Making a Sink Drain Up Through The Ceiling

- As we continue renovating this 1970s house, it is time to fix some plumbing problems. This wet bar on the lowest level used to drain into a cast iron pipe buried beneath the concrete floor. Since that pipe has rusted through, today, we need to find a new way to drain this sink.
In order to make a sink, shower, or other utility drain upwards we need what is called a macerator pump. That is the easy part, runningthe drain line is the hard part....

I have had so many oops in my basement due to failed pumps that came with our furnace. I'll keep in mind Vever if the rodeo continues. Thank you for posting.
GREAT VIDEO Todd 👍❤😇🙏
Now I want to put a urinal in my shop using the same pump. Ha. Great Video!
I never knew this could be done.👍⭐️
Why not run the pecs line through the old cast iron line? It was a straight shot and the pecs line is stiff enough to make it. Good luck. Thanks for sharing. God bless and protect.
12:17 the manual says max. temp is 90C .. so make sure you never use boiling water, which could easily happen if you have a kettle down there in the bar area. That will put out 100C water (boiling) which will (according to the manual) possibly kill your Vevor 'bucket'.
Blow hot air into flexi pipe to soften it,..
Pipes in concrete are a pain... Cut, break, dig, repipe, fill, mix, pour - pain!
Maybe not as DIY, but often drain lines like that can be lined.
Or if resigned to using a pump, I wonder if the pex could be forced thru the old drain pipe even under the floor? (step 1, snake it with a power snake and a root cutter or harder bit to remove deposits from inside the pipe). The ends are likely to be a problem getting around the corners.
Using the stovepipe cleaner to fish the pex through was brilliant
I like SSL Family Mom's comments; I don't know what I'm doing!? ... It worked!! ... I know those feelings well! 😄
I would have tested that out with a bucket of clear/clean water before foaming the hole and putting the ceiling back together. 🤞that you have no leaks no, or it will be "rinse and repeat" fixing the whole plumbing 💩 again
Good one. I don't know who you use as inspiration (besides Jesus) but I use YOU as one of inspirational sources for getting projects done :) Thank you for sharing.
Can't wait for the testing.. I put a utility sink in my basement that my laundry washer dumps into. I'm on my 3rd Home Depot lift pump / check valve in 3 years. Fortunately the 2 replacement pumps were covered under warranty.
Very cool video Todd. Can’t wait to see the finished product
The things we do for our kids.
👍🪻💜🇺🇸👍
You may need a check valve
Check valve is built into the pump
