    Hello from Michigan, my father taught me the art of sharpening on a wet stone years ago, that's not to say I'm an expert by any means. Later I bought the Lansky system and now at 63 I purchased a Ken Onion Work Sharp. I'm happy with all 3 but in researching I came across your video's which I've enjoyed. I may pick up one of your sharpeners as they would be perfect for away from home, hunting, hiking etc., thank you!

    Love me some Buck!! Good price, well made in the USA and guaranteed for life!! They get the most out of 440C possible! I have a had knives since I was a kid and the Buck 110 was one of my first "good knives" I could afford and am now 66 and still have it! I have many sharpening systems and a few of yours. It definitely has a learning curve but once you get it , wow. Such a small system that will always work. Can't understate the light touch to finish up!

    Very impressive! Your sharpeners obviously work! Going to definitely buy one! Also wanted to say that the abuse you initially put on that knife and it still stayed somewhat sharp shows that Buck Knives knows how to make a Knife and properly harden the steel! And some people say 420HC is not a good steel! Your video proves that wrong!

    I do the same thing. Every time I buy a knife I dull it and resharpen it just to see if it will get a better edge. So far all the bucks I have take a razor sharp edge without having to work my ass off. Buck knives might not be the best out there but they definitely are razor sharp. Thanks for sharing and God bless 🇺🇸 Oh yeah I forgot to say the buck 110 is my favorite folding knife and I have over 30 LOL

    I got got pretty decent at sharpening knifes . Untill today I thought that I could sharpen anything . Today I ate my words. I tried to sharpen a kobolt line splitting knife . It had alot of use on it . I never could get it to even start to get a edge . It is a very strong steel with like %5 of cobolt in it . I even used my v-sharpe on my sharpe and spark.
    Any suggestions ? I hate to feel I couldnt sharpen it . Hardest steel Ive ran across.

    • @bradbuckner9496
      @bradbuckner9496 3 роки тому +2

      That is natural. You can’t make 100% smooth surface with a corner sticking out there. You have to use 100% flat surface like a five or 6000 grit diamond HONNE to get rid of what you’re looking at. But I find, the cutting edge works perfectly well for me. Thank you for watching

    • @stormnordnes1189
      @stormnordnes1189 3 роки тому +1

      @@bradbuckner9496 okay.. But its only wen going with the v-noch first.
      I like to try out things, so I have a few knives to spare, so I try to make them as dull as I can get them.. Cutting into concrete, steel and just finding a natural rock to really make the edge bad... Like totally taking the edge of them, with full of bad spots.. So, I first need to run them trough the v-noch, then try to go with the open face carbide.. It makes them really sharp, but not verry nice..
      On edges that dull normally its another story, they just look like new and material I take of them is just verry fine dust...
      English is not my main language btw🤣👍

      Hes just talking about the grit pattern. Sanders knife manufacturers use leaves perfect straight grit pattern to the edge because the belt runs perfectly vertical against the edge. Obviously pocket sharpener cant do that, but its fine because it doesnt need to be perfectly straight. The patter he leaves is basicly in the direction how he moves the sharpener

      He makes it look easy, slow down and develop muscle memory, or at least a feel for the angle and the motion. Chances are you hit a wrong angle and take the edge off by accident. It happens when you are learning. Buy a cheapo knife your willing to trash and practice. you can even mark the edge of your blade with a Sharpie and check to see what you are hitting and missing. Then you can speed up like Mr Buckner 👍 dont give up!

      @@keithl2110 Thank you. It's hard to believe a person can watch my videos and still, cut the edge off their knife. 10 deg. Not 20. Simple.

      @@bradbuckner9496 Mr Buckner you are welcome! I bet they try to match the secondary v edge not the bevel not knowing knife terminology. I also think people are dazzled by how fast, easy and smooth you are with it. Not keeping in mind you have been using them for decades so they are not going to be quite at your level out of the gate. When people sharpen too fast the angles change because you sacrifice control for speed. Muscle memory to hold or hit 10 degrees in your joints and sockets and still move them takes some practice to be consistent at speed. Like knife skills.. I did see the Elk in that picture and Have a Great Day!

    If you have expensive knives, I highly suggest you learn to use a whetstone or get a Spyderco sharpmaker or something. You can put an edge on it that looks and functions better than the one it came with.

      MY sharpener works really good on any kind of knife made except ceramic. Your sharpeners are not exactly pocketable. I leave mine in my pocket at the airport. Put it with my change and keys. pick it up on the other side and go on with my travel. I can sharpen fingernail clippers with mine. Maybe not so easy with yours. I sharpen gut hooks with mine. Not so easy with yours. You can sharpen with anything you want to that's ok. My little pocketable sharpener works on 55 different kinds of tool, knives, and different things. Will yours do that. I HAD one that was stolen that was 32 years old. Worked perfectly. Oh, and if U happen to drop your stone on a hard surface, TELL us all what is likely to happen. Oh, and maybe it was $60 stone you can be very proud of. And maybe ( now ) u have ---3 stones, none of which are any good now. With mine, most likely---nothing will happen. I am talking nice. I am just saying. Thank you for watching.

    Ive noticed that there seems to be more than a tad bit of aggression towards the consumers. I just think that the guy in the video takes things so personally, it negatively impacts the sales.
    FWIW, not my monkey, not my circus....just commenting on what I see. Fair winds!
