    I bought this monitor in early September, by then there were virtually no reviews for this monitor. Overall I can say that this is a great gaming monitor that cost me only 285 dollars! For this money you simply will not find a better 2K monitor. Yes, you can forget about HDR because of the low peak brightness, but in all other usage scenarios it performs at its best.

    Thank you for the review. I just purchased this monitor and was having some difficulty knowing if G Sync was enabled or not when gaming. I also own an ASUS ROG Swift monitor and the power indicator light (bottom right hand side) turns red when G Sync is enabled. I expected the light to turn red on the ASUS TUF as well, but this is not the case. My solution was to go the the DISPLAY tab on the NVIDIA Control Panel and check the "G-SYNC Compatible Indicator" drop down. Now the small graphic "G-SYNC" appears on the upper right hand corner of my monitor when I am gaming. Just a mention as an FYI.

    The only nitpick I have about this monitor is 250nits... Which is low in today's standards, 250nits also make hdr functionally useable. But to begin with all ips monitors are very terrible when it comes to hdr, so I guess that doesnt matter. 250nits is more than suffician for sdr gaming/content creation. Plus, not a lot of games have hdr soooo

    Heya experts! Thanks for the great review!
    Been considering buying this monitor but noticed that you mentioned the "sister monitor", the VG27AQL3A is an option for slightly more brightness, otherwise same specs.
    Currently the prices are so that for only around 25 dollars more, I could buy the L3A instead of 3A, that also appears to have a better monitor stand.
    I'm not very good with the whole specs things and such, so I'm hoping someone here in the comments can help me!
    Is the L3A "just as good" as the normal 3A? I don't mind paying 25 bucks more for a monitor just for some extra "safety brightness" and a better stand, so its not a dealbreaker. I'd just rather not get a monitor that might be "worse" than this one, that looks great in this review!

    • @TechBroll
      @TechBroll  4 місяці тому +3

      Yeah, they should look and perform quite similar aside from the difference in brightness and some other things but all essentiall specifications are the same. If you have access to the 3LA and you don’t mind the extra cost, I suggest you go for it.

      @nezke4700 Рік тому +2

      I'd go for AQ3A than AQL1A. I don't see any reason why I should pick AQL1A. AQ3A is a lot cheaper than AQL1A and has higher refresh rate, AQ3A at 180hz and AQL1A at 144hz. Even if you overclocked AQL1A, 170hz is the max refresh rate it'll get. Both are build almost identical tho:
      - 27"
      - 2K resolution
      - IPS flat panel
      - G-SYNC and FreeSync compatible
      But the AQL1A has better screen movement than AQ3A. Fully adjustable and thats all. You can get that with AQ3A with extra monitor arm.
      BUT the case will be different if you talk about Asus VG27AQML1A (the only difference is the letter "M" from AQL1A). This is probably the best "budget" monitor you can get from Asus. The specs:
      - 2K resolution
      - IPS flat panel
      - 27"
      - 240hz and OC-able to 260hz
      - Good screen movement (still prefer monitor arm tho)
      - G-SYNC and FreeSync compatible
      And believe it or not the price is almost the same as AQL1A. It's basically an upgraded AQL1A but with steroids and a same price.
      Conclusion:
      - Have extra budget? AQML1A
      - No extra budget? AQ3A
      - Forget about AQL1A. It's not an option.
      - Go for extra monitor arm/bracket
