hard Pogacar would have attacked and chasing down Pogacar is the last thing Geraint Tomas wants to do the day before the time trial. I thing Ineos was near perfect on this stage.
That would have been good for Ineos to have Pogi waste energy rather than sitting back and getting a free ride before tomorrow’s TT. For sure Pogi was never scared. Not once, not even a tiny little bit, when I was the best rider in the race did I ever worry about some team riding on the front for me. 🤔🦋💪👊
Attacking me if I thought my team might explode did however worry me often. 👊🦋
Call me a hater, but whilst it was a great performance from julian it also shows he is somewhat past it. At his peak he would have won this stage. Now i would love to see alaphillipe back at his very best. I just dont see it happening.
I love being disappointed by French riders!

I don't think Pogi looks 100%. seen him leaving some gaps and his interview was less than convincing.. hasn't looked like the dominate Strada Bianca Pogi..... the ITT will tell
