Avicii grew up surrounded by entertainers, with his mother being a popular actress in Sweden. He fell in love with EDM as a teenager, and inspired by a visit to a club his brother worked at, as well as the music of artists like Daft Punk, he began making songs while still in high school. After connecting with a manager via facebook, Avicii realized he might actually be able to make a career in the music industry, and after just a few short years, he was one of the most popular EDM artists in the world. But the lifestyle of a DJ didn't suit him. Struggles with alcohol and recurring health problems would interfere with his tours, and eventually he would stop performing live altogether. He was just entering a new phase of his career, focusing on what he loved most, when news broke that his life was cut tragically short.

A detail I feel like could've been included; Avicii did not only earn loads of money. He also donated large sums of his earnings to charity. All his revenue went from one of his 2012 tours, totaling one million dollars, to the US charity Feed America. In 2013, he also donated a million euros to Swedish Radio Help's work against poverty (among other things).

to be precise Avicii is a producer, he is not using turntables, he almost exclusively plays his own productions, remixes, and tracks from his mates and label collegues, why is everyone calling him a DJ? Hes much much more than that.

@Jorge Esquivel Sort of true. DJ's can produce live with certain DAWS like Ableton, but what you described is a producer as well, not exclusively to being a DJ. I was a DJ for a couple years. There's two types of DJ's a graduation/wedding DJ and a DJ who plays at big venues and clubs. A producer can also do those things, but what makes it different is the authenticity by mixing and remixing it live rather than in the studio.

Avicii's music helped me through so much of my teenage years and early adult life. His music always takes me back to a happy place and time without fail. Knowing how unhappy and stressed he was with the demands of his career, which it looks like ultimately lead to his demise, absolutely crushes me inside. I hope he knew how much he meant to people and how much love he helped spread all over the world. You'll live forever through your music Tim RIP.

He combined folk/country music with modern EDM and pop. At the time, folk/country music was not accepted as well as pop or EDM, so he changed that. He made those music styles favoured by the public. Oh and he inspired artists like Kygo. Such a legend.

On Monday Netflix added his documentary Stories. It’s spectacular and heart breaking at the same time. Unless you suffer from severe anxiety like Tim did, it’s impossible to fully understand the deep pain he was suffering. I think he just got tired of fighting. I hope he can now eternally Rest In Peace. You may be be gone, but you will never be forgotten Tim 💕 🇸🇪

I remember falling in love with his music back in 2010 - it all started with "Seek Bromance". That was one hell of a track. I remember falling head over heels for "Wake me up" when it came out in 2013, just like everyone else. But I only really started becoming aware of Avicii and his music in 2015. That's when I started listening to what else he had. After 2015 I was truly infatuated. And here's the strange part of my story. When I'd already started worshipping him in true fangirl fashion and added a bunch of his songs to my playlist - only then did I finally connect Avicii with "Seek Bromance". Since it was released under the alias "Tim Berg", I never really added up 2+2. Then in 2015 I stumbled upon "Seek Bromance", looked at the artist name, and suddenly my brain went like "click". "Oh yeah, Avicii's real name is Tim Bergling, and this song was made by Tim Berg... Wow, how the fuck did I miss that??".
I love your music Avicci! It wakes me up in the morning, I take a shower while listening to it, I play fortnite while listening to it. Your music has changed my life. I hope you are in a better place now!!!
