Love both of the pistols tested, but it’s hard to compare one with a red dot to one with iron sights for accuracy. A better test would be to put a red dot on the 617.

I found a new 6" 617 online last night after a year of looking. I can't wait to have it next to my Buck Mark on the bench.

I own both of those guns. I put a red dot on both and fired them from a bench rest with several brands of ammo. They both shot well with CCI Standard velocity ammo. To pick one over the other for accuracy would be impossible. Both shot 3/4” groups @ 25 yards.
i believe it, both are going to give you great performance... just depends on whether you wanna go semi auto or revolver to get there

I prefer revolvers, so the 617 wins for me. Both are very good handguns. I'm looking to purchase a 617 this summer. I love a S&W revolver and being able to shoot 22LR, 22L, and 22 short in the same gun appeals to me.
highly recommended you pick one up and think you will love it if you do. only decision you gotta make is barrel length.
Take the red dot optic off the Browning or add one to that 617. Then you will have a fair comparison. You can use CCI standard velocity 40 grain bullets if you want more accuracy.
who said anything has to be fair? a comparisson can just be a comparisson, no?
the 617 is the coolest revolver in 22 ive seen i love my old h&r 922 with scrap plastic grips but thats a ten shooter cranky has one and its a peach
I prefer the 17 over the 617 I think the question needs be do you prefer semi or revolver as they pretty much on top of the a good 22 list
there is no correct answer to that question... choosing would destroy the universe 😂🤣
Personally, I like them both, however, if I were limited to only one: the revolver.
Short, long, and long rifle will be ammo selections available to the wheel gun.
Additionally, all spent cases empty at one time and can go into recycling containers.

@@CloverTac Actually, Dunham Sporting Goods, Fremont Michigan had shorts, long, and Aguila 22sss all on the shelves. (Overpriced, but there just the same)
I have a few shorts left from a few decades ago.($3.00 per 50 Remington 22 golden bullets😅)

Your video is fun and interesting. Question: What is the purpose of comparing a semi-auto pistol with modern optical sights to a revolver with open iron sights? This seems unscientific. It would have been better to have used a S&W 617 with identical barrel length and equivalent sights to the Buckmark.
short answer is in 2K+ videos i have never said anything was scientific and most of what i do i do just to showcase stuff in a fun and interesting way, which looks like you got i get how folks who are new to the channel may not understand me or my style, at least not right away,maybe ever and either way, that is ok too

i like the revolver more the buckmark is my favorite semi auto hand gun over the ruger or all other guns in that same league great video
yup, i own many buckmarks, some stock, some rigged for specific competitions over the years, my favorte semi for sure but something about the stock 617 that just speaks to me too, fantastic firearm
I have both guns they are tack drivers ! Is that fluted barrel original if not where you get it ?
it s a Browning barrel but think i picked it up from midwest gunworks back in the day... ui have never paid for a fancy buckmark, makes no sense it your goal is to go competition ready... best route is to go with a cheap Camper model and work up from there... my opinion of course
@@CloverTac I bought a buck mark hunter and put a tandem kross trigger and gear box in it made a huge difference already I like the 7.5 inch barrel but the flutes might take just enough weight off it as I like a long semi heavy barrel thanks !!
I own a rarity, a Ruger mk ll with 10" bull barrel. It will put its ten rounds in the bullseye and be covered by a quarter!
i gotta wonder how much of that is the handgun and how much is you... odds are you are giving yourself far less credit than you deserve. pretty cool handgun though, i think my longer ruger is 6" or so
Why do you hate your pistols? I ask this because you're putting Armscrap down the barrels and only those who hate their guns would commit such a crime. Doing a review or comparison of guns using that ammo is like comparing two trucks towing capacity with water in the gas. Both are winners and fun to shoot.
