Catfish John

I've known of of this tune only from hearing Alison Krauss' beautiful version with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band back in the 90s. Online research now tells me things I didn't know about the song, such as the author's names, and also that it was a country hit in 1972 for one Johnny Russell. Pretty sure I didn't hear it at the time, or I think I'd remember it. Well, I guess I think that.
Also, I've heard Jerry Garcia did a version, which also I don't think I ever heard.
As this is part of the "with clams" series, I don't notice any egregious audio clams, but there's a video clam or two in there.
Oh well, that's the folk process. Or maybe just the hasty process.

That’s a great version. I like this song but have struggled with key, pace, intonation etc. Simple but difficult. You’ve done it really well and given me some idea. 🙏
