Seeing that there are better ways to make Buldak: but to maintain review objectivity or something, we strictly prepared every noodle according to the package directions!
Indomie...
So can you please check the buldak package instruction again? Before trying to defend yourself.
it says “stir-fried ramen” on the packet, its meant to not be eaten with water mixed into the sauce packet
We demand a retrial. 😁
@@an19chidefend himself?? LMAOA ITS RAMEN??
You guys really did the Buldak dirty by preparing them like a soup. The directions clearly indicate you have to drain all the liquid before applying the flavorings and extras. They should be glossy and thick-coated, not soupy. I demand a redo.
Exactly same with the maruchan creamy chicken thats what makes it creamy, if you add a bunch of the water it just makes it soup.
Botched by Babish.
I agree with draining, but they can leave a bit of water for a but more creaminess
literally. it ruined everything
YES!!! I've seen this with the Neoguri! Btw, serious qious question: Is the Buldak spicy? My spice tolerance level is quite mild (like, Neoguri Mild level for the Chappaguri), but I can stand a sweet-spicy with a big glass of milk...
I'm noticing a distinct lack of indomie
which are no doubt the best noodles

A shame. He missed out.
Also the Ichiban Yakisoba, which is probably the best out of the Ichiban flavours
Idk ive noticed lately that the quality of their noodles took a hit. Im guessing to cut costs

That's almost definitely what was making him think that, too. Power of suggestion is very strong, even when we dont realize it.
It's a crime that Neoguri, Prima Taste and Indomie are not included. Those are top tier.
For the buldak carbonara you're supposed to boil for 5 minutes, and throw away all but 8 tablespoons of the water to add to the flavor powder to get a creamy sauce.
Just to make your life easier, friend, 8 tbsp is exactly a 1/2 cup.
Only because I'm picturing you measuring out 8 of those little tablespoons of water when making it xD
Add a slice of American cheese, shredded rotisserie chicken and chives. It’s absolutely delicious!
Adding sesame oil really rounds out the strong spicy packet too. Also yes, as soon as I saw this I was like there is no way this is pckage instructions

Andrew: The broth...
Me: The wat?
Okay but can talk about the lack of MAMA noods???? Like c'mon.
I didn’t know that existed. Regardless, I expected samyang as well so idk
MAMA destroys any other brand when it comes to actual ramen (noodles in a broth). both the texture of the noodle and the flavour of the broth. the green curry one is pretty next level. Shameful that after spending so much on noodles that he didn't even mention MAMA.
As a Korean I have to tell you, you actually got the worst Jin ramens you could get. Mild is actually the best Jin ramen and its the only one Korean households would stock. Shin ramen also have an extra spicy range(spicier than black) which is nice as well. They also have a non fried version which is half the cals so you could eat them daily if you really wanted.
I’m not Korean but I agree the Mild flavor is the best
What about the mild flavour makes it better than the spicy one? I've only ever tried the spicy flavour.
So if you double check the package on the buldak noodles they are actually meant for stir fry, so the sauce is suppose to go directly on the noodles which makes them so much spicier!
Yep. He included Buldak but excluded Mi Goreng (which is inconsistent), then made the Buldak incorrectly. Surprisingly low QC on this episode.
Yes. You can clearly see how much liquid is in those bowls. He claimed they were making according to directions, but clearly not.
Think they cooked almost all the buldak noodles wrong by cooking it like a soup the flavours are all diluted... think a rematch is needed. :)
I hope he sees this comment so he can eat it correctly!
@@BuildinWings buldak is ramyeun which is closer than mi goreng
As an Asian American, Shin Black is relatively pricey but absolutely worth it every now and then. Terrific, complex broth for instant ramen. Shin Red is an affordable staple.
Agreed.
black is the only instant I've had that I look forward to chugging the broth after the noodles are gone
@@timneedham8267 Mothers Milk, that. Shin Black is the Rolls Royce of instant Ramen. It may be a bit pricey, but I can get a 4 pack, locally in Seattle, for around $7. Honestly, for 4 meals, I'm cool with paying that. Still cheaper than eating fast food, or most any other options.
I'm literally going into the kitchen, after typing this, to make some Shin Black. A little Kewpi mayo, garlic, soy sauce, salt, pepper, spring onion, poached egg, sesame seeds, and some Chili Crisp to top it off. Heaven in a bowl.
Since I discovered Shin Black, it's been hard to go back to anything else.
I freaking love Shin Black. As far as packaged Ramen goes, it’s at least a 9 imo
Please do not promote BetterHealth, they use unlicensed therapists which can get very offensive in an unprofessional manner
they sold users information from 2013-2020
Here’s me in disbelief that Shin Ramyun Black wasn’t 10/10, that stuff is genuinely incredible
Am i the only person who prefers red?
after reading other comments, seems like it's time to wait for botched by babish: buldak
Im starting to wonder if I got a bad package? To me it just tasted really bitter and spicy. No actual flavor.
Babish: “Buldak if thats your double spicy that don’t impressin me much”
Babish, 25 seconds later: “I’m sorry Buldak double spicy I wasn’t familiar with your game”
"Kansas don't know how to do no hot wings."
Fun fact, it's way, way hotter if you prepare it properly by following the package instructions. I can't handle the 3x after stir-frying it, but I have zero problems when watering it down a bit. Shame he tries to gaslight people by saying he followed the package directions though when clearly he didn't. But then again, he did pick BetterHelp as his sponsor so that shouldn't be surprising...
He was supposed to take out the water before adding sauce and some ramen whoever cooked it should of added less water since it can dilute the flavor
@@LordDragox412try it with cold noodles. You can taste the noodles better that way.
That stuff is evil 😂
Clearly, there was no Asian around during production to instruct them how to properly prepare instant ramen
I can't believe you like the Top Ramen noodles better than Maruchan, I feel like that comes down to nostalgia somewhat because I am the exact opposite and I grew up eating Maruchan.
Hi Andrew, as a Korean-American, the Jin ramen comes in spicy and normal flavors. If the label is blue, it's normal. The red packaging indicates that it's spicy.
Edit: The Buldak noodles aren't meant to be eaten like the other ramen. You're supposed to drain a little bit of the water out and mix the sauce in then.
My favorite
Jin mild is delicious

Indomie is meant to be a stirfried noodle, not a soup. I agree that it's probably better but they're different categories.
@@mistertestsubject there are indomie noodles as soup, although not as popular as their stir-fry counterpart
@zephylest2218 I'm sure there are, but for the most part they're known for their stirfry style noodles so it wouldn't really be a worthwhile inclusion
their noodles are trash quality
Sapporo Ichiban Beef being lower than top ramen is crazy.
Agreed! Ichiban is so much better than top ramen, I was surprised by his rating.
I can't believe there aren't more comments about this. I 100% agree that Sapporo Ichiban is way higher than Top Ramen...Also, personal feeling...Sapporo Ichiban > Top Ramen > Maruchan :x

Yes, the one with the black garlic oil is wonderful.

As a Japanese speaker, Andrew saying tonkAtsu as opposed to tonkOtsu drove me a little mad. Tonkatsu is a fried breaded pork cutlet, not a ramen broth!
That's almost criminal the way they made the Buldak.

The fact that Indomie was not included is an absolute crime
indomie is the GOAT
Ramen is Japanese noodle dish with broth. Indomie is Indonesian instant mi goreng. Maybe that's the reason? He shouldn't have called instant noodles as ramen. That's just dumb American
The man lacks culture.
it's ok, they would make mie goreng into a soup
Uncle Roger puts leg down from chair.
the stew buldak would have made more sense to be included in this ranking since it actually has the noodles in a broth. the noodles are also thicker.
The tastes like “a human chicken” really almost made me burst out laughing in my quiet office
As a Korean, I disapprove of how the Buldak Series were prepared. It's all water discarded from the noodles (just enough to keep the noodles damp, not wet) before the sauce and the flakes. Then eaten.
Don't care. Taste better with the broth.
@@LatinaCreamQueenhorrible take, just say you can’t handle the spice
I prefer most all my instant ramen to be semi-dry. I dont drain the water, I just boil in much less water than normal, so that noodles absorb most of the water and by the time it's poured into a bowl and cooled enough to eat, there's only a slight bit of water/soup at the bottom. Way more flavor for noodles that way.

We (myself, wife, and 5 kids) go through about 10 packs of Buldak noodles a week at my house lol. Glad to see other people in the comments enjoy them 😊
I gotta agree with everyone, the Buldak should’ve had way less water. Though, I would put those in their own category anyways since they’re more of a stir-fried noodle, and I still think they’d be beat out by Indomie (if featured.) Best highdea I’ve ever had was putting some kewpie, corn, fresh squeezed lime juice (and some zest,) and cotija on the 2X spicy Buldak. Basically elote ramen 🤌🏽
If we’re going ramen with broth, Shin Black is probably my favorite that’s available in pretty much every grocery store around.
As an Asian-American who is verrrryyy familiar with all kinds of ramens from different parts of Asia, not just Japanese: Shin Black is my gold standard for soupy ramen, Mi Go Reng for the king of stir fried ramen, and Buldak for spicy/creamy ramen.
There’s SO many more instant ramens that weren’t covered, just check out Hmart. I honestly don’t even consider Top and Maruchan 😬 I said what I said.
Top Ramen and Maruchan have been in regular American grocery stores for almost 50 years. No way could they be left out of this test.
Pretty spot on, Shin Black is great but Shin Red is great for the value.
So you’re Asian taste buds are better at tasting?! Gtfoh

Thank you so much for Hmart!! I'd never heard of this and I love trying out new ramen!!
Your chefs failed you serving you "Stir-Fried Ramen" with soup. The "stir-fried" versions require you reduce the liquid then add the sauce and spice packets to get the proper stir-fried noodle experience.

For Buldak (and other brands of stir fry style instant noodles), you're supposed to drain most of the water (leave a ilttle) then mix in the sauce packet. It's a stir fried style noodle, not a soup/broth based noodle.
Note that cup noodles ( the cheap stuff in every company lunchroom - lol ) is better this way as well. Drain nasty broth, just eat the noodles after adding some pepper.
The first two soupy Buldaks made me upset… when I checked the time stamps and saw the rest of it was just Buldak and they were going to keep making it soupy… I wanted to cry.
he really liked it anyway though they were basically his highest rated brand in the whole video
Watchin this while eatin a local asian family made ramen really feels like im eating a luxury meal
Its brandless with family recipe sauces together with like those regular plain ramen/pan mee packs
I've got a packet of Buldak "Rosé Extra Creamy"in my cupboard that I'm looking forward to trying.
After I started eating Shin Ramyun I can't go back to Maruchan and Top Ramen (I also like other brands than Shin Ramyun and other stuff Nongshim makes, but that was what made me no longer able to eat cheap ramen.)
It's a little unfortunate really. At least it's still pretty cheap, even if not so much relatively compared to the actual cheap ramen.
@@Falllll yup. It's the noodle texture. Those noodles spoiled me.
Yeah, it's still usually under $2 per package (closer to $1 sometimes) but compared to ones that I can get for less than 50 cents per package it's expensive. Also, compared to those it tastes SOOOO much better and if I'm going to eat so much salt that I shouldn't have anything salty for the rest of the day, I want it to be tasty.
@@CreativityNull if you're able to buy in bulk, you generally can get pretty close to $1/package in my experience. And I agree, if I'm going to eat something unhealthy, I want to enjoy it.
Maruchan 3x cheaper than Nissan ramen
Cheapness my beloved
@@FalllllCostco sells an 18-pack case for $16, and the Asian markets are about the same. And it's a big package, at 4.2 oz, where Indomie is only 3 oz and without soup you're basically forced to double up on it to make a meal.
28:35-36:52 I feel violated as a Buldak consumer
.
We have the same chopsticks! My mother actually gave me mine for my birthday. Cheers Babish!
Growing up (MANY decades ago, my favorite was the Pork Top Ramen. Very rare (at least around here) to find it now.
Made every Buldak “stir fry ramen” as a soup ramen. Think you should redo it according to “package instructions”
Better Help have got this man chained up in their dungeon
People are saying it is a scam but I couldn't find anything from the top sites.
Anyone got some solid more recent stuff?
@@EeveeRealSenpai First google search result showed me:
"The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced a proposed action against the online therapy service BetterHelp, Inc. for mishandling consumers' private health information, particularly regarding mental health issues, and using it for advertisement purposes.
This landmark decision surrounding the recent BetterHelp controversy requires the company to compensate affected consumers with $7.8 million and prohibits the company from sharing sensitive data with third parties for ad retargeting.
This initiative marks the first time the FTC has provided restitution to consumers for the breach of their health data privacy."
@@EeveeRealSenpai just look up horror stories of ppl seeking therapy from better help "therapists"
@@EeveeRealSenpai basically BH was onboarding self identified therapists. Like above, there's some absolute HORROR stories about some things said to in-crisis persons
Or he's sitting on a beach sipping ramen broth and spending their money.
Welcome to late-stage UA-cam.
I'm surprised you rated the Buldak as high as you did, but im happy you did. I absolutely love them, as I have a thing for destroying my tongue and my insides. But I'm surprised you rated them as high against more traditional Ramen
Love your work, keep it up
17:31 You have to drain a bit of the water (and I personally let the noodles sit for a moment before draining) so that the powder clings to the noodles more.
Heres a wild idea. Babish taste tests dehydrated backpacking meals! Not really on brand but I'd love to see his reactions to them lol.
Lolz 😂 tortured by babished
I've never seen someone eat instant ramen so aggressively that they bite their chopsticks 😂
I thought he was trying to mix in asmr into his videos
CHOMP/CLICKITY!!!🤯🤯🤯
homie always be clacking his teef on his utensils. almost as much as he yaps
Top Ramen Shrimp is the preferred for my household. (Marylander) I ad a lot of spices (and Old Bay)
If it says stir fried on d package , I'm pretty sure you're supposed to drain most of the water , then put the flavor packagings in and mix well...
4:18 'Why don't you come sniff my spice rack and FIND OUT!' is a level 10 provocation, well done
Please break your better help contract
The buldak 2x isn’t meant to have broth. You strain all the water and add the flavouring. Makes it super spicy
the big ramen bowl at the end. I'm high and Italian but I really wanted to put a big scoop of ricotta cheese in that
Of course, if you don't follow the stir fry instructions on the Buldak, it's not gonna be a stir fry.
But it will be much less hot, which is probably why he did it this way and is trying to gaslight people by saying he totes followed the instructions on the package...
@@LordDragox412 But he still gets surprised by the heat, and ranks them at the top, so your problem is?
@@dmpenfold4536 The problem is him doubling down on "we strictly prepared every noodle according to the package directions" in the comments. The taste is completely different if you leave too much water and skip stir-frying. You cannot claim to "maintain review objectivity" and prepare something incorrectly, no matter the end results. Of course nobody would be annoyed over the fact if he just admitted to being wrong. But nope! Guess he learned about doubling and tripling down from BetterHelp.
"Or you need someone to talk to..."
So they legally had to add this, didn't they?
Seems that way. A lot of UA-camrs are under contract to make ads like these. Hopefully they'll ditch them once it runs out.
I DEMAND A BULDAK REDO IMMEDIATELY!!!! they aren’t supposed to be soup!!
I need a sequel video titled Ranking X Kinds of Instant Noodles: Buldak Redemption

Ambivalent means you have mixed feelings (think: ambidextrous)
Apathetic means you don't care about it.
Came here to say this lol
Personally I would use indifferent here since it feels more about lacking enthusiasm. Like "I'll tolerate it", whereas apathetic feels more like "I'm not interested in it". But that's just me! Language is fuzzy
Hear me out: ranking every flavor of hamburger helper.
i need to see that
